In my lifetime I have been Very close to but never in a torando. Drove away from a couple of them.
A morning out with a friend(Monday)we stopped at P&D, Menards and the P.O. for stamps. Then lunch. Menards still had the train items on display. I like their buildings but have no place to put them.

Sorry to hear that people were killed where you live! However according to the news 15 people died in Georgia over the weekend due to tornadoes.
To me the weather is going crazy! Maybe another rocket launch will cause it to get worse and caue more global warming too.

I went through hurricane Andrew on August 24th 1992. Talk about a storm!! A cat 5 hurricane(max winds over 212mph, ripped off wind recording instrament at Homestead Air Force base 212mph) destroyed almost everything in it's path. It had tornadoes inside the hurricane and destroyed things in an uneven path. Concrete block houses with just a few blocks high remaining, condo town house roofs sitting in the road, cars inside the houses, pine trees stripped bare, cars on top of cars, tracker tralers overturned, even a CSX freight train gondola turned over, mobile homes with 6 inch metal frames twisted like bread wrappers. Looked like an atomic bomb went off in Homestead FL that morning. My condo had hurricane shutters installed and a two pieces of roof shingle pierced one shutter. One other note about hurricane Andrew and that is it was forecasted to travel along the Florida east coast from Miami to Jacksonville but came straight across from the Bahamas instead.
So the tornado here in northern Palm Beach county was not that bad over all but bad enough. Also I have been through 3 other hurricanes and nothing was as nad as Andrew.
Temp going back up to 81 by thursday and then cooling off again for a few days. Today should be around 72 for a high, weekend temp is supposed to cool down some again.
Trying to get bathroom cabinets installed and H.O. model train layout board mounted to wall(fold down). Installed some more telephone poles on layout yesterday, this time on the upper level.
Morning. 49 degrees and warming into the 60's.

Roy, know what you mean. With the Mayoring and etc., don't have time. Use to love to do that and upgrades too.

Another day of rain here off and on. Pumped more water out of the pool today. Did not go to Helen's facility today but hope to go tomorrow if the weather is better. The road leading over there has a lot of pot holes now that were washed out by the rain. Tomorrow should be the end of it for a while.

Chief - mainly an issue of time. I will take a crack at it sometime in the next month. Problem is personal train repair projects piling up. Argh.
Have ridden out several big hurricanes in my short lifetime. Lots of tornado warnings here but have been lucky.

KRM, I know what you mean about tornados. Mrs. Buckeye and I went thru the Hanover tornado in 1974 (although I did not know the lady then and still have not met her) and that was one for the books as well. I had an excellent day at work as I finished the major work on the project I have been focusing on. Tomorrow will be the first test. Weather was brisk today, but got my walk in. I hope everyone has a good day.

All is going good here in southeast Florida. There was a tornado about 18 or 20 miles to the north of me in Juno Beach FL, part of Palm Beach county. We just got rains and some wind here south of the PBI airport. Nobody got hurt that much by the tornado here in Palm Beach coubty FL.
Yesterday the high was 86, today only supposed to be 75 and some rain.
Also there was a tornado near Albany & Camilla GA last night as well. My wife was on the phone with her cousin today.
Worked on the layout some earlier today, installed some telephone poles and fish line as wire.

Fife, I know what you mean about cruising the old neighborhood. It is weird. Been almost 11 years now for us and still strange. Seeing the house, we built and loved in 1990 be let go into disrepair by the new owners is rough. Raised both kids there, was on the same dirt for 30 years and lived in Plainfield over 50 years. In my gut that is still home. Even though I can barely recognize the place anymore. People! Ugh.
Glad the Pack won’t be back but did not want to see NE again either.

