Hey all!

Been incognito for a while. We had a family (to be) tragedy. Future SIL's brother - and was to be best man at the wedding in Nov - passed from an aneurysm at 35 a little over a week ago. Too young for that and the kids are devastated. They were all best friends and very close. Picked up a bad cold in the meantime so cutting it short today.

Pass on my Happy Mothers Day salutations.

Regards, Roy

V8Vega

Crossman 2100 pellet gun is a good one, fairly easy to pump, 750 FPS.

Yes they are Dennis! I think I got this one for my boy back around 1990 or 91 and it still works fine.

Just sited in the BB gun scope for the grand-son. Got it at about a 3" to 4" group at 25 yards on a windy day with my shaky old a$$ so good enough for him to start out with. I wish the trigger pull was not so hard it would shoot better.

Another cool, cloudy and damp day on The North Bluff.

Kids all called their mom so it is a regular day from here out.

Good evening all,

Finally a beautiful day!!!!  Actually weather wise the day was awful, but Mattheus Leist was P4 for the Foyt team!!!!  Went from 21st to 4th with good pit strategy and some good driving as well.  Moved to 16th in points as well.  First top 10 and top 5 in Leist's career and best finish for a Foyt car that I have personally witnessed since Ryan Hunter-Reay got a 4th at Mid-Ohio several years ago.  Woo-hoo!   Race started off in a drizzle and got progressively wetter.  We stayed relatively dry with an abundance of clothes and rain gear.  Celebrated with a fine supper at Sarah Fisher's 1911 Grill in Speedway.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy Mother's Day -

A day to honor those still with us and a day to remember those who have passed.

Amen to that, always amased by those who have had their mothers for many, many years. I am 66, my mom has been gone for 61 years. Makes you wonder who you would be, if it was not that way. Be blessed for those who still have mom to thank!

Dennis, I will swap weather with you!

After I got my blood draw we went to my sister's yesterday to find out the bushings I got for her mover wheel won't work because the wheel she has is the wrong one. So left there and went to the daughters and hung out with SIL and his dad while wife and daughter took grandson to get the pipes in his ears removed they put in when he was small that never came out on their own?

Weather was cold but the sun was out.

Today,,

No sun today, 50s and rain,,,,again!!! I did come up with a plan to fix my sisters wheel issue with the parts I have but I will need to make another trip to Plainfield. Damn gas there is $.70 more than here. Up to $3.299 there. Gassed up this morning for $2.599  WTH???

Well crap weather again today so I decided to work on the oldest grand-son's birthday gift. He just turned 9. I pulled his dad's first .177 CAL pellet/BB gun out a 1990 or so Crossman 2100 Classic and worked it over. Added a scope from my old 22LR , cleaned it, ordered a .177 cleaning kit, and decided to throw in a pack of firecrackers just for the fun of it. Can't get much better for a 9 year old than that!

Best get.

Hello there,

got my brush pile burnt yesterday. Plan today is to make more with one of the Ash trees in the front yard.

Watching littlest grandkids this evening. Older granddaughter is at Penn State today at a majorette camp. She's shooting to be the Sapphire on their squad one day. Her brother is fishing.

Forgot to mention that a guy in an old Dakota pickup ended up swamped in son's plowed field last Sunday. He came down through the woods on what's left of a logging road. Pretty much destroyed the truck that appeared to be in nice shape before the escapade.

MartyE.......thanks for the video.

Best get on with the day .

Good evening all,

Surprisingly good day at work.  Busy.  Cool at noon for walk.  Foyt team absolutely horrible in qualifying today.   Never been this bad before.  Could be interesting day Saturday.  Blue Bloods had good season ending.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Phish - You are very welcome.  I thought of you right off and I'm very happy it went to a great home!

Fife - Just when you get out of the Flamingo thing, they are everywhere....

Hope to get the roadrunner out for a bit tonight pre rain.  A little cruise for ice cream may be on tap.

