Good evening all, Cold and windy today with lots of soccer. Watched "my" soccer girls get 2 goals in a 6-2 loss to an undefeated team. Reffed 2 youth games which were easy duty as both were blowouts. Blood sugar down to 100 after all that. Yes!! Wife and I worked on jigsaw puzzle this evening. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all,

With the trip to Hershey cancelled I worried unnecessarily about where to spend some cash.  Well, when one door closes another trap door opens.  There was a train show today in Brampton that I wasn't aware of until last night.  Picked up a set of lightly used K-Line F3's with TMCC in Canadian Pacific garb, a Lionel NIB 0-4-0 reissue of a PW design, Lionel coal loader and coal ramp plus some odds and ends.

Don, might the engines drivetrain or linkage be binding ever so slightly somehow?  More of a common problem with steam locos though.  Only TMCC issue I've had was with one Atlas F unit that had 2 speeds, dead slow and flat out.

Was gonna comment on the, quote, "put my junk in somebody elses trunk" statement...but then this is a family friendly forumSmile, Wink & Grin

Fife - GF = girl friend www.redhelmetsmcride.org This is a ride to honor the LODDs of the prior year (My Fire Dept.'s Davy was an LODD at Christmas time...), starting at Walkersville, MD to the National Fire Academy at Emmitsberg, MD. All riders are encouraged to wear the fire helmet of their department. I will be riding in honor of Davey and the recent passing of my good friend and mentor Dickie. As long as the weather holds up, I'll be riding the Road Star.

Good morning all,

Late start today.  Took a walk in the park and breakfast is just getting started at 10:30AM.  Guess you could call it brunch.

Don, I too am guilty of too much talk of myself but thankfully you all listen when I need you.

Had a call from my friend who wants to eat out all the time yesterday.  Was trying to get the answering machine to get it but my son picked it up so I was stuck and had to talk to him.  Of course he wanted to make a new time to eat out.  I handled it badly.  Just said no without a whole lot of explanation.  Will just have to be more honest and tell him how I really feel.

Don, nice job on getting the Chief's stuff running.  Hope he feels better soon.  Might see you at the train meet if I can make it.  I hope so.

later,

Ray

Good Morning Guys! 69 and Raining down the Jersey Shore! Not crazy about posting here from the Lap top. For some reason and I have others look at it, it just jumbles it all together. The desk top is old and it is being dropped off today to see if it can be upgraded or time to replace. Today I am building a portable test bench. Mike C: Good to hear from you. Glad that your health is improving. I had to laugh about the thermostat war. Buckeye: My financial advisor told me to wait a bit before I started collecting my SS. You and everyone else can take a sigh of relief! lol SPMan, Ray, Glad that your son is ok. That is nothing to play with. Banks: Congrats on your Grandson taking 2nd place. Rich: Enjoy Zombie Fest. Chief: Get Well Soon. AF53 (Ray) and I will be at the Round the Clock! See you guys there. Fife: We will have the Ice Cream in April! Enjoy the Day! John

Its always interesting to see what is going on with everyone else, but that is secondary.  (Watch me tick someone off saying the information they post is not important, don't mean too.)

OCT 4th Got up to 36 degrees and sleet. It is now 37 with drizzle. What can you say to that?? Tongue Tied

Don I am thinking that is the way Jack must of done it too. Two windows open at once.

Tell Chris, I like my Silverado a lot. Mine is a 1500 Z71 extended cab with the All Star Package. It gets 17 to 18 around here and 20 mpg on the road. Much better than my old Dakota. Mine is a 2011 already 3 years old. I have heard the 2014s have the most recalls of any new vehicle. I don't like getting a first year of anything for that reason. Kind of like to let them figure out what they missed first. But the 2014s sure are nice. I did get an e-mail from Jack about 6 months ago and he was doing fine.

Got to make something to eat.

Thanks guys for letting me start this POT early [I saw that SJ and Kev].

Kev,

Thanks for the compliment, but I could NEVER take over for RI Jack.  I to miss him him, his posts were very  comical and truly enjoyable.  Honestly, the reason I posted as I did was that I was thinking when I have posted it seems everything is "all about me".  Should try and be more of a conversationalist.   So I had two screens open one to post on, the other to review what others have posted.  Was working well, then I got to your post and SJ's posts, pretty much one liners about weather.  Now what in the world was I going to say to that.  (And my wife said dinner ready), So I took the easy way out.  Smile

Now to try and correct.....

SJ,  Just echoing what you are already aware of.  I'm sure the weather will be changing very quickly now.  True fall will definitely be in place before Halloween.  Just hope its not as severe as last years.

