Good morning. It's 68° and partly cloudy. The high will be 78°.Went to my parents place this morning. Got some laundry (mine) done and got my mother her breakfast. A little cereal (Kashi and Cheerios), three strawberries each cut in six pieces, five green grapes and five red grapes, each cut into thirds, half a small glass of milk. Only thing I've had this morning is a small handful of peanuts. That's going to change soon as it's coming up on lunchtime. Don't know what I'll have yet but it'll be much more substantial than peanuts. No particular layout plans today. If I get around to digging the things I need out of the closet, if I'm not hurting too bad, I'll possibly dress up the abandoned siding a bit. It looks fair with old steamer and the rust bucket baggage car but it needs some weeds, bits of junk and whatever else I can find to go there. I can only stand for about ten minutes at a time so it'll likely take a while to do. I'll be going back to my parents house this afternoon when the home health nurse comes around.

Partly cloudy and cool at 47 degrees now. No rain again and no real sure rain in the week to come. Day two of re-retirement. I put down 10 bags of Lime around the house yesterday to help the grass whenever we do get rain. The yard is transforming from grass to some sort of weed I have never seen from lack of rain. Good thing is they are green. Cheerios ready to eat. Fife, I got your PM. Next time I go to Menard’s I will pick up the supplies. Joe, good luck with the difficult kids’ parents. If the kids are difficult, the parents are too most of the time. RT, you will find now that you have some track down the trains will be in the shop for repairs a lot more than when they just sit. Brutus, How long will your wall be?? SJ, Glad you got your tooth Cleaned up. Now you will fit right in at Roseyville. Well you all have a good day, Kev

Aloha! Sunny and cold here. All day meeting at our other campus begins in an hour so I'll get to ride the L to get up there. Nice last-minute visit late last night with my young cousin who's a youth pastor near Cincinnati - he was here for a conference. Joe, those are nice typing resources - most useful class I ever took!

Joe the crab cake was actually better than tuna but you can't beat a good BLT with REAL tomatoes. I have a few errands to run then the goofing off begins for the afternoon. Nice chat last night with a great bunch of guys...S.J.

Konbanwa,
Wow, today sure flew by and we were busy. I had a few minutes for a quick Tardis ride this afternoon and was able to enjoy a brief chat with John, SJ, Charlie, Brutus, and RT. We were on the verge of something big but then all the stateside folks got tired and needed to go to bed. I made the kids Sloppy Joes for dinner tonight; it wasn’t as good as when my wife makes it but the kids still ate it up. The baseball practice did not go so well tonight. I have about four kids who do not want to pay attention to what’s going out there. I pulled the whole team in for a quick meeting and laid it out for them. I told them to go home after practice and really talk it over with their parents as to whether or not they want to keep playing. The other six kids want to improve and some of the first timers are coming along very nicely. I also sent the parents a detailed email stating once again what I expected from the kids at practice. I’m hoping a couple of the difficult kids’ parents call me as I will let them know I have no problem sending a kid off the field for a while. The kids are now asleep and I need to finish some schoolwork. The wife will be home tomorrow evening. Unfortunately there is only one hobby shop on Oahu (overpriced and not much in stock) so I know she’s not bringing me anything from the trip.
RT – Will it be compatible with regular conventional trains? I will want to run with the other items we have.
SJ – Crab cake sandwiches are delicious. How did it compare to the BLT?
Fife – Where are you obtaining all the information about the new NS Heritage locomotives? I would like to see some photos of that Lehigh Valley model.
Where’s Jack been? I need to send him something.
Sayonara,
Joe
Morning all,
Big drama here with son and trying to get him outta HS - senioritis is hitting hard
Another nice morning but headed to 84 today - boooooooo - we have had one of the nicest Spring season's here in 15 years and we were enjoying it to the hilt. Supposed to hit 89 by Friday and then 70's on Sunday.
Hope to set the fence posts tonight.
LAZ Camp starts in 29 days!
Busy day today - hope everyone has a great day today!