Nothing earth shattering, just been busy......

Good Morning from 65°F Southern Ohio,

Not sure what the weather will be today.  I’m going to get the suitcase weights for the mower, and batteries for the truck.  Last few times I used it the truck would start OK but the draw would drop the voltage to about 9 volts and the radio would reset.  That was my first indication of something amiss.  The truck has two batteries and they should be replaced in pairs.  I’d say I have a dead cell in at least one of them.

If it rains I hope to work on the layout, no rain, I’ll cut grass and move more dirt.

Fife - remember the flamingos in the pictures for Sunday Photo fun?  I still have the birds and when it comes time for the scenery they will be in there.

Rich - Thanks again.

SP - Prayers for your return to health and getting rid of the bug

Roy - Hope and pray you’re doing OK

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Still down with whatever I have.  Still on antibiotics.  They made an appointment for a Pet scan next Tuesday.  Hoping for a good report.  I have been staying at home and watching the Big Boy doings in Ogden Utah in preparation for the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad tomorrow with a reinactment at Promontory Summit, Utah with replicas of the original engines.  Hope everyone is OK.  I read that Roy is having problems.  Prayers for all of us who suffer.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Completed first phase of what will be a continuous project, but for now I am up to snuff on it.  Cases keep coming in.  Cleaned out Encore to finish off wife's request list.... for now.   Watched Izombie.  Story starting to make a little more sense....sort of.  Practice for Indy GP is tomorrow.  Wonder how bad Foyt team will do there.   Did get another letter to the diocesan newspaper editor published.  Not excommunicated....yet.   Found out person who I assisted as soccer coach will not be back this year, leaving me in an uncertain status as to whether I will be wanted or needed this fall.   Weather was comfortable today.  Turns to junk tomorrow and Saturday will be wet.....    Surprise, surprise another wet event at IMS....go figure.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Eveng,

Still crap for weather. Got 1.6" of fresh rain last night in 20 minutes on top of the + 5" from earlier. Washed the drive out in the usual places and was cold and damp most of the day. Going to be a late planting season this year for the farmers here.

Sending it east to you guy out there. Smile, Wink & Grin

I did manage to re-paint the fenders on the Cargo trailer with some old paint I had around. Looks good. Down to just a couple of things I want to do to the inside and I will be done with it.

Blood draw in the morning for next weeks Dr. Apt.

About it.

Prayers for those in need of them!

Just checking in. Gonna be 70 today and we will pay for it with thunderstorms. The ground is so wet I had to leave part of the backyard uncut yesterday. Never understood the flamingo thing. My wife has a duck statue in the yard and I hate the thing. I just hope it doesn't mate with the one across the street.

anjdevil - I spent a whole winter a few years back lusting after a plum crazy challenger.  As for the flamingos, they remained back in Baltimore.  Funny thing, now I see lots of cute flamingo merchandise everywhere we go.

Good evening all,

Another evening of yard work and I get to start all over again on Monday.  Wife wants me to sweep out the Encore for her as well.  I do not spend any time in the house any more, just to sleep, maybe I should get cot for shed.....  Did watch Jane the Virgin.  A good episode.   Weather was good today.  Stormy tomorrow.  That is why yard work tonight.....   Bought the place over 40 years thinking the pole barn could be an income source....boy was I stupid......   Stuck with 2/3 acre of ground so rough it makes a corn cob look as smooth as a baby's behind.....   Ugh Ugh Ugh.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Kev - I’m thinking of getting a couple of 42 pound suitcase weights for my JD X330 mower to increase traction and lower the center of gravity, what do you think?

Jim, I guess it depends on what your trying to do. If it is for winter snow work sure, more pounds per square inch is a good thing. On wet turf, it is a bad thing. On hill sides, a good thing if held as low as it can be. I would say lower is better but I have not seen how those fit to your tractor?  Huh? I would think you would want the weight on the back without power steering.
Got to 80 this afternoon but rain is just to the west and heading in. Lightning Storm

Good Evening from beautiful clear 80°F Southern Ohio,

I worked on a couple of crossing flashers before going to bed this morning and they are layout ready and maybe I’ll get them wired up this week.  It has been so nice out I’ve been doing outside stuff instead of working on the layout.

