Hello there

Been Missing.

A little late but I wanted to mention D Day. Sad there was little mention of it in the Media. They're too busy with Politics I guess.

Been missing 'cause work is crazy and Mom's health issues. Took her back to the hospital again yesterday. (she was in on Memorial day as well) Another TIA and the continuing UTI

Best get moving

Prayers for those in need

Good morning/afternoon, We have been having a run of great weather here on the North Bluff. Today is full sun, blue sky,and a nice breeze. I feel bad for all of you getting to much rain. We had that last spring and into summer.

Banks, Prayers for your mom.

V8 Dennis, thanks for the tip.  Chromebooks sounds interesting.  Will try to give it a look.

Think I will go to the caregiver meeting today even though Helen's care is out of my hands now because I like to see the people there and maybe pick up some information.

Thinking about doing an overnight at the beach soon.  Having computer trouble searching for a hotel in the area.  Need to get my pool filter water intake fixed so I can go away without worrying about weather or not it will get hung up.  Needs to be replumbed I think.

Afternoon all from beautiful sunny 70°F Southern Ohio,

I’m still working on the Chicken coop. Grandson painted it while I was at work yesterday and we started the nesting box last night. Next will be to decide between a metal roof and a shingle roof. I need to look in the loft to see what trim pieces I have stashed up there. For a little project the trim will cost as much as the metal.

Ray – I bought a Chromebook in February, and where I do like it better than the MAC pro, I’m still not in love with it. The operator’s guide is next to nothing and you go online for the instructions, but maybe I’m missing something but I found it to be you are pretty much on your own to figure it out.

Biggest paradigm shift for me is everything automatically is saved to the cloud. I’ve not figured how to save to a thumb drive, maybe it is obsolete. The word processor is weak and you end up downloading a version of Word to get more editing features. Same with your email, the onboard email program stinks.

All of my negative comments may be able to be taken care of if there were instructions in a hard copy manual, as some of us older users still feel comfort with a printed version of something to read.

Banks – Hope and pray your mom is doing better. Mike – What changed besides the calendar to make the IT guys think a re-run will work?

Dennis – Every now and then I do a purge of parts and pieces. I like the space I gain, and sometimes I wonder, why was I keeping some of the stuff I keep, (like leftover metal roof trim pieces).

Buckeye – I hope you are feeling better

May God bless Jim

Happy Tuesday!!!

JimPhish....it's a nice sized backyard long driveway, going to try to put a 12X20 or 24 prefab in.  No tax as its not a permanent structure.

The attic needs to be finished and that's where the layout will be.  Probably an around the room or half around maybe a double track main with a trolley line.  It's not going to be very deep but I'll have time to play.

Contract should be back on Thursday then the lawyers kick in.  2 weeks for that.. Moving the Princess out on the 26th, I'll be there on the 25th.....

Off to bed...yeah no word on D-day and that's a shame.

Hello all

Just got back home to the Ol' Pueblo. Feels like it was a hot one today.

Been using a Chromebook for over 3 years now. Bought it as a temporary computer and just never went back. It has it's limitations, but if it's a work thing I use a work computer and if it's a me thing I just learn to do without.

More work on the Twin Coaches tomorrow after I drop off the work truck.

Bob,

Did you find a manual to work with the Chromebook or just figure it out?

Hello all

Slept in. Felt good.

Jim - I have had to look up a few things but overall I just kinda figured it out.

Dennie - mine is an older version so it has an ethernet connection so I don't have to use the wireless.

Roy - we did clean the sand out but otherwise, it's about the same:) It does roll and have air in the tires...

Afternoon Fellas

I'm sure you've been wondering 'Now why don't he write', no I'm not dead or dying (thank The Good Lord). Just been very busy with work, was fighting a very bad bleeding nose Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, and now the roof on the house is being replaced, and we leave for vacation this coming Sunday.

Computers... UGH! I built a new desktop a few years ago when Windows7 was popular, it had all the bells and whistles, etc, etc. well two weeks ago (at least that is when I noticed it) the internal backup drive died, so last week (prior to the nose bleed) I tried to replace it with a new one... got to it this past Monday and Windows10 decided it no longer wanted to work at all. Spent many hours on Monday and Tuesday trying to get it to work... no balls. So dropped it off with The Geek Squad last night. First time I have EVER had to pay someone to fix my computer... really beyond ticked. Why would replacing a hard drive (non-OS drive) cause the OS to fail? Bang Head I've done this 100s of times and never had an issue.

