I know, I know. What was I thinking? Tongue Tied He'll probably take these to the monthly DuPage Train show. I don't think he was too enthused about eBay.

Kevin, some folks say there are entire sections of Chicago that are junkyards...

Doug: Yeah What were you thinking???   Question

Agree on what some folks say about parts of Chicago.  Smile, Wink & Grin

We are back from BounceTown and my head is still spinning,  Ick!   from watching all of the kids going nuts in those air filled jump things, A lot of fun and they all had a blast!  Clown

Roy: I am using the epoxy per Jeff, only I am using 2 ton slow dry 2 part epoxy and filing it down and doing a second coat, then paint on top. Think it will be fine and not need too much weight to correct it. What do I have to lose???

You all have a good night!

Afternoon all!

Cloudy, about 70, and might rain this afternoon. More light rain predicted next couple of days. No drought busting here.

Kev - Jeffrey already said use epoxy and I would agree with that. the other alternative is to put a tube into the tire. That worked for me a few years back. Not much to lose either way.

Dennis - congrats on the successful home visit!

Chief - thanks for letting us know Ray made it OK.

Ray - hope your visit to your sister goes as well as it can.

Jeffrey - the cars look good.

LAZ - good move picking up Minnie. Bob-cats are buzz saws when conered.

Doug - Doug - Doug - Dunce

Watched the C'Boys win one finally and now watching the NASCAR race. Rooting for Tony.

Regards, Roy

They called me in to see where it was leaking and it had air coming right through the alloy rim. It had never leaked for 10 years but when we took the tire off you could see porosity in the casting. Now I need a 16x8 rim and looks like there about $100.00 and I can’t find one out here in the sticks. Go figure.  best price on line is $114.00 Bang Head  Bang Head

Sounds like you and the dog had a great day in the wood. We have bobcats here but I have only seen the tracks.

Jeff, I was thinking of trying Rubberized paint It will only be used for the spare because I used the spare rim to replace it.

Morning all.  Being lazy this AM.  Animals do not understand Standard/Daylight Savings changes.  Finn was standing beside and licking me as I slept around 5:30 EST [yes, he is that tall].  That would have been 6:30 AM EDT.  His Mom gets up that early during the week so he figured it was time to have breakfast and go out.  After getting up, I reclinerized some.

May shoot some this afternoon.  Got several .22 mags I have not shot at all.

Have a great week.

I had a couple of aluminum alloy Buick rims do that some years ago. No way could I afford new ones so I coated the inner surface with tar then painted over it with epoxy paint. It worked but it was almost impossible to get the weighting correct. Larger wheel weights had to be used to bring them into balance.

Hi GUYZ,

28 and cold here.  Going up to 55 today.  Gotta suck up leaves today.

Had a nice time hunting with my BRO and my gal MINNIE.  We walked alot, MINNIE ran all over the place.  Corn was still up so we have to work the hollows and hedgerows.  MINNIE saw for the first time 2 woodcock, they flushed in the hollow at the creek.  Froze her for a second then she was after them.  She flushed them again and that was the last we saw them.  Can't shoot them fore we don't have a migratory license.  Next she was on a few squirrels that she treed.  Then a few rabbits.  Then six different deer she chased out of the standing corn.  One massive buck, 8 points or better and about 200 lbs she chased out of a hedgerow.  Pretty deer wide rack over 20 inches.  I though for sure I'd seen the last of my MINNIE but she was back within the minute.  On the last pass and getting about 200 yards from the truck we turned the corner of a corn field when she saw a momma bobcat and 2 of her kits.  Well MINNIE took off after her.  The momma went into the corn and the kits went up a tree.  Then they saw us and they went into the corn and MINNIE came out this senerio played itself out at least three times.  Looked like a revolving door with cats and dogs running after one another.  On the last time MINNIE came out I said STAY she did I gave gun to BRO and then picked her up and carried her to truck.  She was good after that but mighty tired.  Went spotting deer then saw a few more buck nothing big then came home had a burger and sausage by the fire with a few OL MILs a great day.  Now it was a special treat with the bobcats because to see one is something but three of them that truly is special.

JEFF in LA, what do you use for the decals?  Water soluable paper of just the sticky stuff?

Stay frosty,

Good morning. It's 60° and cloudy. Weather guesser says the high will be 75°. Wind SE 10 to 15 mph. It will be partly cloudy.

Just general cleanup today. What with getting the laundry done yesterday I didn't have much time for other things. I did get the L&A decals on the Front Range covered hopper and I did a fast paint and weathering job on the track cleaner tank car and applied Willamette Western decals to it. I still have to apply the Clear Flat to it to secure the weathering.

Aloha from a sunny Fall day in Crystal Lake where I was awake at 0-dark-30. Oh well.

I can't believe I forgot to take photos yesterday - there was just so much, we got right to work.  Jack, he has a Santa Fe 2343 and a B unit with the screen louvers. The boxes said 2343c and 2343t.  He also had a pristine Virginian Trainmaster - the blue mold with yellow stripes - and a nice GG1 whose number I am forgetting. All the streamline Santa Fe cars. They are sure big and heavy. An dusty 2-6-2, NW-2...

Joe that is the main thing I miss about the military and that is to visit other countries. You learn so much about different cultures. I had a blast overseas. I tried to make the most of it when I went over as knew I would never be able to afford it all after I got out.

Morning all ( already rose and removed hat and bowed) So a left coaster had to return to the right coast for a bit glad your here. Know you have to go back but at-least you got to return to the correct coast for a visit.

