Dang - wondered where that thing go to!  Glad you found it RT, be sure to make SJ clean it up as he is the one who made that mess!

SJ - sounds like a great find my man, and what a great dinner!  Sounds like you guys are having a great time!

Finished online web-based live meeting training today for the quality job (I already have had for about a year and a half).  Next week I go to Nashville and I'll be there for 2 weeks working with the quality guys at that office.  Man - I really don't want to go on this trip, it's bad timing for me with all the stuff we are doing at work right now and to get some of my other stuff done.  Oh well - they get what they get if they send us off to training.  Gotta go check out that new Lionel catalog!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Home from the lake house.

No fishing.  Serviced mower and then had to mow and mow. The lake neighbor who had a bone marrow transplant over a year ago.  I mow and “tend” his yard as well as mine.  Friend up there fished for three days with his nephew [30’s].  They caught quite a few bass in the 2 to 3 lb. range.  They are beginning to catch big crappie.
Wifey off with some church ladies to Ridgecrest for a retreat.  Leave tomorrow AM and back Sunday.  I have a dangerous dog hearing tomorrow at 11:30.  I am on the Wake Co. Human Services Board and also the Board’s appeal committee.  Got an appeal by owner where 7 pit bulls attacked a man.  Thing is, seems he went inside their fenced back yard drunk.  Big sign says “beware of dog”.  Owner says history of guy badgering them through the fence.  Will listen to testimony tomorrow.  If all is like I have stated, I will rule against staff.

The front with the storms is due here tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Prayers for the Texas folks.  A lot of damage and hurt people there.

Saturday is our Recreation Day and Parade.  I have to ride at the front and do my "Boss Hog" wave.

Banks, you along with others would make the York trip a good one.  I have always wanted to meet you in person.  For me to go again, the Town will have to move the parade to another weekend.  Trip year before last, I left noon Friday.  No way!!!  Traffic out of DC south was horrible.  Took me twice as long to drive home as to go up.  I would only go if I stay and leave Saturday.

Chat later.

Hello all

Looks I'll be on my way to NM later this month. Will be working my week ons taking this new telescope apart for shipping to AZ. Should be interesting.

Got a plant for the yard at the house. We are having a competition w/ the guys next door.

Also got a new kickstand for the bicycle, made in USA. Go figure.

Corvair got another bath as well.

Continued Daewoo assembly tomorrow. Hopefully we are on the home stretch. We got the the water outlet and inlet gaskets. One looks like Illinois and the other like OhioTongue Tied

Konnichiwa,

Yesterday was a busy day here.  I was on the firing range all day for work as it was time for me to qualify with my M4 and M11.  I did not have any time to relax after work as the baseball team had its second practice last night.  I have identified three kids who are capable of pitching, but no one besides my son has volunteered to be the catcher.  My son will be able to do it but I would to have at least two kids playing that position.  My son is also one of the kids who will pitch so we need another catcher.  Unfortunately, out of 14 kids, I have about 6 whose arm strength limits them to only playing 2B.  I can’t hide the weaker kids in the OF at this level as many balls will now be hit there.  We only have two more practices before our first game next Saturday so I have much work to do with them.  The wife went to Tokyo for the night with two of her friends; they are celebrating a birthday for one of them.  I think the kids and I will survive the night on our own.

SJ – Thanks for checking in.   How do the updated sounds on your new WBB loco sound?

Ryan/Jeffrey – I don’t think it is a $64 million question, but it is certainly one of economics.  Lionel does not produce as many of its US-made Armed Forces cars as it does all its other foreign-made items.  If Lionel chose to produce significantly more or all its items here in the US, the cost of production would rise.  This would lead to a rise in the cost of labor and ultimately a rise in the price to consumer (retail price).  The prices for new items are high now (in my opinion), and Lionel probably calculates that its customers (market) will not pay more.  While many of us clamor for “Made in the USA” products, we’re not truly ready to pay made in the USA prices.  The simple fact is labor in the US costs more than labor in China and many other places.  I’m not going to get political or cause any ruckus as to why US labor costs are so much higher, but it’s just the way it is.

