KEV.........some more light reading on GM's LY7 V6 engine:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-srx-first-generation-forum-2004/129007-oil-consumption-6.html

Might be best (time saving) if you start on the last page and the more recent posts and work your way back toward the start.

LV - I was thinking perhaps you were planning to shot a video about your trains and/or the hobby.  It sounds like although it is going to be an introduction piece, your trains may at least get a mention.  I have shot a few short videos, some not short enough Zzz, and have found it is not as easy as it looks to make a good video.  It's cool that you get to work at making a video as part of your school work.  I'm sure you'll do a great job.  Thumbs Up Have fun with it.

Actually, since we are basically making a video that introduces ourselves, and I'm going heavy on the interests, the trains will be a part of at least HALF of the video. The other half will be where I live, family, school, etc. And actually, though railroading dominates my field of interests, I have a thing for WW2 fighters and bombers, and a thing for astronomy.

Had a stomach cramp earlier today, around 9:15ish. Continued until 1. Slight headach now.

Supposed to get FLOODED with rain soon apparently. Hope it isn't a repeat of Lee or Sandy.

Jack if my wife saw Jimmy's layout her first comment would be look at all those loose wires is it safe? then you could see like 2 big transformers and she would go I bet when he runs them all the electric meter is going like a fan lol

RT.......my wife's theory is that safety around the home is MW, men's work.  She wouldn't give all of those wires and transformers and ozone smells a second thought.  The spectre of what JimmyT's trains might cost would immediately flip her brain into a financial defensive mode, with her wondering if her shoe and handbag budget might be in jeopardy......as if she was budget-minded about such matters. Bang Head

So I wacked JimmyT's email address from our email address file, put a new passcode on my POT access, and did likewise on my cell phone.  I can't have her calling him up and telling him to knock it off with the train videos already.  Jimmy, if your caller ID shows an incoming with a 978 area code, don't answer it!!!!  Laugh

evening guys, just finished up making taco's for dinner, and sadly, they were better than my steak last night.

I left an empty flat rate box out in the truck, but its pouring rain.  and of course its cooling off, and I didnt bring any fire wood in, so I may be suiting up to head out into the rain.

maybe run some trains to un stress the day and pack some un needed  track related goodies up to assist a fourmite.........

meetings all day tomorrow and on Friday I'll be a movie star.  still gotta get the hair cut. local barber closed early today with the flue. If he's not back in tomorrow I'll have to have the wife do it with the dog clippers.  I did buy a new flannel shirt and new boots for the filming.

worked on drawing the blue prints for my new super garage and workshop and train room today.  since its too crappy out to build, at least I'll get the permit process outa the way

Afternoon/Evenin All.

The BetterHalf had a henparty/scrabble game this morning so I fixed Biscuits and Sausage Gravy for them as the usual munchies were nixed due to some "food allergies".

Ryan, Sounds as though you got caught by "Murphy's Law", apologies to Doug.

Made a quick trip to the museum this morning, ten minutes latter on my way home. At least it was a nice day for a drive, translation: with time of day vast majority of idiots were off the freeway. Whistling

SJ, I no longer accompany the BetterHalf to the casinos, I find it extremely boring to sit in front of a slot machine and I'm to Thrifty for the table games.

Looking long term the BetterHalf and I are discussing a refi on the house. With the change in rates, ie: payment, it would make it easier should something happen to either one of us in the future (short or distant).

Some really bad weather heading for you Easties, keep your head down and emergency alert radios on. Angel

Later !

Ryan, Thanks,  the rain is a good thing here. I can't wait to see the movie star, you will need to post the link. It will be cool. I got more than my share in 1990 After the Plainfield IL. Tornado, way past the 15 min limit. That was then. I still hate the sound of Helicopters.

Evening all.  Real warm.  Mid 70's today.  Still warm and very windy.  Blowing hard.  Under tornado watch.  Should be gone by midnight.  No rain but they say its coming and hard.

Box has new Trane heat pump.  Twice as big as the old one.  Old one was some off brand thing.  This one is really nice.  New higher efficency.  That means lower power bill.  A Trane for the Train Box. Wink

Ohayō,

I’m about to start my lunch break so I figured now was a good time to post.  Once again, it’s warmer than I’d like it to be today.  I took the day off from any exercise and slept in a little longer this morning.  The workday is progressing nicely and nothing major has occurred.

As for steak: if it’s cooked properly it shouldn’t need any accoutrements or condiments. My 2 Cents

Buckeye – Be careful on the raid.

BOC – I’ll be praying for you.

Jack – Since I can’t be there to enjoy the drinks, I’ll take something with flanged wheels.  Seriously, you know the bank will charge you interest if you spend their money.

