A lot of cool things happening out on the main lines. Chief's favorite Class 1 (CSX) just unveiled a First Responders engine 911, and a Salute the Troops engine 1776.
Did not see the Kentucky Derby but a lot of people must be upset.

Hello there, Been MIA. Started to post a couple nights and crashed.
Been trimming trees and bushes, mowed and wacked the yard in between.
Found out Saturday that the Drags were rained out while on the way to the Train show in Cumberland. That made the trip more leisurely. Spent about an hour and a half at the show. Most of it chewing the fat with Fife. Spent $5 on a HO water tower I thought was Marx but doesn't match the boxed one I have.
Had lunch on the way home and worked on trees till almost dark. Slowly but surly geeting there
Yesterday was a rainy day and the 1st Hillclimb of the season. Rained most of the day. Turnout was about half of normal. The hill was better than anybody expected 1st round, 2nd round was worse. Son broke one of his bikes, no spark seems like CDI box, so decided to leave early and go to work instead of taking a day off without pay. He took my tahoe and I waited til the end and brought his truck and trailer as he was blocked in til the end.
Spent the rest of the the day being lazy. Those 4014 videos are great.
Best get to the trees
Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,
Watched a little Premiere League. Did nothing else. Did watch Jane the Virgin. Best episode of the season. Still recovering from Saturday. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from wet 58°F Southern Ohio,
I was able to get some of the grass cut Friday before the rain. Yesterday was cleaning critter pens and putting together a grill that my bride wanted for Mother’s Day. I was glad she asked for something rather than me guessing. The old grill was shot. I took off the firebox and the cart part was solid, so I recycled the top, kept the cart and will make it into a roll around work table for the garage. My bride made deer burgers on the grill for the grills first use and it was great.
I’m going to wire up a couple of crossing gates and flashers on the layout. It is getting close to where I’ll be setting roadbed.
May God bless you and your families
Jim
Rained over night. Sunny and 71 now. More forecasted.
Kentucky Derby is a cuss word around this house. Crooked win.

Sad.
Resting today.
Have a great week ahead.
Sun and 60s today. Next week, more rain. The grass will be brown in August. Too bad we can't just save some. I did get the grass cut even though the ground is soft as a sponge. No new train news. As for races the Kentucky Derby results was really something.

Mornin' boys. Rain & 59 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.
I had a great train show yesterday at the fairgrounds. Sold off my entire collection of N-scale trains, made some money for the railroad, and got to meet with Banks. Picked up two MTH log cars in WESTERN MARYLAND markings (the tie-down chains are a bear to employ). After the show, a couple of buddies stopped by Fifedom to check out the train room.
Wifey and I ate dinner at our favorite English pub, and it was lights-out by 1900 hrs.
Long day. Rained the entire race. Cold, wet, miserable. Kissed the bricks (AJ's 4 win brick), got the bling, walked to the vehicle. Made it home, ate food, crashed for 3+ hours. I hope everyone has a good day.
72 and cloudy. May rain later. Got a thingy at a church for noon. Then maybe get to prop leg up. Back a lot better.
Morning All!
May the Fourth be with you!! (someone had to... )
Looks to be a crap shoot for weather today. I actually dreamt it snowed last night!
I've been following the 4014 videos/stories. Hat's off to UP for making this happen.
Going to the local train show this morning and hiding with my brother-in-law this afternoon from the influx of estrogen. (Niece's baby shower.)
Hope all is well.
Have a good one and prayers.

