Good Evening All,

V8Vega, I don't recall a "Valley" train club, but that doesn't mean much.  I have been involved with trains since high school, then went on hiatus from 1989 to 2004, (son born).  Do remember the "Tinplate Trackers" which a lot of the members established the "Angel Gate High Railers", located in San Pedro.

Think I have my layout all finished and ready for the holidays.  AND everything is running great.  Kay determined that she needed to clear out some of the older Christmas decorations, so I rescued them.  They are now in the train room, Cool  Still don't have the pictures done, but will do that soon.

On to other stuff, my friend Lloyd, (builds layouts) called and said he needed my help.  Some of you may recall, he and I built a layout for a Dr. back in 2011.  Long story VERY short, the laout was about 90% complete, and the Dr. ran into some legal issues.  (Lost all his assets and spent 18 months in prison).  Lloyd got the layout and has been storing it since then and trying to sell it.   It finally sold this past Wednesday!  So he asked if I would help disassemble it and prepare it for shipment.  It is going to go to Wilmette, Illinois.  And needs to be there BEFORE
Christmas!  Started disconnecting everything today, I think we will have it ready Friday afternoon.  THEN, Lloyd asked me if I would deliver it!!  So it looks like I'm going to do it.  (I am being hansomely rewarded.)  As it is now, I may start out this Saturday for Chicago area, in a rental truck.  Then deliver it Wednesday/Thursday, I hope.  Possibly make a trip to Rockford on Friday, and fly back home on Saturday.  The buyer has a local layout builder their that is going to put it back together.  A couple of early pictures;

The scenery was not finshed to accomodate the new owners purposes.  So I may have a busy week ahead of me.  (This has to be one of the craziest things Ive ever done.)

Things are starting to slow down at work for the holidays.  Won't be running full production next week, and the foreign nationals working here are starting to head for home.

Over the past couple of days, I've put orders in for more people figures for the Polar Express layout.  Last Saturday, I noticed that more people would make the layout look better.

Been looking for a Bumble figure from the Rudolf TV special and an Olaf figure from the movie Frozen.  Not having much luck finding suitable figures.  Looking for elves, too. Anybody out there have any ideas?

I suppose I could try to sell my wife the idea that I need a 3D printer to print elves Devil.

About all for now.

Dennis think of it this way. The enjoyment you got out of them. The thrill of the new to you feeling. I agree with you on the real expensive stuff now days. I lookat what I have at times and just feel sometimes I have to much. As I have trains that will never probably be used by me, lol.I have train sets I have never even run other than to test the engine and then I have train sets never even ran the engine lol.

Not much going on here. Suppose to be 25 in the morning. Thats cold for here. High of 41 tomorrow but then 60 on Saturday.

Talk to you all later

Mornin' boys.  20 mph steady winds and 17 degree temp makes it feel like 0 in the Potomac Valley.  The Harman is a-glowing right now.  Wish I didn't have to drive the youngest to school.  Interesting day ahead.

Good afternoon,

Back cracker did me in.

Ouch. One more time and I am done. Two weeks.

Went through all of my monthly bill receipts for the year and stored them away and burnt all of them from 2013.

Deer are lining up at the front door for a handout.

Had a beer with Brian and picked up a 55 gallon barrel he got me for a replacement burn barrel.

Temp got up to 20 but has been dropping since noon and will hit 0 tonight with strong wind out of the west. The north south roads are slick where it is blowing the snow across. If they are right Roy, -16 Sunday night with a daytime high of 1. And that is not windchill.

RT, is you e-mail not working? Sent you some info but never heard back? Huh?

Mornin' boys.  Partly cloudy and 34 along the Patterson Creek cutoff.  The day before the polar vortex, so I'll clean the pellet stove grates and throw a fresh bag in the hopper.  FifeMax got me up way too early.

Evening all. Not a lot going on. Tomorrow is Christmass shopping day lol. Been pulling trains out so I can rearrange the cubby hole ( as I callit ( it a space above the closet in here that is about 3'W x 3'H x8'L . ) Anyway I'm trying to do a inventory while I'm at it.

Figured out when it comes time to redo my insurance on them I need to up it. As I think my postwar train sets alone exceed the coverage or comes real close.

