I posted this to the last topic, but there were computer problems and my post never made it. So I say again:

I love "City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie... even though Steve Goodman wrote the song, Arlo put his signature on that one. That's probably my favorite all around train song.

BUT for the best song for our train hobby, for me it's the love song that Neil Young wrote for his son, "Transformer Man" off the computerized vocals "Trans" album. "Transformer Man" just hits it right on the head and I love the song.

For those who cringe at the thought of listening to the "Trans" album, there's a acoustic version of "Transformer Man" on Neil Young's "Unplugged" album and on the VHS of the MTV show.

"A Man and a Train"--theme song from the film "Emperor of the North." I don't recall who wrote or sang it, so I'll have to dig out the video and check the credits one of these evenings. The film also ranks as my favorite devoted to trains and railroading--by far the most realistic I've ever seen.

My second choice would definitely be Arlo's rendition of "City of New Orleans."

Many trains songs are too "Railroad specific."
I cast my vote for the generic "I've Been Working on the Railroad!"
No matter what we model or run, we all (Every scale and gauge) have been "Workin' on the Railroad!"

Dale Evans was searching for the perfect gift for Roy Rogers. She finally decided on a set of custom boots. Roy was thrilled and wore them everywhere.

One day Roy was out riding and suddenly he was attacked by a mountain lion. Unbelievably, the lion took Roy's new boots and shredded them! He was understandably upset when he made it back to the ranch and told Dale what happened.