They fixed that and other things and shipped back for free. Getting excellent service out of Lionel.May start selling some of my NS engines. Got quite a few. Some haven't run in over a year. Why keep them on the shelf. Let someone else enjoy them. Probably sell them cheap.Have a good one.
Mornin' boys. More rain and 46 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. New light fixtures for the porch and train room need to go up. Get to try the new extender-pole-light-grabber-thingie on one of the burnt out bulbs in the cathedral ceiling. Hope no one is watchng.
Nice visit with family and neighbors back in Baltimore this weekend. Played poker for 5 hours at buddy's house. Youngest Princess did an overnight at her best friend's. Had nice chat with oldest Princess, and hugged the grandson, then back to the mountains.
It was odd driving up my old street, then seeing old fifedom. Kinda like cruising past an old girlfriend's house, knowing you probably shouldn't be there. Weird after 24 years. Moving on.

Blustery today. Winds hit 40-45 mph. Temps 60's.
Train show went very well. Had lots of kids running trains with Legacy Controllers. Did not have time to switch to CAB-1L's which are much simpler to use. Got sidetracked by the Legacy base which controls 2 TPC400's. Looks like the RS-232 data ports on both TPC400's failed. This took a while to troubleshoot - thinking the problem was the Legacy base. After much messing around finally pulled the data plug off the Legacy base and voila! All worked. I had the CAB-1L sitting in reserve just in case.
Phish - the modular is about 12 X 20. Fully scenicked - buildings - people - vehicles....
Did very little today. Did work on standard gauge layout and ran some trains. Found an old HO building that I had from a long time ago. Will make a good factory for a siding. I hope everyone has a good day.

been a hectic week. Thanks for the prayers. Mrs is very relieved and sore.Work was also a bit hectic. Spent most of Friday evening watching Inauguration coverage. Spent yesterday and today being lazy. Now Mrs & I are channel surfing while waiting for the new Kilchers to start
Looks like the tree will be coming down this week. It's dropping needles and drooping branches.

Lazy day. My wife and I served as greeters at mass last night. I've been watching football. Packers got stomped pretty bad and it looks like the Steelers may suffer the same fate.
I've got a regular doctor's appt. tomorrow AM. Then I have a few projects around the house. starting to get ready for my trip to Daytona with my brother for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. I've always dreamed of going to that race. Should be a great trip.

KEV, Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the Seaboard "citrus" paint scheme in different variations. MTH did make matching cars to go with it but as far as I know SAL never had any but ran stainless steel silver cars. The roofs I remember were probably Olive color and just covered with soot that made them look black. That reminds me about the Southern Railway Pelican paint scheme with the white roofs. How did they ever keep those clean?
It has been raining all day here. I have pumped water out of my pool several times this week and I would like to do it again before dark. A while ago I blew a circuit breaker while my pool filter, TV and water pump were all going at the same time. If that pump goes out, my garage could get flooded. Have to watch it closely. Thankful for the rain but need to shut it off for a while.

Getting somewhat hot again here in sunny southeast Florida, around 83 this afternoon for the high and a little windy, supposed to rain according to the weather man but no rain as yet.
Worked on my layout some today, installing telephone poles with fish line for wire. Ran a couple of trains to check for clearences with the telephone ploes, so far all is good.
Evening all. Back some time ago ( about 6 months or so ) I bought a abused trainset. It had a 2359 B&M that definitely looked like it either spent some time in a damp area ( garage, basement, storage shed, etc.) anyway sent frame out to be sand blasted. When got it back about 2 weeks ago it looked like new even been painted a nice color of White that makes it look old. anyway put it together and it didn't want to run. then playing with it I started getting the lights as it was starting in neutral. Go to put in in forward or reverse it would like short out. So I tried it with the drive wheels off the track and slowly just barely hit the rails and I got it running somewhat ( roughly ) so took motor out and cleaned down in the gears and relubed/oiled it. Tried again and it was doing better. Got it to kinda run on my 6' test track. It would do soso in forward and very rough in reverse. so back to just holding it with wheels barely touching track to make the connection and got it running better so now it would run up and back in fair condition. So I made a loop this afternoon with FT about 4' x 6' and ran it in each direction about 5 minutes each way off and on for 30 minutes and it's doing great now. I always say it real hard to kill a lionel Postwar engine. Not saying you can't but it tough to do so. Then decided to go thru some of my switches I have ( O-22's) after going thru them all I discovered I think I have enough for a while any way I have 20 switches and 18 controllers wired up and I think I have another 8 controllers that need rewiring.
Not much else going here at present. Looking forward to York, Pa this april. already made motel reservation.

