My day so far,

Wel, it's dark out now, the Christmas lights are on, and the front yard's a regular winter wonderland with the lights sparkling on the snow!
Happy "Twelfth Night Plus-One" everyone!
I'll just unplug 'em tomorrow and save the pull-down for next weekend.
Good Day All !
No comment on the weather here. Can you spell gorgeous ?
Roy, Fortunately we don't have the ice & snow issues here, most of these bozos can't drive in the rain let alone ice & snow.
Good run at the museum yesterday, no pileups but visitation was kinda light compared to last Friday and Sunday. Sunday we had our usual New Year's run where our spouses come down for a big lunch and a bit of bubbly. This coming Friday is going to be "027 Day", everything will be 027 sized equipment. My first Lionel will see a little bit of track time:
But not to much of a run since it is almost as old as me.
Good news on our ailing family members ! Continued .
Tuesday is our Heart Failure Support Group meeting, saw a blurb on the news about some clinical trials for a new treatment that I hope to get some info on. Even if it can't be of any benefit to me maybe somebody else in the group may benefit.
Time to get up off my duff and get something done.
later all !

Hey all,
MIL doing lot better, seems everything is undercontrol. So she may be released from hospital today or tomorrow.
Fighting off a cold here, frustrating. Things I want to do, trip to San Diego, take down Christmas decorations, etc. Guess will stay inside making video and audio tapes, and doing small stuff on layout.
The Chicago layout seems to progressing well. Have had numerous calls, but I think they are on the right track. Would have had a LOT more problems if I wouldn't have found the guy in Chicago to got and help them. He has saved the day! Got very concerned when the first guy was confused regarding the extension cord that went from the wall plug to the master power switch on the layout, and didn't know where to connect the green wire from the extension cord. Joe was able to help with everything so far. He even knew how to read the wire list and block diagram I had provided. So all is not lost!
Have been having quite a bit of rain, and MORE to come. Major concern about the "Atmospheric River" head to San Francisco and area. (15x the water volume of the Mississippi). We are getting residual off shoots from it. With so much concrete here will likely be significant flooding. So will see what happens the next 4 or 5 days.
Well going to get busy, so you all have a great day!
Don
Lucked out .... local online auction is selling partial lionel collector's trains and etc. must pick up locally so I'm good to go .... will let you know of the deals when it's over if I get any .... same auction I got my 1932 lionel train from ...
Morning all!
29 at 11 am. Supposed to hit 73 by Tuesday!
Rob - I worked for a Boston based company for a couple of years in the mid-80's. One time a couple of co-workers flew into Dallas for meetings at a customer. Ice storm hit their first night here. While waiting for me to pick them up (they were at a hotel overlooking a freeway here), they were watching the highway traffic. Got in the car and constant harassing me about how Texas drivers can't drive in the "snow". So later that winter I went to Boston and they had an ice storm. They called and said we had to cancel a meeting as they could not get to the hotel until later. Sheepishly admitted no one can drive on ice and amazed I picked them up when they were in Dallas. Any snow here on a highway just turns to ice as soon as traffic hits it.
Regards, Roy
Afternoon. Snow finally falling. Not going to have what was forecasted. Be ending soon.Watching TV and waiting for Wifey's big pot of soup to cook. Later.

Woke up to a cold 2 degrees but they say it will get to 21 today. Still cold. Picking up Jordan the 3 year old grandson later. Will be testing out the push button action area on the layout. Also he is bringing his dinosaur train and controller over so he can run it here.
Morning all! She's a bitter one this morning! No snow, but a layer of frost. Almost wiped out on the deck when I let the dog out!!
Mike - Uggh. I forgot Emerald City was on! The promo trailer looked good. I hope it lived up to it. I'll find it on Tivo.
Chief - Glad the eye is okay.
Roy - I'll cancel sending the National Guard down! I have to admit, it is quite comical to us Northerners when we see the "snow storms" down south and how everything comes to a standstill with a 1/4" of snow. Ironically, I was messing around on Google Maps the other day and I was showing my wife where I used to live for a bit in Lake Jackson, when I was a young rug rat. I said we'll have to go back for a visit, but I'll wait until it gets warmer!
Prayers to all in need. Have a great day!
Yikes! Snowing in the Richmond VA area this morning, about 4 inches so far and still comin'. So much for taking the Christmas lights down this weekend, although they WILL look nice in the snow tonight.
Good evening all,
A good day at work. Got some projects done. Very brisk on noon today, but sunny. Watched "Grimm" and the "Emerald City" tonight. Both were good. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Evening all!
I searched and found a 1/4" snow drift on my porch!
Half the bridges were hosed due to 0.1" of snow. Guess the 2 days of salt brine prep was not too effective.
Kev - you da man!
Phish -
Chief - take care of the eye!
Cold rain so far. The guessers can't decide where the sleet/snow line is going to be. They keep moving it. Yankee cold temps for a few days.Had emergency lazar eye zapping a few minutes ago. Had a tiny tare in my retina about 5:30. Eye Dr. buddy came back to his office up the street and fixed it. Lucky only real small. Eye fine now.Stay warm.
wrmcclellan Snowmagedden! Flurries! Some sticking to the roof! Kev - can you bring your plow down!
Snowmagedden! Flurries! Some sticking to the roof!
Kev - can you bring your plow down!
I am on my way Roy!!! As soon as I stock some wood. And shovel some snow.
Lee, Elect heat here is nuts for cost and we are within 10 miles of the LaSalle station Nuke plant. NG or LP gas is the only way to go.
Just put corn out for the deer. It is 8 degrees. Warming tomorrow.
Prayers for the latest victims in FL.
Roy
Quick get to the store and buy milk bread tomatoe soup and beer before the snow!!!!
Afternoon all,
Just heard there was a shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, local news channel 5 WPTV. Time of shooting 12:55 pm today. Several shots fired, 5 killed and possible a few other people hit. Right now all south Florida airports on alert! One person in custody, not sure if that person is the shooter or not.

