Aaaaaand, here's the morning after report (from the half marathon):
OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Morning. Chilly and sunny. Going to 50 and then rain.
Off to PT this AM.
Strange. You think a big saw blade that cut mighty logs would be tough. One nail or piece of metal, blade damaged bad. Use to be a father/son saw mill near me in southern part of the county. Dad would always run his metal detector up and down each log before sawing. Also, tree guys have to carry a big libility insurance for there work. Tree falls on house or something, they pay.
Hope all have a great day.

Aloha. Grey and snow showers. Supposed to get pretty cold during the next week or two. Ah well... February. Watched the big game with my FiL which was fairly entertaining in a sloppy sort of way.
Roy, that sounds like quite a challenge. We had the same circumstance with not quite such a wide tree too close to the house that the bride loved, and fortunately it blew down in a microburst with each gigantic branch falling just between houses, garages, bushes, cars and air conditioners. Nothing damaged! What will you do to the stump?

Like Doug said we have had a change in the weather.Working on seeing how many cars the three motor ALCO A-B Set can pull. It is looking like it will be able to pull more cars than can go through the 34” radius Marx 1/2 curve section on the layout so I may never know. Your smart to get a tree monkey to take that monster tree down Roy.

Evenin' boys. Cloudy with a chance of BUCKEYE in the Mid-Atlantic region!
Frank stopped by to see the layout, we chatted a few hours, had some great eat-em-ups (thank you), and then he was on his way. Always good to catch up with my Coffee Pot friends.
I hope you did a "stop-n-frisk' on that character as he was going out the door !

If you mean food, hope you fed him GRITS. That's his favorite. Guess he went through your train engine and car detector on the way out. He may have collected a birthday present.
Looks like rain now and temp still 50. Suppose to turn cold.
Off to Charlotte [Concord] Bass Pro Friday. Taking a NS diesel that has always had issues. Lionel is taking it at their store and passing it "back stage" to repair. Saves me shipping. Says they will try to do in March. Fine with me.
Later
He likes his grits with a little OLD BAY.
Good evening all,
Very quiet day at work. Weather was lousy both going in and leaving. Pain two never showed up and pain one left after a half day. Taking a personal day tomorrow. i doubt if either shows up tomorrow, but the snow will continue tonight and tomorrow and I do not need that headache. Lionel catalogs came today. More in there than I thought. Some items might be worth getting. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Nice sunny weekend. Saw a boat on a trailer headed north through town late Saturday afternoon - was still draining water out of the transom. I suspect that somebody took advantage of the temps. in the 50's and took a boat ride or maybe did some fishing.
This morning, the wind was out of the north west, running at 30 mph, with the temps. somewhere in the 20's and cloudy.
Still busy withe the robot group, so no train stuff. The kids got the prototype together and running around. This is generating some monor design changes and additions.
All for now.
Aloha. Colder and snowing. Looks to be more of the same for the next day or so. Great photo of Fife and Buckeye - the layout looks nice too!
Cold today,,,17 right now my make it to 23 with a dusting of snow.
I was going to meet Raj and Mark for lunch today but Raj got sick and called off. So now I don't have any plans. Got to drop off the taxes sometime soon.
Good morning all !
Walk done and breakfast finished. Drop in for a bit before I have to start getting ready for CHF group this morning.
Don't want to rub it in but 90* yesterday and again for today. High wind warnings have expired so just very warm and dry as a popcorn toot. Finally my hands and feet aren't freezing but my legs are so dry if I rub them together I'd probably sound like a cricket.
Ugh taxes . Barely started gathering all the stuff together.
Well I guess it is time to get moving.
Later all.
Morning. Meetings all morning. One here just ended with me running trains for the folks. They had never seeen or been in the Train Box.
45 degrees and mostly sunny. Suppose to have flurries?????
Getting ready for more meetings. This time in Raleigh.
Have a good one.
Stayed home today. Ran errands. Worked on my N&W DC engine. Still does not want to run right. Whatever I did, I must have really messed up. How do you screw up a can motor......? Back to work tomorrow. Ash Wednesday. Excuse to eat out to get a fish meal. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening gang!
The tree guys started this afternoon. It is even bigger when you look at cut branches. One from 20 ft up is 18 in in dia. I measured the canopy and it is over 70 feet wide.
High 50's today, sunny, and very nice. Will get into high 60's tomorrow and maybe 70 Thurs/Fri, then cooler for weekend. It has quit raining again and now we are an inch behind for the year. Way over for last 3 months however. But ground is drying up. The news said last night that the area lakes have released nearly 1.5 billion gallons of water to make room for spring rains. All the boat ramps are still closed due to high water.
Regards, Roy
The cold is already here,
10 going to 19 cloudy.
Hope to get the grout done on the tile we did yesterday today and mark this one off the list.
Good Morning from cold (18F) and snowy Southern Ohio
A few inches of snow added last night but the roads a good so the drive to work was fine. I may buy a different car. It’s a 2005 Honda Civic with 14,000 miles. I know the previous owner and the car. I had an ’04 Civic and loved it. It won’t be a comfortable as my ’03 Avalon, but it has 206,000 miles.
Fife-Buckeye- Great picture! You guys are looking good for old timers!
KRM-Progress; good job, knocking off the honey do list
Roy-That is a big tree
Mike- I can’t get to any of the Ash Wednesday services because I don’t get off till 7 pm. I’ll start my Lenten penance without the service.
Chief-Maybe you’re on the something having a train running session at each meeting. You could call it training.
May God Bless
Jim

