Stourbridge Lion

Being a fan of "Dark Shadows" with Jonathan Frid as Barnabas it saddens me to report his passing; age 87.  Here shortly Johnny Depp's version will be coming out and Jonathan Frid and others from the original version do have a short appearances in it.

RIP Wilted Flower

this guy ( can't say what I would like to) willing to jeopardize a bus load of children

End of rant sorry just had to say it and share it.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Another Crystal Clear Morning in Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Thank you guys for all of your prayers for the Greenland NH Police Chief who was laid to rest yesterday.  One of the folks with whom we (dog) train, Sgt. Dawn Sawyer, is the second in command at the Greenland PD.  She had to bow out of dog training last night due to her duties.  Her day must have been gruelling, physically and emotionally. Later last night the wifey and I saw her doing an interview on the 11PM local news.

Last night at the canine training, the center's owners and trainers tossed out the idea of holding a fund raiser/canine obedience demo/canine protection demo/BBQ combo to raise money for the fallen Chief's family. They asked us if Maximus could be part of the demos. We're honored just to be considered, of course.  If they decide to move forward with this fundraiser, it will take lots of planning and work.  No problema.  The fundraiser is the least we could do for Chief Maloney.

KEV.........your Mom-In-Law and your family have my prayers that your Mom is resting comfortably today, at least as much as she can under the circumstances. Angel

Later, gang

Jack

Good morning. It's 66° and partly cloudy. The high will be 78°. There's a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon. Becoming mostly cloudy later with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight.

Nothing going on today, yet. I may work on the layout later. I'm getting ideas about taking up the Shell service center and putting something else there. I just don't know what yet.

Good morning all,

It will be rainy in SE Indiana today.  Just a quick note as I will be in class all day today as I was yesterday.  PT Cruiser is fixed, just a couple of gaskets.  Been doing yard work at nights.  Going to roller derby tonight and see Donald Davidson talk tomorrow night.  TBIL and I am driving again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Some how I burnt out 2 K-Line protectors the first I kinda understand as train car jumped track and arch electric sparks so it did its job second one thou just went out on its own. in fact train was running fine I stopped it went thru shut down procedures unplug the transformer went back a little while later nothing it was blown. So temporary I just have a regular lock on I need to get some protection up there.

Granddaughter is having a minor surgery today. She is getting drain tubes put in her ears so she won’t have so many ear infections. I hope it goes well.

I hope they work out for her. My younger sister had tubes in her ears for many years due to a birth defect that caused the ear canals to be so narrow she could hardly hear.

Angel Please say a prayer tonight for for Police Chief Mike Maloney of the Greenland NH police department, and for his family, his friends, his fellow officers, and for his entire community that will be poorer now that he is gone.  He leaves behind his wife, two children, and his grandchildren.  He was scheduled to retire this week.  He didn't mail it in his last week on the job, though he could have.

Chief Mike was laid to rest today.  He gave his life protecting his four fellow wounded officers during a shootout while they were serving a drug warrant.  The dirtbag who shot him and the other officers (who survived their gunshot wounds) had set up surveillance cameras all over his place, saw the police coming, and literally laid in wait for them, an ambush.  The officers didn't stand a chance.  The coward that the shooter was, he then murdered his girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself.  Prior arrest record, a previous violent offender and drug dealer with a gun possesion conviction, and with two more upcoming cases pending in court.  The revolving door of our criminal justice system has failed us miserably yet again.

SPMan

Jack........hope Maximus doesn't have to ride on the roof on your upcoming trip.Whistling

Not a chance.  If we needed more space inside the car, the wife would make sure the dog was safe, sound, and comfortable inside the cabin and would rather strap me to the roof carrier.  The same mentality would be true for protection........she'd send me out first to protect rather than her precious dog. Laugh

Dougda, glad the cataract surgery went well.

It did?  Glad to hear it.  I must have missed your post, Doug.

V8 Dennis, I haven't always been a good conversation starter either but I'm getting better.  I used to say hello and if you didn't say something, the conversation was over.

Many people are much more shy and uncomfortable in social settings than we are, much more than we may realize, until they get a few frosties under their belt. Beer

Finally christened my gas bar-b-que last night that I bought last Fall.  Cooked a couple of steaks that were good but were overcooked after following instructions in gas cook book.  Better to  use my own judgement I think.

