Hi Big-Boy,

Yes Galvanize does have Zinc in it and yes it is not EPA friendly. I do not believe it is cadmium coated. There are other plating that use Zinc with chromate coating. It’s really the Zinc that is the bad boy. The big difference is lead can led to lead poisoning.

BTW – 80% of your car steel is Galvanized plated.