Tile job is done and off the list.Wife is happy. Can't get much better than that.
Evening all!
Hit 72 today. Nice!!! Same tomorrow.
Tree is nearly done. Just the trunk, but about 12 ft high, 4 ft diameter at the bottom and 2.5 ft where it flairs into 6 very thick (one is 18 in) branches that are all no more than 5 ft in length. They bring the big chainsaw tomorrow. I have about a cord of good wood 2 - 6 in in diameter. The rest was too large to manage and it would take too long and cost even more to have them split the wood. It was like Cirque du Soleil watching these guys work. Amazing how they placed each rope high in the tree to manage each 10-25 ft branch as it was cut and then have it managed/swing/drift down 40-50 ft to just the right spot to miss the houses, shed, fence, etc. The guy in the tree one handed the chain saw like an artist while suspended on ropes. They stump grind tomorrow. There is about a 12-15 ft circular area to grind. A lot of very large surface roots.
So far we know the tree is at least 40-50 years old and was about 60 ft tall. We will check the age again when the main trunk is cut. The branches increased 2 inches in diameter the last 3 years based on the growth rings. Previous to that the branches only increased 2 inches in diameter over 6 years. Makes no sense with the drought for 10 years up until last year.
Busy day at work. Glad I stayed home Tuesday and kind of wished I had done so today. Both pains were at work. Fortunately not much is on my plate tomorrow, but enough to keep me busy. Service was so slow at where I ate that I missed the "Ashes to Go" on the Circle today. Did get to visit with oldest daughter and grandkids while delivering some items to them from my sister. Did very little tonight as there was no soccer. Hoping to take truck tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good night all. 26 degrees and breezy. Low humidity and dew point. Dry.
Got a lunch tomorrow and that is all [knock on wood].
Fighting a cold. Trying the Zicam thingy.
Sleep tight.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 17 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Apparently Buckeye brought with him 2 days of snohizo and an arctic freeze. Hope to narrow down the WV situation this weekend.
Grandson was here the past 2 days, so we constructed a carpet central, and ran just the postwar stuff. 2055 and 2025 did the honors.
Life's short / Run'em fast.

Morning guys hows it going today. Okay here. Nothing train wise going on. Went out to the garage for a bit on the cooler side out there even with a jacket. Presently 45* going up to 49* they say. No complaints here as Saturday and sunday its supose to really get down in the low 20's at night. But next week it going up again and by the following Sat. there saying about 70* :)
Good morning all,
Good news! Wife started her first day of day care today from 9 to 3.
Helps me get a long needed rest from caregiving. If she does well with it we will increase to more days per week. Facility is part of our local Senior Center but run by professionals. Cost is very reasonable compared to one on one help at home.

Hello all
Back on the mountain for another week.
Phish - I work on Mt Graham in eastern southern Arizona.
Well the Datsun passed emissions w/ flying colors. I was just going to run it thru to see what equipment it was supposed to have and where the mixture was. I hooked up most of the hoses and leaned out the mixture before going thru (it was way rich). The drivers window fell into the door at the station when I tried to open it, lol. Not broken, just need a new regulator. Actually drove it on the freeway for a bit. Drove fairly well all things considered. Ordered white spoke rims for it as the mags that were on it are rubbing on the calipers. Didn't really like them anyway.
The Corvair club visit to the bus/trolley group was a big hit. We had 19 members show up. Normally we get no more than 12 or so. We had to break up to get into the breakfast place, but it worked out. Huntington car move got delayed again, but they did get the other temporary bolster pin in.