Kev,  Chris is trying to decide on a Silverado.  He definitely wants one, but concerned about the payments and related costs.   With his job he could afford it.  But I'm trying to convince him that with new car interest rate, finance as much as you can.  Leave your nest egg alone and keep adding to it.  Then if you wanted to in a couple of years pay it off.  Normally I wouldn't recommend this to someone that young, but he is extremely conservative when it comes to money.

Banks,  Glad you didn't start a fire, whew!!  Need some pictures posted with your grandson and his bike.  If you see Roy and John at Round the Clock, ask John what he and I had said to the waitress when I met him there.  Finally,, and most importantly best wished for the wedding.

Mike, Trace Adkins -- that had to be a good show!

Off to watch Hawaii 5 0, Blue Bloods and call it a day.

Could be interesting LOL! Wife and I went to see Trace Adkins in concert tonight. Good show. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

HelloThere

Just finished last Saturdays project. I replaced 2 valves and repaired a bad solder joint on the boiler piping. Killing time now just to make sure I didn't start a fire with the torch. One of the valves was close a joist. Now I can build fire. This is the latest I've ever gone with out one. Gonna need it for the weekend.

Last hill climb of the season on Sunday. Grandson ended up 2nd in points this year at the Drags. Not bad considering he missed a race to play baseball

Roy and John. we gonna do Round The Clock again?

Off t Check for smoke and go to bed.

Gotta check on 2 jobs in the morning and niece gets hitched at 1pm tomorrow.

Doug.....If ya run into Laz some where let hin know he's missed

Prayers for those In need

Good Evening,

Had a good day today!  We had to get a new credit card processing terminal, due to the new security chips being added to CC's.  As of 2015, March I think, if you are not using the new terminals.  Then the merchant becomes liable for any security issues that the customer may have as a result of the equipment the merchant is using.  Anyway, our CC processing service of course sells the new terminals for $490.  Thought was just going to have to pay it.  However, I found a company I could get the same maching for $239 !!  Received it today, hooked it up, software downloaded, and it is all running great!

DougDG,  Why are they "wisdom" teeth?  Looking forward to see some pictures of your halloween efforts.

Banks,  Don't know just where, but I did see a post from Laz, he was doing well.

SP Ray,  Really glad to hear your son is OK!  That's scarey especially with the heat.  Certainly can understand you not out in your train room recently, even I have avoid mine, due to the heat.  I will see if Bob is back from vacation yet, then "maybe" might see you at TTOS Sunday.

Anjdevil2,  With all the activities you got going, can understand why your cold came back.  Think you need some rest.  Envy you guys with those "country drives" available to you all.  Sure beats the concrete jungle.

Mike,  With your activity level in soccer, surprised your blood sugar is that high.  I sure have noticed a difference in mine since I've been laid up with my leg, as opposed to the activity level I had earlier.  Did you count how many of us are taking the meds.  I didn't but sure it is a high percentage.

RT, The caboose trip sure sounds great, what kind of a caboose, hopefully one with a copula.   Chief may be contacting you for some electro couplers from ER.  He wants to incorporate them in the engines I'm upgrading.  Post some pictures of your ride.

Roy,  Congrats on the SS, however you cant jump ahead and get the allotment from Buckeye at MY expense!  He's been contributing to mine for over a year.  I would suggest tapping Bob Kellar.  Talked with George the other day, which was good.  Just send me the bill and I will buy you and John lunch at York.  I've been installing a ER upgrade in a couple of K-Line switchers for the chief.  Just not enough room, think I'll put a pair of speakers on the front of the engine, one on each side of the hood.  Hope your family is well!

Fifedog,  Are you moving?  Been confused about that.  Hope Fifepup doing well with his driving, we had our issues out here as well.  I think 3 was the magic number.

Oh Yeah, talked with Chief.  Frankie doing well after surgery.  Concern Chief may have picked up pneumonia, he's not certain.  Definitely needs rest, was on his way back home today.

Train News;  Been working on the Chief's stuff, going OK but started over 3 times, trying to get everything to fit.  But it works anyway.

Have a question, have an older TMCC diesel.  And no matter what I do have to have the remote DCS, Cab2, up to 13mph, BEFORE it will move!  All the features work well, no other problems.  Any ideas will be appreciated.

Need to get going dinner ready.  Have a great weekend !  And STAY HEALTHY !