AF Ray – I’m glad you saw a winning game.  I guess DJ is out until after the All Star break. Sigh

Sayonara,

Joe

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 63 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Waiting 'til after rush hour to head north.  "General" funds in my pocket.  It will be nice to see the gang at 1300.

Wild night in Boston.  Officer dead.  Bombing suspect dead, other on the run.  Apparently Chechnya ties (think 3 Days in September).  I can't believe they went on with memorial service with these two on the loose....Sigh

Stay vigilant.

Good morning. It's 41° with a wind chill of 36°. Humidity is 83%. Wind NNW 15mph gusting to 28mph. The high will be 65°.

Sunny today but cooler. I'm going to see if I can get some of the mess on the layout cleaned up before I get interrupted for some reason or other. Four of the FP7's are getting a good run this morning. L&A 626, RI 405, L&A 1514B and L&A 1523C. Quite a mix of motors there. Whatever brand Roco used in the 70's, Mashima, Athearn and PPW.

FIFE and all........We have four or 5 towns North of Boston on lockdown along with the transit system and taxi service as authorities continue to search for the second bombing suspect. Residents told to stay in their homes.  Businesses asked to remain closed. 1,000,000+ folks on hold.

Suspects: two Russian brothers (not citizens) living in Cambridge and/or Watertown, 26 and 19 years old, not currently students but the younger one had been in high school in Cambridge (wrestler and 2011 scholarship winner), both been here possibly as long as 10 years (at least since 2001).  Parents still live in Russia.  An uncle lives here too (in Md), he is stunned, ashamed, and clueless but was not particularly close with them.  Why the brothers remained here here, unknown.  "Friends" describe them as nice guys, nothing suspicious about them, even up to the day of the bombings.

After the pictures of the two suspects were plastered all over the media yesterday afternoon around 5:30pm, things started happening.  About 10:30PM last night an M.I.T. police officer in Cambridge spotted and confronted the two and was killed.  Possibly interrupted by the MIT police officer planting another bomb?

An hour later the suspects carjacked a car (with owner), released that person 30 minutes later.  News reports said they then were spotted and chased by law enforcement, using explosives while being chased.  Later were located overnight nearby in Watertown just North of Boston where another huge gun battle ensued.  A 33 year old MBTA transit officer was wounded in the Watertown firefight and is in surgery.

One suspect dead from the firefight (older one, 26 y.o.) but the other younger brother got away.

MASSIVE manhunt underway.  It's like a war zone here.  My prayers today not only go out for the victims of the Marathon blasts but also for the police officers who have put themselves in harms way and have paid a horrible price, one the ultimate price.

Jack

UPDATE 8:50AM:  remaining suspect may be holed up in Watertown house, surrounded.  Massive law enforcement presence.  2.5 mile perimeter set up.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Good morning all,

It is chilly in SE Indiana.  Glee was awful last night.  May be last season I watch it.  Quiet day at work finally.  Did see a GP40 in MTH catalog with markings that look like engine that runs thru hometown (Indiana and Ohio).  Pretty cool.  Pretty expensive and no cars with road name to go with it.  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Boston and surrounding area.  Unbelievable.  Would happen under Jack's watch. Wink  Think LE is doing a great job shutting everything down and making folks stay inside.  Protects those who might get caught in a shoot out, explosion or kidnapped as a hostage.

Off to town to do my dangerous dog(s) hearing.  Cloudy and real warm.  Storms tonight.

Later.

Thanks Jack. Sandra and I know first hand what being flooded is about. All you can do is watch it come up and wait for it to go down.

Yeah what is going on here in Marseilles is an act of God. Texas, most likely corporate greed with lack of safety enforcement.

And Metro Boston   Nut cases,,,again.  Tongue Tied

Finally got a minute of free time. I have the genset running that I was fixing for a friend. Funny they just won't run on water. Laugh I also order the parts I needed to finish up Chainsaw #2 and going to scrap out Chainsaw #3. The Wife wants to go to town and get some pork-chops and see the flood damage so we will be doing that this afternoon. I have been told our old house in Plainfield is sitting in the Dupage river,,,,,,,,again. Boy I don't miss that. Smile

Well I had better catch up on the posts here so I will check in later.