Not much planned for today may remove rest of Standard gauge track From shelf layout as got interrupted yesterday now can't even remember why lol.

Well guess time to get moving need to make some breakfast talk to you all later.

Konbanwa,

Today ended up being a very relaxing, easy-going day.  My wife did not sleep well last night and the baby boy was feeling a little lousy this morning so we did not even go to church.  They felt better by mid-afternoon and then my wife and princess went grocery shopping.  I was able to watch the end of the Alabama-LSU game today as well.  It started around 1100 my time and I finished watching it after lunch.  I also saw some of the KSU-OSU game.  The time difference will work out in my favor when the games are in primetime back in the States.

Brutus - My wife has some photos on her iPhone; I just haven't loaded them to the laptop yet.  We definitely took some photos of that McKBQ burger.  I will share them soon.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good luck, Dennis - seems like it has gone pretty fast!  Joe, sounds like a great trip with the family - no pics?  Doug - no pics?!?!?  EEK!  Man, it would kill me to see all that stuff going like that....

Gotta check the water pressure on the house. They hooked up to county a while back and it seems our pressure in the house has gone up. We have a pressure reduction valve, so I might give it a half turn (down) and see what that does. Might need to put a pressure relief tank on the hot water side of the house.

Today I used my 1/2 HP drill (not the usual battery drill driver) to cut a 4.25 inch hole through a double 2-by including pressure treated and installed the vent with cover cage thingy. I added a couple feet of 4 inch tube to it ahead of time and then secured it all inside. A bunch of caulk finished it off. It was in an awkward position so I had to hang off a ladder for about and hour or so. Knee hurts, so guess I did it right Bang Head

TARDIS is ready, so let's hit that High Way!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Took a nice drive to wander Indiana.  Stopped in for what was supposed to be a few minutes at depot museum in Salem, Indiana.  Stayed 2 hours.  Jeffrey would love this especially as it was HO model of what Salem and surrounding communities looked like in the last days of the Monon.  Although there is a lot of work to do, it is absolutely breathtaking.  Plus there are some AF and postwar and prewar Lionel on display.  Rest of the drive both before and after museum was great as well.  One of those good days to be alive.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all.  Well, social worker visit went well.  This was the final one before we get the kids.  She will put together the home study and then it is all paperwork to China.  After all that was finished this morning, our son was invited to his best friend's birthday and a sleep over.  They are a great family, but live about 45 minutes away.  Nice drive in the country.  They have a nice size farm and are in the cotton harvest, with about half done.  Lots of great things for our kids to learn on a visit there.

Well, gotta hit the sheets.  Even with an extra hour of sleep, I will head to bed as it has been a long week.
DougM., just wanted to let you know some of those apps have been great.  Hope to help with the kids and their education.  Some of the apps will help with things for the additions to the family as the boy will need speech therapy and the girl most likely will need vision assistance education.  Thanks,
Dennis

I finally got the L&A decals put on the Front Range 'Shorty' covered hopper. I'm running low on decals now. I guess I can try making some. I have decal paper but my old printer will likely screw them up like it almost always does. The hopper has been sprayed with Clear Flat and is drying. I'll post a photo tomorrow morning.

Aloha from a beautiful Fall day in Crystal Lake. It is cool but sunny. I had an interesting day. A buddy called me up last minute to drive with him to an acquaintance who wanted to price his toy trains. I'm glad I forgot my checkbook because this guy had everything - postwar, in absolutely mint condition, with boxes, even Lionel wrapping. It's like they were never used. His dad kept good care of everything... and no one wanted it. So it was fun opening and unwrapping everything to check - then searching Greenberg's and eBay to make lists - Trainmasters, GG1s, F3s.... It was like Christmas. Spent 4 hours there and forgot to take even 1 photo... Ah well.

Afternoon All!

Slept in a bit but woke up early to hustle son off to a SAT special test he needed to apply to some NE schools.

Going to 70 here today. Nice and cool this AM. Watched some of the NASCAR race and then went and got a half cord (if one calls wood cut 18 inches wide stacked 4 high and 8 long a half cord - the way it is in the big city) and son helped me move it from truck to rear of the back yard. He also ran the mower and oicked up all the leaves.

Son and his girlfriend going to HS Homecoming tonight. Dinner, dance, and then to a lakehouse a bunch of them rented for the night. My wife and I escaped chaperoning Yes.

A few of us parents are going to dinner after the requisite photo shoot.

K Busch got his own self suspended for 2 races. Someday he is going to learn.

Chuck - keep it up! So glad you are doing well!

Joe - keep the stories coming - livin' vicariously through you!

Watching A&M vs OU. A&M would be doing great if they could stop handing the ball over to OU.

Hope everyone has a great Sat evening.

Regards, Roy

Mornin' Ya'll,

Dennis, I had the Formula model Fiero, one of the best ones made IMHO, that was a joy to drive. Yes it rode pretty hard, roll over a dime and be able to tell if it's heads or tails, but it would go thru country road turns holding the road like it was glued down. Always wanted to add a turbo to it, much the same as GM experimented with but scrapped when they beat the vaunted Corvette, but arthritis took the joy out of it. Sold it and got a new pickemup truck, which the grandson loves.

Now I know who to blame for this cold & rain that came in yesterday. Must have been all those Packer fans in town yesterday. Laugh Pretty sure they will leave with a win but at least quite a few visited the museum yesterday and left a few dollars behind. Thumbs Up