It's been a great weekend. Friday our 20 week old chickens started laying eggs. After the 4-H meat chicken project we decided to get some laying hens. They are fun and the kids enjoy them too. The kids had really good grade cards, the twins are on the "B" honor roll, and the youngest is on the "A" honor roll. In celebration we invited the other grandparents and we all went out to dinner. Saturday started early with Gabriel at basketball practice, I had a meeting then Gabriel to baseball practice. Got home and washed the van and car. Then waxed the car. Who would ever think you would be waxing a car in January? Two Masses downtown and bride had tacos made for supper. After supper I prepped the Marx 999 set for the school auction, cleaning up some track for a nice oval and ensuring all ran well. The Marx engines are so reliable!
Roy – The train show sounds great. What size is the modular layout?
Kev – I was looking for a train item before Thanksgiving and had just about all the boxes down from the loft and opened. As I was putting it all away I jotted down what went into a numbered box or plastic tub. Next time maybe I can find what I'm looking for!
Mitch – Have fun with that 600 set!

Weather was good for a run outside today, but other things complicated the situation. The running area had standing water in some spots due to bad drainage, the wind was up as well and I was really upset by getting a hospital bill that I already paid. I suspected they had some bad billing practices in the past, but now I have proof. If any of you have seen Tropic Thunder, the scene where the Tom Cruise character "discusses" a certain situation over the phone will be similar to the conversation I will have on Monday with said hospital. Tomorrow will be a day of rest. I hope everyone has a good day.
Long couple of days preping, setting up the Lionel modular layout, and then staffing the big Plano Train show. Lots of kids and interestingly, a lot of young parents with kids asking questions about how to add accessories, buildings, etc., to their recent LionChief purchases. Looks like the new Lionel Plug and Play accessory line could be a hit?
Another day tomorrow 10-4 and then tear down of our Lionel modular layout. Btw - this show typ has about 12-13,000 paid attentance (12 and up) and another 5,000+ kids.

Sun is out for the first time in weeks and it will hit 60 today if they are right so I plan on not hanging out in the house. Maybe do some lane pothole repair.
Yesterday I spent hours sorting and re-arranging all my train stuff and boxes and never did find that girder bridges I know I had, ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Anyway after all of that I was reminded I gave those bridges to a friend who was going to build a store layout.
I also went through another box marked un-boxed cars and I found out where those two mice I had a year or two back were making camp. What a mess. had to clean all that up and re-pack everything in bubble wrap and throw out the chewed up paper.
Oh well at least it is organized better than it was. Some of the stuff I saved I just have to wonder,,,what was I thinking???

It has been a busy week. I did run some trains on the AllAboard Pioneer 600 set. Later I went to the train closet and played around with some old tinplate Marx. One engine is a little balky so I need to get some CRC electronic spray ans clean out the gunk and the wheels.
Today I was supposed to go to a model Railroad auction with a buddy but I had to bail out because I need to attend a funeral viewing for a former Superintendent of schools who was truly a great leader and a good friend to me. Died from complications of Alzheimer's at age 73.
My wife I have to serve as greeters at Mass tonight at 5:30 and then we will go out for a nice dinner.
Mornin' boys. Foggy & 42 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Spent a portion of afternoon tending to a busted hose to the garbage disposal. Used my nautical know-how to fix the problem (actually much easier working under a sink than below a hatch). Made a new buddy at the local hardware store. Some family time and card playin' tonight.
