Hi GUYZ,
Back from running the 0-4-0 at the PIONEER TUNNEL again. It was nice this morning but was hot and humid this afternoon. Had to have the blower on this after to keep up our pressure of 90lbs. It ran good save for the last trip and had just that little bit of a hick up. Hot and sweaty but the OL Mils taste pretty good. Tomorrow back to weeding and taking care of my wood pile.
Stay frosty and watch your topknot my friends,
laz57
Not a lot going on today just relaxing wife did want to go out first thing this am but thats done now sitting in a/c house as its a hot one out there with heat advisories for us. we hit 100 today not sure what the heat index was but know it had to be up there.

Greetings Ya'll from Sunny and Dry High 70s Taxachusetts,
Normally we get DougM's weather a couple of days later, but not this year. It's been dry and we have missed most of his hot temps. I have been off the air since last Wednesday or so and got way behind. PC issues.
Our spring was w-e-t and the mosquitoes now are thriving, out of control actually. At dusk they own the outdoors and are ravenous. It seems the City has stopped spraying......another victim of budget cuts I suppose.
Happy belated Fathers day to all. We had a wonderful cookout at my daughter and SIL's. Surf and turf from the grill, stir fry veggies, and twice baked stuffed potatoes. Then my granddaughter and I went off to the local ice cream store to pick up dessert. I had the super-sized root beer float!
Banks.......you and your family have my prayers for your Mom at this difficult time.
SJ........I was off the air for your birthday, so happy belated !!!!!!!! Rumor has it you got a flexible sigmoidoscope for your birthday. Dennis knows what they are. Glad everything "came out OK."
JoeyD and AF Ray........I was relieved to hear that your Yankees are going to win the AL pennant. That will save John, Laz SJ, Chuck, DougM, Traindood, and I from fussing and fretting about our teams for the rest of the Summer. There's always next season. Plus, I can always use theYankees' t-shirt to clean up dog excrement. .
Brutus......more good news on Char, and I'm glad to hear it. I sure was glad Brent wasn't there to help you dismantling your neighbor's tree.
DougM (and Charlie).......sorry to hear about the car. The insurance money is of little solace when the practical value of the car is higher. At least no one was hurt, and that is what truly matters. Would you please pass on some of that rain to me? Re Disney, many of the venues let you make a reservation while you continue on your way. Then they Fastrack you past the long lines when it's your time. Look for the kiosks!!!! We went in the Summer one year and stayed poolside during the heat of the day and then hit the parks at 4PM to close. The little ones slept well!!!!!!!!!!
RaySP.........great news on your progress with your PT on the knee.
Rich.......big congratulations on your daughter's graduation! j Same for the safe trip.....what a haul!. As another posted, peace reigned on her important day. I can remember when my daughter graduated.....that wasn't something in my eye that day when a trickle ran down my cheek.
Charlie.........what a horrendous bite little Jack got!!! Looks like a prehistoric monster mosquito got him!
HudsonJohn.......congas on your son's graduation from the fire academy. You must be very proud.
Chief........re your throat exam, did they check for petrified and caked on grits?
MikeC.......glad to hear your "furniture moving" hobby is almost behind you.
We seem to have lost Brent and JimmyT again. Jefelectric too.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Hi All, Just received an e-mail from Bert @ Wild Bills and was told that my Hudson has arrived. Unfortunately, I will not be able get there until Thursday.
Sounds like there is more good news with the formites than bad.
Prayers for all ! ESPECIALLY those "IN HARMS WAY"
Dood, mine does not tilt. Has mesh drop down back gate.
SJ, colon thingy. HUMMMM

Lunch Time,
Traindood, Harold's Pastrami on Rye for lunch today. Tastes Great.
Chief, Have fun on the trip. I would have to pass going to the Ava Gardner Museum. A number of years ago my Mother in Law took my daughter and AF53's 2 daughters on a trip to the mid west. The girls were young and had no idea who Donna Reed was when she took them to the Donna Reed Museum and festival.
SJ:
Wabashbud: Good luck with the heat and smoke.
Charlie: have a great trip to the Magic Kingdom.

Home from the colon thingy with a thumbs up.
Not a great day in Paradise (Jacksonville, FL) I can see only about 1/2 mile due to the Georgia smoke and no rain insight. Hard to breath if your an old fart and its forecast to hit 99 today. Guess summer is here.
Good morning all,
Happy first day of summer! I did a light workout (pushups, sit-ups, etc.) this morning while the baby watched. The baby had a good time and he kept crawling underneath me while I was doing the pushups, which made them last a little longer. I have the usual tasks at work to complete today.
John - Congratulations to your son; that is a very impressive accomplishment.
traindood/Doug - Early in my AF career I used to work with some nasty stuff (MEK) and they still feast on me. My wife and I can be sitting right next to each other on the patio and I will literally have four or five mosquitoes on me at any given moment and not one will be anywhere near my wife - it's amazing.
Doug - A couple of years ago we went to Disney in July; that was not the time to do it. It was way too hot to enjoy it during the day.
SJ - I'm glad all is well and I hope you have your nap.
Good day,
Joe
Good Morning
overcast and 80s today, storms possible so they say. Home from the colon thingy with a thumbs up. Got home, plopped on the couch but couldn't sleep so here I am..S.J.