You bet!!!  My new one (last spring) also cooks everything faster than the instruction manual indicates would be the required time frame and temperature.  I don't use no stinking meat thermometers either, though I have a pretty nice one with digital readout and a remote control that gives me the internal meat temp no matter where I am goofing off while cooking.

........BBQ would not light with ignitor so had to use a match.  Changed battery in ignitor and now I can hear it ticking.  Will try it again next time.

I think they engineer all  igniters such that over the course of the lifetime of the grill you will spend more money on replacement igniters than you initially did on the whole grill.

Whole BBQ thing required too much clean up.  Probably won't use it much unless I have a lot of stuff to grill.  Be better off using oven in house.

The oven in the house is the one you have to clean with overkill, not the outdoor gas grill.  The wife doesn't check my gas grill for pristine cleanliness. Smile, Wink & Grin  "Hey Jack, the gas grill is smoking up a storm!!"    "No worries, Pam, it is just the fat from the meat dripping down onto the thinga-ma-jig." Whistling

Have a good day,

Ray

Later, gang.

On a train note got two more Miller High Life cars today. One new MTH Miller tanker super nice  Thumbs Up and new and a Lionel boxcar that is anything but the excellent condition it was listed as on Flea-bay. Thumbs Down Will have to see what we can do on that one. I don’t think it is worth the price of shipping it back. Super Angry

Jack, thanks for the kind words re visiting the sick.  He is my best and oldest friend but I could do no less for others I know.  Hope Maximus doesn't have to ride on the roof on your upcoming trip.Whistling

Dougda, glad the cataract surgery went well.

Bon Voyage to the Yorkies.

Roy, sorry you can't make it but you're excused.  The rest of you East Coasters who can't go better have a good excuse.  I'm afraid my York days are over due to health issues and distance.

Steam engine ex ATSF 3751 will run this weekend between L.A. San Bernardino over Metrolink line.  Got invite to watch it with friend and his wife but will pass this time.  Should be plenty of photos on internet anyway.

Too bad U.P. steam engine #844 got flat wheels in Texas and had to cancel 150th U.P. anniversary tour.  Engine is limping back to Cheyene Wyoming last I heard at restricted speed.

Have a good day,

Good Mornin' Again Ya'll,

Wifey wants to take a long road trip to Canada this Summer with Maximus the dog to hook up with a large group of "dog" friends who will be camping up there and to see if we can get another obedience title on Maximus.  I think we also may have another long road trip earlier than that ........to help out the in-laws back in Illinois.  While I am not thrilled with the fuel mileage and costs on our CUV, the extra vehicle room and the freedom that interior room/configuration provides for trips such as these is well worth it in the exchange.  My passport is expired (Canada), so I have to get that renewed.  I looked at the my picture in the expired one from 1997......plastic surgery, a hair dye, and some liposuction would not nearly be enough. WhistlingBang Head

KEV.........personally, I think those ear tube procedures for the kiddies prone to ear infections are very smart, and from our experience they sure do work!!!!  Prayers your little granddaughter is back in action shortly, pain free.

Fife.........are you absolutely sure your oldest princess has a return plane ticket?  Whistling  Re LAZ' many talents as an educator, don't forget layout benchwork and shelving construction, deck construction, as well as house re-siding and painting, landscaping, and poo patrol.  Wish my son had some of these talents......or if he does have them, they are closely guarded secrets.  Stick out tongue  LAZ is a handy guy with a saw and a ladder, unlike Brent.  Whistling  I think Mrs. LAZ will keep him around for a while. Big Smile

Brent.........separation anxiety with Christina?  She misses you?  Susan has separation anxiety too when you leave the house because while you are gone her honey do list grows.  You are outnumbered in your household, two females to one male.  Not good.  Whistling

Jeff..........that updated news on your Mom's return home was very uplifting.Thumbs Up  Can a shopping trip with Jeff the limo driver and baggage handler be far off? Smile  Hope so. Smile, Wink & Grin

Dennis, JoeyD, and DougM.........does Trainspeak count as a second language? Whistling

More later gang.
