2005 New Years Resolutions
Posted by FJ and G on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 2:45 PM
It's December, that time of year when millions of Americans decide once again to shed some pounds.

But we model railroaders have more important resolutions than that, don't we now?!

Here's mine:

1. Finish my layout (or at least get the trains running as it will never actually be finished until I'm finished)

2. Not buy any more trains

3. Find a gal who likes toy trains and marry her (sadly, that was the last 2 years' resolutions)

4. Invite some toy train buffs over to have some beers and run the trains

5. Attend at least one Trackers meet (probably Train Days in Manassas)

6. Replace my Williams handrails with wire ones

7. Custom paint and modify an RS-3 into an RS-1.

8. Continue to support real railroads by riding the VRE to work and back daily

9. Visit Cass Scenic

10. Visit York, where my sisters live

I make the same resoloution every year. I resolve to ride as many trains as I can
as often as I can.Unfortunately, that's not as often as I'd like.
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.

It would be easier to bash an S-2 shell into an RS1 than to start with an RS-3

1. Stop planning my layout. Start building my layout.
2. Two words: MORE TINPLATE!
3. Add TMCC, better lighting, or sound to at least one more engine or scratchbuild something cool.
4. Ride the real Accela.
5. Go to York.

(Wow, these are way more fun than "Loose 20 lbs.)

1. Clean my layout (man do they collect dust)

2. Get second ZW properly installed.

3. Get the DCS TIU properly installed.

4. Install the DCS 3.0 upgrade (I keep putting it off).

5. Clean up layout wiring.

6. Replace the dead (in one direction) 0-22 switch.

7. Replace the 0-22 crossover with 0-72 switches for higher speed crossover.

8. Be more diligent in oiling locomotives.

Roy

I get to move my layout to a new house for the new year. I designed it to be taken apart and moved. We'll see....