Hope all have a good day tomorrow

Good evening all,

Great news, Roy!  Some snohiozone came down today after I got to work.  Walk today was very tiring as sidewalks were all slushy.  I had to make sure every step was precise.   Work was quiet as pain two was gone.  Going to be very cold the next few days.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Roy, good news. My last was the fist without polyps also in over 25 years so they let me go 5 years this time.

Ray, sounds like you have a lot of nice plans.

We took a trip to Waldomart and got meds and some stocking stuffers for the grand kido Jordan. Loads for his new dinosaur train. Wink

Ray - glad you have a bit of a calendar to fill out the days. I have a lot of hobbies but as I get older I wonder which ones I will really stay active in. A bit of a puzzle as I continue my slow/plodding focus on cleaning out closets, etc., so hopefully I and the family are not burdened with a lot of junk. A lot of the junk is associated with things I was interested in and saved for a future activity. Now some of it needs to go...

Good morning all,

Roy, glad your procedure went well.  Seems like I get one almost every year now.

Picked up some Christmas candy on sale yesterday. Getting a slow start today.  It's almost 10:00AM and I still have to shower and eat breakfast.  No matter, nothing important to do today anyway.  Going to Senior group Christmas dinner tonight.  That's probably the high point of the day.  Also found out about a place where retired rails get together once a month.  Might do that in January.  Dry weather is giving me skin itches.  Driving me crazy sometimes.  I am usuing hydrocortosone but it only gives temporary relief.  Might have to visit my dermatologist after Christmas.  This is my first Christmas alone in 57 years.  Well, not really alone but living alone.  My kids still see me and will come over the holidays.  Wife's facility is planning a Christmas lunch next Tuesday.  My DIL, grandson and I will go to that.  Two sons have to work that day.  I cooked some old frozen okra yesterday that I found in the freezer.  Won't do that again.  It worked like a laxative I think. My plumbing is not up to that kind of stuff anyway.  My nephew in North Carolina who is a fishing guide near Jacksonville has been catching some nice speckled trout and a few striped Bass this month.  Gettin limits on the trout.  I just drool over the pictures.  Looks like good eating.  I had a piece of swordfish at a local restaurant lately.  It was over cooked and too thin.  Can't eat too much swordfish anyway because of the mercury problem they say.  I figure at my age, I will outlive in problems like that.

Cloudy and 51 this morning. High 50's today and low 50's tomorrow.

All Christmas shopping done. Never left the sofa except to answer door for UPS/FedEx/Amazon/USPS.

Chief - just routine.

By tonight I will be looking at a chicken boullion cube like it is a $100 steak at Ruth Chris.

Hard to believe a 3/8" cube was ever a chicken to begin with - and why does it take a nuclear blast to dissolve it? On to the yellow Jello....yum!

Good morning,

17 now, might get to freezing today, then 8 tonight and down from there. Winter has set in for sure. Cat is in.

I am a hydraulics guy, but electricity and hydraulics are a lot alike but with hydraulics if you have a leak something moves. This problem I had yesterday with the layout had me for awhile.  Bang Head The new cars are a impossibility to work on.

Fife, mine to, even now and he is 37. Tongue Tied

Roy best of results tomorrow! Have fun today. Wink

Morning gang,

Sunny and 39 this morning. Not as chilly as it was in the C'Boys flight home last night. High 50's today and 60's tomorrow, then a cold front.

8n - glad the Polar run was a success! Makes the effort worthwhile.

Mike C - glad your run went well!

Colonoscopy tomorrow so today is "all out"...

Right around freezing and drizzle here today.

My wife and I were principals in putting on the Polar Express event at the KATY museum this year.  We ran two hour open houses, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.  Near as we can figure, we had about 250 kids come through.  Including their families, there were something like 600 people.  My Polar Express layout was a popular exhibit.

As Sir James commented, some of the small hands were troublesome.  Not sure why some parents don't supervise their kids at events like this.  No trains on the floor, so, all in all, it was a good day.  Spent today taking the layout down and cleaning up from the other activities.

About all for now.

Good evening all,

Did 7 miles in 1:44:49 and was not tired or sore.  I think I found those 6 or 7 seconds I have been looking for.  Need to build on this weekend.  Cards are all done as well.  Weather is wet but above freezing for now.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