Better day today. Got mostly caught up at work. Got van ready to transport people to Mini. Going to bed early tonight. "Window over Terre Haute" appears to be opening up. I hope everyone has a good day.
anjdevil - It is a wagon top, built nearby in Keyser, WV. I'm going to make it a crew cabin, so my guys can stow their gear inside, instead of living out of their vehicles.
Banks - Yatchett too big for Deep Creek, and too much draft. I would trade down for a pretty little daysailer in a heartbeat. Wifey prefers to rent the speed boats at Bill's.
Chief - Thank you, Sir.
Today went to thunder. Thought I could take off Friday so I could rest up. System went to junk for a while and then someone dumped a lot of cases on me after I left Wednesday and I would like to forget today. Did get all the Mini packets for all of us, but not without some drama. Watched Izombie. Why do shows phone it in the last season??? Not as bad as Jane the Virgin but not much better. I hope everyone has a good day.
Working on 4 hours sleep......Memorial Service was as to be expected. We had 1 member and the family was there. Went very well. Was in the Color Guard as usual. Lots of tears when my County Assistant Secretary's name came up. She passed in November. Still sad about that.Chief - Hope dat back gets better. Need some train time, supposed to get the roadrunner from it's wintering in Delaware, but there may be transportaion issues, like me getting there and then there is the weather.....rain again all weekend!
Fife, I saw a photo of the I-12 --- is that a round top? I want to ride down there with the bike this year.......
Back to work, man I need another cup o Joe....
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
V8Vega I enjoyed the hillclimb vidio. I was real active in desert Hare and hound racing from around 1965 to 75. We went out every weekend. This was the transation period from 650 Triumps which ruled the desert to european motocross 2 cycle lightweight bikes. Motocross was popular in Europe but was unheard of here. We had Greeves 250cc bikes here but they werent very fast or reliable. I think Bultaco was the 1st fast, good handling lightweight and rapidly Husqavarna, Montessa, CZ, Maco and others. Motocross begain. I had 4 Husqavarnas during this period. It wear as restricted back then as it is now.

Glad you liked. I started dirt dragging in 71 on my 100 Honda. Bought a 125 Elsinore in 74. Still have it. Had a lot of fun over the years. Did motocross, Scrambles, Flat track and Hillclimb. Used to ride the woods and abandoned strip mines when not racing.
You said a mouth full. It ain't what it used to be.
fifedog Mornin' boys. Train Season begins today, with trips Thurs-Sun from here on out. Kudos to Team Big Boy. Hopefully I'll have some great news to share next week. Spent some time in the caboose yesterday, mainly giving it an initial scrub-down. Lots to do to make it "servicable". I liken it to prepping and painting the bottom of a 31' yatchett.

Fife.....how many hats do you wear at the railroad? ???
Speaking of Yatchet....is Deep Creek big enough for it???? I'll bet it's lonely
Mayor's Prayer Breakfast over [National Day Of Prayer]. 77 and sunny. Back still acting up.
Ray, get well.
Hope none of the gang gets flooding.
Good work Fifey.
Well, it's May day already. UP big boy is set to leave Cheyenne on Saturday for the big doings at Ogden and Promontory. Like to see some pictures of that thing running. They are cutting it pretty fine. Yesterday they still didn't have all the rods on it yet. I think they do now I heard.
Still fighting my pneumonia. Doc gave me a stronger antibiotic and also some probiotics to replace the ones I need. Worse part is the cough I get towards night.
Had a great dinner tonight that I fixed myself. Had ground sirloin covered with onions and mac and cheese topped off with iced tea. Had to do it in self defense after eating too many frozen dinners.