It is a cold and sunny 38 degrees. Going up to 60 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch ofchores to do and a project to finish. Ball game tonite. I need to go down to the train room and do some dusting. Run trains too.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 45 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.
About the prices at YORK. It did seem like the prices on some of the older stuff were up a little, yet the prices on brand new rolling stock appeared to be down. All I do know is that Woodland Scenics people are pretty dang expensive everywhere you look. What's up with that...union wages...?
SPMan - 844? Wasn't me.
KRM - See, if I had known last week you wanted one of those bobbing-horse cars, we'd be wheelin' & dealin' right now...
Chief -
Hi GUYZ,
NO SNO HI O here. But about 100 miles west they gotta bunch.
28 dayz to gooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Howdy guys - well we got an estimate for the retaining wall and it's right about what I thought it would be. We'll get a written estimate plus references to check this guy out. We might get another estimate or two from other companies as well. We shall see - it is a lot of money, more than I have paid for a car years ago. Other than that, today was just blah. Something I ate on the way home Saturday really gave me some problems yesterday and last night, but I'm hoping that is all behind me now Caught up on all my shows on the DVR and just took it easy, but did wash the laundry and put it through the dryer.
RT - glad to hear you got your engine fixed.
Roy - digging post holes is a real test of patience and endurance. I've used a digger like that and also an auger with 3 other guys when we did a deck - it was pretty tough.
TARDIS is ready - wish those TARDIS t-shirts would have shown up better. Uh, I mean Police Call Box shirts! Oh well, my Detroit 3-Railers shirt is very nice and I got the Smokey Bones sauce out
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening all!
Another beaut' of a day here today. Cool breezes.
Ray - no wetting of the ground. It is saturated from all the rain this year. It is good to know it has penetrated a couple of feet down. Good indicator of soaking rains. But once the rain stops it turns from goop to concrete here also.
Had hoped to get home early enough to set my fence posts but work continues to interfere. Maybe tomorrow.
Perused the new Lionel catalog on-line. Got the sets and S gauge catalogs in the mail.
Have a great evening all!
Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
One thing I forgot, well within the last week. Brutus bought me a Sally's crab cake sandwich. My first one ever. We both agreed, it was very good. Thanks Brutus.
Joe someone said the remote control Thomas wouldn't have a neutral just forward and reverse i hope it can sit still like other engines with power to it.
evening all had a short in the one PA-1 but think I found it there were bare spots in a speaker wire and guess it was hitting the frame and the front pick-up was loose well the wire from the front pick-u was melted well replaced that and cut out the bare area to speaker and all seems fine but will keep an eye on it. ran fine tonight so guess thats was it. At least hope it was
Well DR. visit was fine today now have the stress test tomorrow. then back to work on Wednesday I was just getting use to being off
Put up another shelf below the train layout on one wall and put my NYC GP-9's ( seeing they all now have dynamic brakes
Well guess just relax now and see who shows u later for the tardis.
54 with sun all day, 50s all week, Baa Hum Bug.
Nothing new today, just my tooth thing this morning, I wondered who would notice it. So maybe some banilla later and a chat with the guys will finish my day..S.J.
Today I built an Athearn/Frankenstein SD40-2 just for the heck of it. I'm not making it to run, just to keep my hand in on kit-bashing locos from junk parts. This one consists of: Athearn SD40-2 frame, Athearn SD40-2 trucks, motor for a Proto 2000 FA-2, a couple of gears from a Proto BL2, shafts made from pieces from from a Proto 2000 FA-2 and Proto 2000 E unit, a bit of super glue and some ingenuity.
OhayĆ,
The sun is shining again and today’s high is right around 80. The kids and I have a busy day ahead of us: school, swimming lessons, and baseball practice for the older son. We should have some chores mixed in there as well. We will give the house a good scrubbing today and tomorrow before the wife returns from Hawaii.
Doug – The remote controlled Thomas has my interest as well. I was on the hunt for one but I suppose I will hold off until more information is released about this model. The information I have from Lionel states they will have this item in this year’s Christmas catalog.
Kev – I hope you get some rain soon. I’m sorry about your recent eBay issue – eBay will make it right for you if you file a report. eBay has been very good for me since I have not lived in areas with many (or sometimes any) train shops or train shows.
Traindood – Yes, shoes Sox are ridiculous.

Chief, Once I get that hair cut, both will be good for another thousand miles.
sir james I 50 and sunny now. Just home from getting my tooth cleaned, don't have to go back for any old fillings. That's always good news. I just rested yesterday even though the drive home is not all that bad, a day of rest is good...S.J.