Morning all!
Got some good showers early this morning - maybe 1/2"?
Mid-90's today and maybe more showers.
Doug M - I must have missed what happened to your car? Doesn't sound good.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
cnw1995 I'll send you some rain too, Chief. Getting some just about every day this summer. What are you pulling in that new large trailer - a mower?
I'll send you some rain too, Chief. Getting some just about every day this summer. What are you pulling in that new large trailer - a mower?
Mower if needed. Golf cart if needed. Lumber if I have anymore projects. Heavier trailer and it was on discount so price was same as Tractor Supply's and others' 5X8 wood floored trailers.
Every man needs a pickup and a trailer.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Morning all. Sprinkled here.
Mike C, quit holding rains up there. Send some here. Actually "red and yellow" passed over the lake house this AM. Means Pam's flowers are doing good and the grass will need MOWING. Running soakers here this AM.
Rich, I know you are proud. Maybe she will come north for a long stay. Probably good that X was not around.
8N, thanks for the help with SS.
Going to Smithfield NC to Ava Gardner Museum with Senior Ladies' Sunday School class this afternoon. Stop at a "family style" seafood, fried chicken and bar-be-que restaurant on the way back. The "Ladies" always love for me to attend their events. Really is fun. Nice bunch.
TWC now has added the Sportsman Channel. This is great.
Gave Frankie my new 5X8 mess floor trailer. He is going to mow grass on days off. Bought me a new 5X10 wood floor heavy duty trailer. Got to go get license tag for it.
Have a good one.
Aloha. Hot and humid already. I love it! It's my favorite day of the year - the summer solstice. Just got the OK to go to a conference in Orlando in Nov. Will try to see if I could take the family. It would be nice if the youngest could experience Disney. Joe, if that's true about the skeeters, then it's true for me as I'm pretty dark and my bride is opposite. Dennis, good luck with your Bible studies. Like Joe, I've been fortunate to facilitate them for years and never feel I know enough. Brutus, you're letting Char toss around tree branches. She must be feeling well. Sorry you had to work on Fathers Day but kudos for helping your neighbor. Last night I tried to poke around Percy to see how hard it would be to get his front end off. John, congrats on your boy's graduation!
Mornin' boys. Wet and sticky morning in the Mid-Atlantic region. Took fifepup to work, and did grocery shopping bright and early. He's standing a little taller lately.
anjdevil - Did you ever hear back from BaltoCo? There are some sweet deals on homes in this region (some with water views)!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 72 degree. Going up to 84 today with a slight chance of rain.
Today is a busy day. I have to drop off the dog at the groomer's and run a few errands. Then, the usual chores around the house. Maybe a nap, later this afternoon.
Manager should have pulled the pitcher before he lost the game for the Indians.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good Morning,
Beautiful day in Jersey. Sunny and going to 80.
Nothing new on the train front. The Fire Company had a big extrication drill with the EMTs last night. It went very well. My son made me proud. Thursday night is his graduation from the Fire Academy. Time to put my uniform on.
Charlie, that was some skeeter. Trindood is right, Ice Cream with Gummi Bears.
Rich, Congrats to the daughter. House hunting, the house next door to me is for sale. It has been for over a year. Price has been dropped over $100,000 from original. Taxes are reasonable. Let me know.
Brutus, Good news on Char.
Joe, Congrats on your son's team win.
AF53, Peterson's has gone a bit downhill since it was sold and remodeled. I mean Galloping Hill Inn.
Traindood, I have a Harold's up the street from the shop. Guess where we get our OT meals from.
Have a great day,
It is supposed to be rainy in SE Indiana today. I just hope the spigot does not turn off again as it did last summer. Good day at work. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good evening all,
This is a late post for me. Our 7y/o son played his last regular season baseball game tonight: his team won and he went two for three and fielded well. Afterwards, I helped get the kids settled in for the night and then went for a three-mile run since I overslept this morning. The weather was perfect for a run since a storm is about to blow in.
Charlie - I hope Jack's eye is getting better. Mosquitoes always tear me up. Doug - I was always told mosquitoes bite darker-skinned people more than fair-skinned people. It seems logical because my dad and I have some serious olive skin and are always fighting them off, but my mom and wife are fair-skinned and never receive one bite.
Rich - Congratulations to your daughter. I hope your house hunt is quick and successful.
Dennis - I have led men's Bible studies and Sunday school classes for years and sometimes I feel I am never prepared enough. Those classes go easier for me when I trust in His power and not mine.
AF Ray - That was a nice outing tonight for Nova. And I guess John, Dennis, traindood, and I will eat your share of the Reubens.
Brutus - That's great news about Charlene. I'll pray everything continues to progress well.
Good night,
PS - Congrats, Rich! Good luck on the house hunt!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Banks - prayers and prayers for healing.
Charlie - ouch! Poor kid!!!
Doug - good luck on the car and stuff.
John - no big deal, I promised him to help him take it down. Talked to Mel tonight and we are going to see if a tree service will come and just haul all this stuff away. I agreed to help pay as it will take about 100 trips to the woods and a lot of it is on my property now. If it is too dear, we will go back to the original plan though.
Charlene is doing well. She even helped drag some of those branches to the big pile yesterday before she got tired. She is working about 30 hours a week now and running the kids around, so things are getting more "normal". Her skin problem is under better control with some medicated shampoo they gave her to wash her face.
Anybody ever alter the front end of a plastic loco? Doug and I are trying to figure out how to transform a Percy into an Ivor loco.
TARDIS is ready, so let's get going. I know where the banilla locker is hidden and we can go forward a few hours and get SJ after his big test tomorrow morning, when he is feeling better!
Thats probably the one I have new in original box. I do know the door has to be open for the light to come on lol I do remember that much been a while since I looked at it. I did put it on track once and added power to check it but thats it so I guess its not new anymore its used in original box lol
I have to dig it out tomorrow but would bet jeff kane could get you the parts www.ttender.com
or boxcar bill
at http://mttponline.com/
Sunny and about 90 today.
Yes, Chief, I'm back at work today, doing my part to keep SS solvent. Even put in some OT. Won't help though - I'm salery.
RT - My EMD generator car is the 1994 issue. That won't matter for the replacement pole. I finally got it on the track tonight. Internal light did not light up. Disassembly and inspection of the car revealed that the power lead to the truck was broken off at the solder joint. Easy fix. While I had the car apart, I noticed that the can thingie that goes over the light bulb and is rotated by the coil is missing. Have to look for that too. Other than a very clean shell, I'm beginning to think I paid too much for this one - even if it was 25% off.
All for now.
Had a great day for fathers day as it was spent with the kids! Couldn't have asked for a better day. As for Reuben's, you can have 'em. For me a great place to eat in North Jersey is Petersons. (Oops, I meal The Galloping Hill Inn, It was Petersons when I was a kid). At 5 points in Union, exit 138. Great dogs!http://www.seriouseats.com/2010/10/new-jersey-hot-dogs-galloping-hill-inn.html
Banks - Prayers for your family. These can be tuff times, good luck.
NJDevil - Good to hear from you. What an emotional time you must have had, NICE!
JoeD - Now we can march through Cincy? One game down with a "W"!
Later