Mornin' boys.  And, a special good mornin' to our "Lost" boys. Smile, Wink & Grin  Pleasant 54 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Start my vacation today.  NS was nice enough to send me off last night, with 8103 (Norfolk & Western) on an empty hopper train, and 1069 (Virginian) on an intermodal, both northbound from Baltimore.  It was super quiet county-wide because of the playoff game starting at 5.

cheapclassics - When everything is swirling around us, the only thing we truly have control of, is ourselves.  People need you, so do as you should.

Roy - YORK!  Was just thinking the same.  I will be hunting for an 1882, either original or reissue.

anjdevil - Wifey and I will be kinda in the same area on the 11th, but headed over the Potomac.

It made me happy seeing our old faces this month.  Still, I think of some of our other mia's.

Good evening all,

Mike C, Welcome back.  Glad to see you posting again.  I was diagnosed recently with diabetes but so far am just on diet and excercise.  Have cut out sodas a long time ago but I still have to watch out for sweetened fruit juices.  They have sugar too.  I've been drinking a lot of decafinated tea lately with artificial sweetner.  Sounds like that's bad too.  Have to check it out.

My son got home tonight without incident after spending the afternoon in ER.  We are all glad that he is back in his  home again.  I told him to do a follow  up with his primary care physician.

Good night all,

Ray

Evening all!

It has been a while since my last post. Things just get busy.

Buckeye - you need to look at some 3rd shift positions - I filed for SS last week to start Jan 1st. This may change based on the job situation.

Mike C - welcome back!

York is in a couple of weeks Thumbs Up

Weather cooling a bit. Had a little rain today.

Working on installing ERR TMCC and Railsounds into a 3rd Rail NYC 0-4-0 tank loco I picked up at York in the spring.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Mike just keep in mind you do deserve treats here and there so yes your doing great. I'm lucky I'm only on pills but I still have to be careful and I can't get it thru my thick head that all soda is, is flavored water but I refuse to pay $1.60 and up for a bottle of water no bigger than a coke bottle lol. Guess it comes from growing up it was free everywhere and still is at home. Even some restaurants.

What I couldn't comprehend for the longest time the diet pepsi or flavored water even thou it had substitute for sweetener your body still reacts to the same as sugar so there really no sense in using it. It's a false as far as Blood Sugar goes.

What really kills me is I'm actually a scratch baker by trade and now can't even really do it at home.

Glad to hear about your soccer girls and how well they did this season.

Hey all not a lot going on today did some more running around. That was about it thou.

Hope all had a good day

Calling for thunder storms around here tomorrow

Saturday Wife and I are going on a Caboose ride at local train museum its a 40 minute ride round trip so that's cool. Not bad at all if you ask me.

Good evening all, It has been 16 years since "my" soccer girls have had a winning record. Tonight's win clinched no worse than an 8-7-1 season with one to play. I had a game of my own, but there will be a moment next week to recognize what they accomplished. in my game, we played shorthanded and lost 5-2. I was all over the field and kept going for the full 50 minutes. Thank you all for the warm welcome back. Checked the blood sugar before the game and it was 120. Splurged a bit with a personal pan pizza from the Hut, but I thought it was merited. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all,

Had a scare this afternoon with oldest son.  He was at work and thought the was having a heart attack.  He was admitted to UCLA Medical Center emergency room and stayed there all afternoon.  All test were negative.  They thought he was probably dehydrated and exausted.  He has been working a lot of 12 hour days and has a killer drive every day.  Not surprising that he got the tilt sign.  Very grateful that he is OK.  They said he was OK to drive home.  I told him to take the rest of the week off at a minimum.

Got my car back this afternoon and all is well with that.  Picked up a new skimmer for the swimming pool on the way home.  Temp in the garage right now is 104.  Pool is probably 78.  Hot few days ahead and I thought summer was over.

later,

Ray

Hey!! Hi Mike!! Good to see you!! Awaiting my 6 car gondola set from my forum group. I believe its all B&A livery. Sent out my NYC MTH Switcher out as its buzzing....runs fine, sounds...eh. Whatta want for $25?....lol!!! Picked up my MTH Fire House. Kept it in the shipping box for now. Really want to get it up and running, just no room. Kicked the cold and it seems like its coming back....go figure. One of my mentors passed away last Friday, looks like a diabetes issue. A very young 74....so active and alive just a few days ago. Fife and Brent - If all goes to plan - will be in Walkersville, MD on the 11th. The Red Helmet Ride to Emmitsburg, MD for the Fallen Firefighters Weekend. As long as the weather holds up....'cuz I'll be on my Road Star. That's all from Central Jersey.....