All I did was bold and underline. Goes with his ONE hair he gets cut.
Good morning all,
been enjoying looking at the group picture of the Pot members at York Couldn't figure out what Fife was doing at first. Thought his pants fell down or something until someone explained it was the can can. I need to get the name of your tailor from some of the guys in the shot. I think I would fit right in if I were there. Good to see you all and glad you had a good time. Sorry you didn't get any grits but just had to rough it without the Chief.
I'm still proceeding with caution with food since my upset last week. I'm beginning to think it might have been some form of food poisoning though not that severe. We went out for wife's birthday dinner last night and I did OK with food but only ate very simple things with no surprises. Her actual birthday is Wednesday the 25th. We plan on doing something on that day too. Yesterday was to accomodate our kids who would not be around on Wednesday.
Found some videos on the other forum about presentations at the Toy Train Museum in Strasburg, Pa. from the train vendors about new products. MTH was not too exciting. They mentioned something about farming out repairs to others in the future for out of warranty stuff in order to expedite turn around time. WBB sounded interesting with an improved version of Tru Blast sounds. Now they are going digital with more sounds of engine and real recordings of horns, bells, etc. They showed an ACL GP30 in the late color (black and yellow) in their new products. Might get that one if the price is right. Their new engines have much better detail on hand rails and things than their older line. Glad to see they are doing new things. Lionel presentation had lots of stuff to look at as well.
Saw some reference on here that Fife was supposed to have given about the U.P. 844 flat wheel problem as to causes etc. but I could not find it on the Pot. From what I have been able to piece together, it is my belief that the U.P. diesel behind the 844 must have had a delay feature for reducing the power to idle when the train goes into emergency brake application. This feature was added on some engines to prevent run ins if the engine went into emergency braking. Normally, when you plug a train (go into emergency), all the brakes on the train set up including the engine and something called a power control switch (PCS) reduces the engine power to idle. Apparently, this did not happen with the diesel behind the #844 and so the steam engine with it's brakes already applied was pushed from behind and slid it's driving wheels causing the flat spots they have now. Maybe this was what Fifey was thinking of?
Chief, you're still looking cool driving your rubber tired train. You need to find a shot showing the entire engine and not just the cab. I think you are making D.Baker jealous.
V8 Dennis, we are getting that drizzle/light rain that came through your neck of the woods right now. Might help the grass a little. Roy, I will have to reread your post about digging the holes. Sounds like you are wetting the ground to be able to dig it. Is that right? I know I inherited a set of post hole diggers from my deceased neighbor and tried to dig with it. The ground here is like concrete. I would have to wet the ground too. We have adobe soil. Only good for making bricks, not growing anything except weeds. They seem to grow anywhere.
Ran some trains yesterday with no mishaps. Set up the record/playback feature on my Daylight train and just watched it run automatically. Whistle blowing for every crossing gets kind of tiresome after a while though even if it is prototypically correct. Real crossing or further apart.

Glad to see all the guys made it back safe from york ... I will try to catch them tonight on chat ...
HUDSON685,
JOHN, you got a pretty good son there. As I told him, he's the type of student that a shop teacher loves to have around. He can do so much with his knowledge and work ethic, that makes my job so much easier. I had quite a few kids like him and everyone went on to be great people. It was a pleasure meeting both of you. Hope to see YUZ GUYZ down at YORK again.
Lunchtime,
Still can not post on the home computer. My son and I did what we could yesterday. I need to get my son in law over to look at it.
My son and I really enjoyed York. I scored a pristine 646 Hudson for the right price from a nice gent from the Detroit area. I also grabed a new Williams NW2 from Trainworld for $90. My son aquired some Marx pieces and some nice diecast construction equipment to add to his collection.
It was great meeting everyone and I can not wait until October.
SJ: The Lemon Ice Cream is made and in the shock box hardening. hopefully I will have some tonight when I get home from school. I will let you know how the first batch came out. We will definitely get some to you.
LAZ: My son can not wait to tell his old shop teacher how many kids you have. they still keep in touch, besides my daughter teaches in the same school.
Fife: My son said that you were absolutely right on the advice you gave him. He is pursuing a degree in Homeland Security and Business.
Traindood: Working on getting Ray there.
Time to get back to work!
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Have a Great Day,
John