Sayonara,

Joe

Gump and others, I consider the casinos my entertainment. Some go to movies, some to hockey games, baseball, football, ect, they probably spend more than we do for the same kind of outing. If we break even or win, our entertainment was free. It's just our day out....S.J.

Looks like tomorrows weather will be better than today's was. Warm and sunny with much less wind. At times today it looked like the wind topped 40 mph. Glad I had nowhere to go. That big van of mine would've been pushed around quite a bit. Can you imagine driving against a 40 mph headwind? The gas mileage would suck! Tomorrow if it looks good I'll be making a trip to the bank to make a deposit. I would usually do something like that on the 1st but I'm going to be pretty busy on the 1st this time around. There's my mothers memorial service. Viewing 9-10am at the funeral home followed by the service at the Veteran's cemetery. Afraid I wouldn't be in much of a mood for business that day. Oh well, we all have our own lives to live. Guess I better get on with what there is of mine and stop wasting everyone's time with this.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Cloudy with dropping temperatures all day.  Started out just above freezing and was in the mid 20's when I left work for home.  Had to break the ice seal on my driver's door to go home.

Jeffrey - A friend of mine was driving east in Michigan's upper pinnesula during the storm that sank the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.  He was driving a '72 GMC Blazer doing about 70 running with the wind.  Said it felt like he was only doing about 20 when he rolled the window down and stuck his arm out the window.  Said he got great gas mileage on that trip, too.  Wind is interesting to drive in.

All for now.

It's bitter cold out tonight.  Worked on tree armatures and a couple of  crossbucks some more today.

Hope it works out for your wife's sister AF53.  I know this must be a difficult time for the wife and family.

Kev, hope you start feeling better soon.  You've got a railroad to build! Wink

Jeffrey, know your going through a hard time.  No one can take the place of one's Mother and her passing is a great loss.  My prayers are with you.

Joe, I'm sure you are right about cooking the steaks, I just like ketchup!

Hello all

Back at work for another week w/ it's list of attending problems. Seems the telescope missed me. The plumbing problem that we fix before I left decided to act up again in a new way within hours of me arrivingBang Head

LV - congrats on the birthday and your Eagle! I went before my board of review just hours before I turned 18. Talk about about bringing it down to the line. Needless to say, I did not have time to earn any palms.

'And actually, though railroading dominates my field of interests, I have a thing for WW2 fighters and bombers, and a thing for astronomy.' Indifferent Please, say it isn't so....Stick out tongue

Jon - glad you had a good time in AZ. But before you think all of the state has weather like Phoenix, keep in mind this picture was taken in AZ too:

Kev - layout is looking good! How about this for your new bridge:

The Goat Canyon Trestle. 700' long and 300' high. Only way to to it is by train. Or a rather arduous 12 mile hike. DougDG can prob give you the model dimensions.

Have the new 0-8-0 to play w/ now. Will also continue w/ various electronics and transformer projects.

Speaking of which, $800 for a transformer!?Surprise Impressive, yes, but are they kidding? I got my postwar ZW for less than $100. I could buy another and gauges and breakers for both and still make my rent payment for that. But I guess if you have a $2500 Legacy engine and you need something run it with....

Worked on a 2000 Daewoo yesterday. Blown head gasket and helping out a friend. Trying to see if it is repairable. If the head is warped it's prob done. All things considered, not too bad to work on. We just need to chase down an external torx bit so we can pull the front cam to get to the head bolts.

Good morning.

Just as I expected, we got hammered with rain last night. Though river levels weren't much to write about, I can't help but feel somewhat concerned about river levels when it rains a lot. Quiet this morning, like a swamp around here.

Good morning. It's 31°F with 100% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 62°F.

Much better weather today and no wind warnings. I'll be making a trip to the bank today after it warms up a bit. This weekend I'll be looking around on Ebay for some items. See if I can find some cheap locos and cars to strip for parts and find a couple of good items as well.

Other plans for this weekend: Since the family is all here we'll be having a family barbeque before they head back up north. Among those are my younger sister and her husband (#3), my other niece and her son. He's five years old and this is the first time I've seen him. A train nut if ever there was one! I showed him my run-by videos and a photo slideshow from one of my Photobucket accounts. That kept him out of trouble for the better part of an hour. He may get an opportunity to see the layout in person but he'll have to remember, hands off.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cold 35 degrees. Going up to 38 today with some snow flurries. No wonder people are sick. Weather is nuts.

Today is a busy day. Wife is running errands and I am doing chores. Busy until lunch, and then a nap.

Chief... That's a good heat pump.  We have a 3 ton, and it is good down to about 25 degrees. Then, the furnace kicks in.

I see we now have "pop ups" on the Forum screen.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.