Good afternoon,
Not getting as cool as the weather man said the other day, only going to the mid 50's overnight during the weekend.
Kev, it costs more to heat with electric because of the heating element drawing high current values. True electric motors in large sizes take a lot of power but residential electric heating can draw up to 3 times more power then a house hold electric motor. Ceiling fans don't take that much power, an electric drill might use a few watts more.
Didn't get much done on the layout in the last 2 days as it seems that my legs must have athrititus or leg cramps flaring up because of the cooler weather.
mid-20's this morning and for some reason it is a bone-chilling cold. When it was 15 a couple weeks ago it was not bone-chilling and the wind was blowing.
You guys will get a laugh out of this. For the last week the media has been yakking non-stop about snow today. At no time has it been predicted to be anything other than about 0.1" about 50 miles north of here. Just because a couple times the past few years we had a day where roads backed up, they now salt brine the bridges and roads if it is suspected a bird might T-T on a road or bridge. Spend millions. Today so far the snow is lighter than predicted (dusting) and will stay north.
Banks and Don - continued prayers!
Fife - a hairdo!
Don, glad to hear that your MIL is improving some.. Continued prayers.
Going out for breakfast with my train buddies today. Woke up early at 6:00AM. We don't eat until 9:00. Gives me more time to get in trouble on FB and the net. Got in a spat with my brother over politics and wound up unfriending him at his suggestion. I don't need that. Will see Helen today.

Good Morning from snowy 12°F Southern Ohio,
The kids got out from school early yesterday and the basketball game was cancelled. I spent a good part of the evening playing with Gabriel and his new radio control car out in the snow. It's not deep enough to sled in. Then the school went on a two hour delay.
We're getting new tires on the van today. I was plugging a hole in one of them the other day and judged going into winter was not enough tread. The tires need to be ordered as on hand inventory at tire stores was limited.
Banks – Prayers for your Mom's recovery.
Don – Prayers for your MIL too. The fact the other guy is able to get the layout wired speaks well of your original installation. It is so much easier to work on things like this when there is a code, methodology and pattern that was followed.
Kev – The Alcoas look great! Are you going to paint with rattle cans or air brush?
Brent – I like the bamboo floor. It is harder than oak and it stays looking good for a long time.
Fife - our kids liked the two hour delay too
Time to get kids to school, may God bless,
Jim
Mornin' boys. Clear and 17, with a couple inches of snohizo, along the Patterson Creek cut-off *former route of The Cincinnatian. School is 2 hours late, which makes grumpy youngest princess happy. Been told tree is coming down today.
Roy - Upon depositing it, found out it had already been spent back in Baltimore for gifts and a hair-dooooooo....
Hello there,
thanks for the prayers. They ended up giving Mom a bag of iv antibiotics for UTI and sending her home last night. She perked up a fair amount but today was downhill. I suspect that the UTI is not susceptible to the oral antibiotics they gave her. Morning will probably bring another trip to the ER.
Need to try to get to sleep.
Prayers for those in need.

Good day at work. Walk was cool but tolerable with proper clothing. Got to scrimmage with high school kids tonight. That was fun. Worked on puzzle. Made some progress. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Evening!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers re my MIL. Its helped. This afternoon they gave her another medicine and now her heart is finally in sinus rythm, and she is doing a LOT better. So will probably be moved from CCU to a different unit tomorrow.
Helped Lloyd get another layout operating w/DCS today. However he was disappointed, handed me an MTH engine and asked if I could get it loaded. The tender seemed light to me, even though their was a teather. Opened it up, only had a sound board.
Sent documents to the guy who is going up to get the Chicago layout running. I think this will work out well.
Gotta get the trash out, before it gets much later. Thanks again for all the well wishes and prayers.
Later
Wes ssent you an message the other day, but what has me thinking right now, After all I went thru, valve replacement in my heart and all. I've been having ear infections also. Kinda weird that we both had Heart problems and now have ear infections.
Don .... sorry to read the news ... darn sounds like you all are going through almost exactly what I did .... except she's doing better .... GOD bless her ... tell her I'm praying for all of you ....
Supposed to snow 1 = 3 inches here ..... have to be at VA Med center at 9:00 am ... on top of everything I've been through I now get a bad ear infection ....