IT'S MAY!!!! My favorite month of the year. The temps are warm, the grass is green and the racers are in Indiana..... Financial matters are cleared up, ids needed to pick up Mini packets for everybody concerned are in my hands, life is good. Work was busy but not overwhelming. Weather nice for a noon walk, but rained so I could not do yard work (not that I wanted to....) and Lucas is home for an overnight back to Terre Haute after spending several days of quality time with his daughter. Indy 11 tied 0-0 despite being a man down for 75 minutes. I hope everyone has a good day.
40's and 50's with clouds and drizzle here. We are lakefront owners now. A month ago, when we were at our other place, we noticed that the lakefront property went up for sale. My wife and I decided that we needed to buy it to insure that we don't loose the view of the lake from our back yard, should somebody else buy the property and build a garage on the empty side of the lakefront lot. Looks like we now have a two bedroom lakefront cottage 'guest house' now. I'm trying to talk my wife into using it as a train house.
We held a kids train day at the museum last Saturday. Got a couple dozen kids and their parents through. Mostly young ones pre-school to 2nd grade age.
I ran my new MKT NW3 switcher for a while. It seemed to have some difficulty getting traction to reverse a train of 7 cars. Ran forward without any issues, though. Also had my new REA operating merchadise car on the track. The kids enjoyed making it unload the boxes. The motor operated mechisem worked well. Seems to be more reliable than the solonoid mechisem in the old milk jug cars.
About all for now.
Only 89 and sunny. Had ultrasound on legs to see if all clear. They are. See3ms very lower back the problem. We'll see what Dr. says.
Hello There,
May already!!!!!!!
Cloudy with drizzle so far today. The guessers said hazy and clearing at 630 this AM. Back to trimming trees if it does.
Spent Monday getting mowers out and mowing.
Yesterday son and I spent a couple hours running a steer in circles in the barn trying to get him to get in the trailer for his trip to the butcher. Got my teeth cleaned and started triming a tree in the yard before the rains came.
From Wickipedia This is the quad we bought for grandson to race
this year. You can find lots of Dirt Drag action where we race by searching BBDR on youtube. you'll mostly see big bick action. We run dirt bike based machines.
You'll find our hillclimb action by searching Beaverdale Hillclimb on you tube. This one is 10 years old but is a pretty good representation of the hill.
Best get to it
Good Morning from beautiful 75°F Southern Ohio,
May 1st, what happened April? I hope this month goes by as fast because I start a month of nightshift next week. Bleh. Only good part of working nights is being a little removed from the dayshift drama.
The layout is coming along with the wiring of the lighted accessories, like the flood lights, water towers and oil gusher. I may start laying out the roadway and parking lots over the weekend. I bought a Casio label maker that will make a ¼” label for the control switches on the control panel. There are several control switches that are labeled from Gilbert AF for Uncouplers that I use for other accessories because they are readily available, cheap and work instead of paying in some cases 10x the price for an original accessory button.
We traded our Toyota Sienna in on a Honda Odyssey and I really like it, more importantly my bride really likes it better. We had the Sienna for two years and there was just some things that drove me nuts when I drove it.
Got to go.
Morning all!
Cloudy and rainy here also (SJ!). We are back to setting rain records here. 70's today due to overcast.
Regards, Roy
I stopped in to check on Da Chief. He actuall remembered.
RAIN overnight lots of it. Roy in Texas is trying to drown us.
May day is our oldest grandsons birthday. He be 27 today.
Gray and gloomy again today. 60's for a high later on.
I was up a 445 this morning to take the Princess to Philly for work and made it here on the "other side" by 720. I'll be bolting outta here at 430 to pick up the Princess and get her home if I'm early, or drop me off if I'm late, to the Memorial Service tonight. It is on the way home, so it is not out of the way. My Class "A"s are out in the car.
Yes, this will be a long day.....
End of Month wasn't as bad I had imagined, but bad just the same....bad as in BUSY (Yes, we are making money...lol)
OK, off to see what work holds.....Happy MAY!!!
(and I make first page...lol!!!)
Good morning from the Valley! Our new yard has been mowed for the first time and it looks nice and green. The woods surrounding the house is getting greener everyday.
Basement rooms are almost done. Should start putting together the frame work for the new layout.
A big thank to the Chief for the Menards coupons. I needed some new parts for the Ohio snow cannon. It was having trouble reaching Roseyville.
Our little rural county in Ohio has become a big time nesting area for Bald Eagles. Last week we saw one just sitting on the ground by a pond trying to out fish a herron.
I have two doctor's appointment tomorrow. Regular check ups. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Have a good day.