Rich - Yes I did!  It came yesterday after I left for work.  Thank you.  I did not have that AF manual.  It was a 1947 copyright, and REALLY nice.  THANK YOU!  I used it to work on the crossing flashers

Happy Hump Day......

Raining when I got in, took the Princess to Philly for work, I'll jump over the Ben Franklin after 5 to fetch her and run up to Softball.  She'll drop me off and hopefully I'll get a ride home.  IF they have the fields ready, been raining since last night.

A little late to the party, I saw CSX's 911 and Military engines.  Looks good, trying to get some fire dept. members to go back to the NS/OAR training on the rescue train in June...

Not much else, working and meetings, training done until next month then another 3 day marathon, a Tuesday night, a Thursday night and an All Day Saturday....

roadrunner has been home since Sunday and it's already rained 2 of those 4 days.....wtf.....

Fife - I have a brand new in the box hardly ever run WM set from Lionel.  For some reason, I could not part with it.  So, as fate has it, when the layout is complete, I'll run it in your honor.  My house FINALLY came in and it needs to be wired for lights, but once it's settled, the flamingos (I have 3) will be install in the front lawn, as I have already parked a Plum Crazy road runner in the driveway....

Kev - nice score!

Prayers for those in need - Phish...did you get something from USPS?

Back to work....

Here's a little floor layout action in honor the Big Boy's return.

Good Evening from clear and beautiful 70°F Southern Ohio,

I got up about 1:45 pm as I had a doctor appointment.  My bride said it is about time I see a family doc so this was a first visit.  Height 6’, Weight 184, pulse 54, BP 108 /70.  He wants copies of all my work medical exams, 42 years worth? And wants to have some blood work done.  For 42 years I’ve had annual physicals through work because of the things I do but I guess there are some tests that especially now are not being covered by my work physicals.

I got home and moved about a ton of dirt and concrete that contractors dumped where I’m filling in for a camper pad.  No layout work today.  It was too pretty to be inside.  The extended forecast looks like Friday and Saturday may be good grass cutting days.

May God bless you and your families

Good evening all,

Voted and saw Avengers: Endgame.  Good movie.  Lots of action.  Most of it made sense.  Got sample pics from Mini.  Looked like a drowned rat.  Weather was nice again today.  Back to work tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hi guys,

Been crazy around here. Lots of rain and water. Got most of the grass cut I could without needing scuba gear. Man it is wet. No way can I get into the southeast corner.... But most the rest I could get but behind the shed and on the east side.

Had to fix my sisters mowers over the weekend and used my neighbors cargo trailer to bring the mowers here and back. Liked it so much I bought it from him for $150 cash and what he owed me for gravel. So I am in it for about $1238.00 not bad for a $3,500 trailer. My son wants to use it for hauling the dirt bikes around. It has a nice rear ramp door so it is eazy to load bikes and stuff.

Yesterday I got two new tires and a set of bearing buddies, should be good to go for a long time!

Best get.

Good Morning from clear cool 47°F Southern Ohio,

I’m on nightshift this month, bleh.  Only good thing is you don’t have the bustle of dayshift.

It was really pretty out today and I did get the rest of the grass cut.  There were a few muddy spots and I cut them with the push mower.  Got another 586 Wayside Station wired in on the layout but I’ve not figured just where I want the crossing gates to go yet.

May God bless you and your families

Good evening all,

Day started off with getting a lot of errands done, but mowing the lawn turned into an exercise in frustration as big mower kept bogging down and finally the blades quit working.  had to finish up with 21 inche mower.  did get yard trimmed.  Long hot day with nothing really to show for it but a lot of tired.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