Good evening all,

Good day at work as pain two was absent again.  Team did much better tonight as we had 11 players from the start and led most of the game, but lost at the end 3-2.  I played 50 minutes out of 50.  Weather still nice.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning, cool here to. Rain is coming our way and will hit 85 later, Did not know If I dare hit the last end-tails with stain now or not. Would be nice to be done with this project so I went ahead and did them.  Had to know it, As soon as I finished the last end-tail it started to rain. Bang Head  Bang Head.  So I put a plastic sheet up around it and we will just have to see how it turns out. Weather man was off by 2 hours.   Angry

Brent, Windows 10 killed my laptop. Boot sector corruption. Microsoft on line support told me the laptop could not handle it, but it loaded it anyway. So after a new hard drive they installed 8.1 for me . Now everytime I start it up it wants me to download 10. Grumpy

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Good night mowing the yard.   No bog downs and no tall misses either.  Bad news is that we have to replace sewer line at some point in the near future.  Newly remodeled bathroom will be partially torn up, but most of it will be intact.  These things happen.   Was hoping next owner of house would have to deal with this.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening all,

Not much to report except went out to breakfast for our regular weekly meal with my train buddies.  Did not need any lunch.

Newly married son is coming over tomorrow and we will visit my wife together.

Saw a rerun of the "Highway Men" show on TV last night with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylan Jennings and Kris Kristofferson.  Good show.  Inspired me to play my Willie Nelson CD while I was running trains today.  Local country station does not play any of that stuff anymore.  Don't recognize anything they play now.  Thank goodness for CD's.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 61 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  S'posed to shoot up in the 90's this weekend.  Might have to do early day on yatchett (teak needs oiling).

SPMan - Not sure if they are "streaming" yet, but WVSB out of Romney, WV, plays nothing but great old country hits.  You can always get SIRIUS and tune into Willie's Roadhouse.

92 expected today, with the threat of storms of course.

I have always liked country music but like others, except for a few, I don't know the new generation. They don't sing like old country either.

Happy Saturday!!

Was up early for Doctors appointment and took the Road Star...nice ride and took the long way home....50 miles in 1 morning...Left the Jetta at the garage and pulled out the roadrunner, so the fair weather toys are in 1 spot.

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes.....Contract signed, now the financial and moving work commence.  Spoke with my mortgage guy 4 times yesterday and the Princess and her consort twice.  Yup, it's really happening....Due to doctors appointments, I may leave after my appointment on Friday, head to Florida, pack up the kids and be back to work on Tuesday...geez, just like old times....

SO, I have rethought the attic, I can use the back wall and make the main layout bigger with 2 outlaying arms - think U shaped - and try to get O-42 curves on a double track main.  The main town area will be against the back wall and one of the other areas will be Christmas/Winter and the other Halloween/Spooky town for my daughter.  God knows I have more than enough...

Of course a wrinkle has popped up and my EX was no help - as usual - the kids told the complex they were leaving end of June back in April and, of course, no one wrote it down or got it in writing.  The EX is usually very adamant about stuff like that and to her credit can negotiate, but didn't even raise her voice per the Princess....so they're on the hook for $2200 or 2 months rent....we'll work on that when I get there or worry about that in July after close.  And I'm sure there will be no help from the EX and her son, financial or otherwise....

Work is good, I have my own little cubicle a large one at that and its nice to have all the weekends off...

Brother and his family from DC are here, so we'll be entertaining them for a bit.

See ya soon!!

Banks - Looks like you picked the right week to go "downy oshun."  Constantly looking, and scaling back a little on the size and scope.  Still need someone to come in and by current digs first.

Sigh

Good afternoon from beautiful Hollywood!

My family, (bride, and our three grandkids) flew into Los Angeles this morning to visit with our daughter.  Turns out I started SPF unnecessarily.  Going to hook up with Don later into the week.

The Chicken coop project is coming along.  All the walls are built and test fitted, so when we get home it will be ready to set up.  It is a modular design so it can be built, assembled, then later if need be taken back apart.  I’m pleased how it looks and it has been fun working on it with Gabriel.

Rich - Good luck on the house.  So you would use a bedroom for the layout instead of the attic?  That is a good idea about the garage without a foundation.

I’ll check in later

May God bless

Jim

First the impeller was to tight and the rotor couldn't even turn. after getting that fixed the relay working but thats it. not sure whats next in testing it.

Hope all had a good weekend

Good evening all,

Went to a graduation party Friday, came home and fell asleep in chair.  Saturday went to Indy for birthday party for 2 grandsons, did some shopping and went to another graduation party Saturday night.  Came home and internet was down.   Indy 11 did clinch a playoff spot witn 4-1 win Saturday night.   Indycar race was sheer disaster this weekend.  Will finish it on Aug. 27?   Did very little today.   Found out  a singer we saw in concert about 3 years ago was killed.  That, plus all the chaos in Orlando makes you shake your head.....  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