TV is nuts with the Boston bomber chase. I hope they get him.

Good afternoon everybody! tgif

Prayers for Boston,Texas,and Illinois

I got sent out early this morning on a down microwave link. I got it back up and running. When i was leaving the site I noticed the wind kicked up to 40mph gust and the temp dropped about 5*. I also noticed the guy wires shaking from the wind and decided it would be best for me to get my behind out of there.

The boss gave me the ok to leave early today Yeah so I can get home and rest up to be back on later!

Flooding all over my area. They have 11 roads shut down at this time for water across the roads.

Good afternoon.

Man. Three events in a matter of days. A bombing in Boston, explosion at a plant in Texas, and a dam break on the Il. River. Wow are we unlucky right now............prayers for those that need them. Angel

Anyway, some good news on my end. Really good news. Got called down to the office at school today, with 9 other kids, all of them were ones that wouldn't get into trouble (ususally anyway). Turns out, we are in the Top 10 of our 139 kid class! Was really happy to hear that.

Ryan You bet I am. Wink Someday I hope to meet the guys face to face. Tongue Tied A bit of a drive from North Central ILL. Surprise

Jake the dam did not break but the barges that hit it stopped the water from flowing over it and cause the back up of water into town. What a mess Marseilles is today. Most of the south side of town is under water and the town is locked down to all traffic. BTW, Congrats on the top ten. Yes  I was one of those kids that would,,,,,,,,,, get into trouble. Mischief Smile, Wink & Grin

You all have a good night.

P.S.  Here is a picture our daughter took of our old place in Plainfield. Bad but about 4' shy of the flood of 1996. In 1996 that lot line fence was under water. Sure am glad we are not there anymore. I am tooooo old for that stuff. I did love living on the river in Plainfield IL. Most of the time. Surprise

Kev, I forgot .... about your HAZ-MAT cabinet

Thats too bad its not gonna work.   That would have been cool to have that in the den full of guns.......

On a serious note, you should see what the second hand market is like on them.   You may be able to sell it and buy a gun cabinet.  And take it from me, pay the 50.00 to where ever you buy the gun safe from to have them deliver it and put it where you want it.  Then all you have to do is stand there and drink a cold one and point.........

Or just keep it and use it in our workshop for paints and stuff..... or maybe an auxillery ammo cabinet?  LOL

AF RAY, I missed ya leaving breakfast this AM, did you get in touch with Tyke at the show?

gotta run

The day started early with breakfast at 7 am. John, John Jr, Ray, Laz, jefelectric & wife, Roy and Ryan.  1pm we met for pictures.  The entire breakfast crew plus Brent, Fife, Banks & wife also joined us.  Brent took our photo.  After that we had a tailgate gathering at John's vehicle for some ice cream.  Homemade NJ Ice cream, YUM!   Lemon was fantastic!!

Capped off the day with a filling diner at a local diner with my Michigan crew, John, John Jr and Ray.

Has been a great York.  From all my friends here on the forum to Norm Charbonneau, Todd Wagner a former Lionel employee and others I have not mentioned, spending time wandering the halls and chatting has been fun.

It was a deliteful no grits day. Besides Lemon, John also brought Banilla and several other flavors that were vere good...Joe I can't run the new GP30 until we get home but I have heard them and they sound good for an engine that sells for about $200....S.J.

Just your opinion KEV.  Sorry I totally disagree with you.  The answer is WHY.

WHY did he do it/

What made him do it?

Who brainwashed him and his brother?

Lots o questions and with a dead lifeless body NO answers.

Food for thought.

One dumb kid stops the world???????????????

Just your opinion KEV.  Sorry I totally disagree with you.  The answer is WHY.

WHY did he do it/

What made him do it?

Who brainwashed him and his brother?

Lots o questions and with a dead lifeless body NO answers.

Food for thought.