Good evening everyone. Just finished my homework for the Tuesday morning prayer meeting at church. I am filling in for one of the group leaders who is heading to Brazil on a mission. It would be in poor form to show up without having done the work. Been quite busy lately. Had a number of complex cases this past week and also was on call so that I had to do rounds over the weekend as well.
Banks, will pray for your mom and family. For someone in her situation, the focus is usually on quality of life, and not on longevity. They usually would not do prolonged chemo treatments that really take their toll on the body. They may shrink it and do a surgical removal. With regard to the A-Fib, there are a couple of procedures they can do. One is called a "Maze" procedure where they isolate the pulmonary veins which have the conduction for the atrial node. We do a lot of this type procedure, but we do ours open as we are usually performing a mitral valve repair/replacement along with it. They have come a long way with it over the years and have good results.
Regarding Reuben sandwiches, I had one of the best ones at the Pepper mill Grill in Las Vegas recently. It was about 4" thick and so tasty. I used to get them all the time up in NJ, but that was many years ago and the place I used to go is long since closed.
Well, better get going. Hope that each of you has a blessed night.Dennis

70s today with an afternoon shower. Brutus you know where the key is, come on in and get the banilla..S.J.
Congrats on the Princess, RIch! The youngest and I get eaten alive by skeeters. I should own stock in calamine lotion makers. But they don't touch the bride. Go figure. Rumblings of bad news from the car repair estimator that the car is so bad they might total it. Boy, I hope not ... Off to run trains and listen to the Sox battle the Cubs - an exercise in mutual futility.
