Howdy guys - back at work today to send money to those SS guys :)
Mother-in-law's car got scraped by a guy on a motorcycle who was speeding on the highway. Everyone was okay though. There were witnesses and stuff. She did have to get a new tire. In other news, one of my sisters is pregnant and found out it will be a girl and another sister has a gallstone, so she will have to get that fixed up tomorrow I guess. Char is doing better - got to visit with the kids today for about an hour. Still having some difficulty with food, but a little better each day.
Tardis is ready, just after we make a phone call.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Hi Guys.............Good to see the Chief is still kicking. I have been absent for a couple of years now, since packing up the layout at the other house. Now have a new house and a 15x22 train room that I am painting now. I kept all the benchwork from the last one.
Last time I saw the Chief it was in Coeur d Alene in the middle of a blizzard....come back for a visit, and I promise good weather.....HA
Look forward to you guys input on my new track layout.......which I haven't even thought about yet.
Tim........................BTW I am now.... pigseyes.2..........a new name !!!!
Welcome home Tim !
Wow, what a great start of November, BigBoy and Pigseyes come back to the nest.

Tim, welcome back to the fun filled pot. Must be something good going on as we are having all these familiar faces showing back up after quite the hiatus. Hope that life has treated you well sir. Was thinking about you earlier this week as a friend was out your way Elk hunting. He saw a monster, but was not able to get a good shot at him.
Doug, I am thinking about heading to a meeting in San Diego in January. Need to check on things, but if I do, I will give you a heads up. I enjoyed the last time I was out that way....we stayed at the Del.

Good evening all,
It is cloudy in NE Illinois. It has been a good two days. Looking forward to Train Fest tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Wow, we have been blessed. Tim [Pigseye] and Elliot [Bigboy] coming back to visit. Pigseye, will remember that trip forever. Was fun though.
Stuck at home "peeing" dogs. Was just awaken by them wanting out. Would not go out at all if not for them [Wifey enjoying NY]. SICK!!!!!! Was fine and suddenly came from meeting in Raleigh to meet with House Member. By the time we finished talking, I had sore throat, ear ache, teeth hurting and YELLOW [yuck]. Came home and been inside except for dogs.
Sleep tight and I hope the dogs let me sleep late [usually Wifey gets up early with them so they think I need to do the same].
Good night all.

I woke up to some cold rain this morning. It forced me to run on a treadmill at the gym. Unlike most people who run, the treadmill hurts my knees and ankles - I have no issues running outside on the pavement or concrete. Needless to say, it was a harder 3-mile run than it should have been. Plus, I find running on the treadmill very boring, even with music or television. My wife was in OK City today so I picked up the older two kids from school and stayed home from work the rest of the afternoon. The rain has still been on and off. We had Mexican food for dinner tonight and did not do much afterwards.
Tomorrow, the wife will be going to a Christmas craft fair with a friend and I will be holding down the fort with all the kids. It is supposed to be cold again tomorrow so I'm not sure if much layout work will get done. I don't want to bring the baby out into the cold garage. Also, PSU plays OSU at 14:30 CST. After my wife returns, my older son and I may walk around looking for small rocks we can use on the layout; we need some for where the water meets the shore banks on our lake. I have one layer of realistic water down and I want to do another layer once some rocks are in place.
I know most of the folks here frequent eBay as I do too. Has anyone noticed the prices seem to be higher as we get closer to Christmas? It seems that way to me anyway.
CNW – No worries, it’s my pleasure to serve. It is what God has called me to do.
I'm off to bed. I'll say some prayers for all those in need.
Good night,
Joe
Good evening all, It's late here. O dark 30. Had some entertainment this afternoon. New neighbor's 5 collie dogs got out and it looked like a prison break. They were running down the street like race horses. Actually, I think the wife was trying to take them to nearby park but did not have them on leashes. Hope she finds out the regulations around here before she gets a ticket or something for no leashes.
Have any of you guys ever put scale couplers on passenger cars? I need to put some on my new GGD 12-1 scale heavyweight pullman cars. Need to find out what kind for body mount. I use 072 curve minimum.
Only one more week until Cal Stewart show in Pasadena.
Two more weeks until Thanksgiving followed by Dixieland Jazz festival in San Diego. Last year we went down on Thanksgiving day. This year we decided to have dinner at home and go down there on Friday and Saturday then come back home on Sunday. Picked up turkey yesterday and put it in the freezer. Got 16LB. Butterball brand for eight bucks along with grocery order.
Weather warming up a little each day but cool/cold nights.
Good night all,
Ray

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 26 degrees. Going up to a sunny 62 today.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will spend some time in the train room. Need to dust the trains and layout. Nascar race today.
Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Feel better this AM. Did not sleep but three hours in bed. Mostly in recliner. Dogs have to go out and be put in fence area. Warmer here. I think this cold and warm days got me sick.
LAZ, sent you an email.
Chat later.
HI GUYZ,
23 and frosty one here. Going out for pheasants again today maybe in short sleeves, to get to 63. Ran trains on layout for 1.5 hours, NO PILE UPs, just checking switches and derails before screwing down track.
PIGEYES 2, great to see you back, adorn us with some of those great shots out there in the BIG SKY COUNTRY. Welcome back!
DOUG M. sent you a reply.
CHIEF, got it will call and order later this morning.
Stay frosty BOYZ,

Good Morning
Another foggy start, going to 50s.
I just received news of a big disappointment. Was planning to meet with some train guys tonite for some play time but plans fell through. Oh well the Buckeyes are playing Penn state so that will be my evening. ....S.J.
Aloha from a cold, grey and rainy Crystal Lake. Mike C is around somewhere.... I feel a disturbance in the Force. Unexpectedly busy day. Thanks for the info, Laz! Bride getting ready for her retreat tomorrow. I will be Mr. Mom for the next few days. I foresee lots of train time.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Tim,
It has been a while.
Just got back from the show in Monroeville. Not a single piece of AF roadbed, but I did get two 314AWs and a control box. Also got an MTH Aerotrain to put away until Christmas. More on the 314AWs asap.
Howdy All.
Dennis, At the Del ! Wowser ! That place is neat, also way out of my price range. There is supposedly a room or two that are haunted. Let me know when and I'll give you the two bit tour.
Ray, If you guys stop by the museum on friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the "Kid's Club" will be running the layout. "Semi-controlled Chaos"
Good afternoon all, Lazy day here and warmer. Lost a couple of parts yesterday while working on my scale passenger cars but low and behold I found them this morning.
Dennis, The Del Coronado is a beautful place. Always wanted to stay there but never seem to get around to it.
Doug, I would like to visit the museum Friday after Thanksgiving but the Jazz Festival is pretty all consuming. There is so much going on I doubt if I can get over there this time. The last time I saw the layout was when we made it a destination and rode Amtrak down the coast. Might do that again sometime.
Ran some trains and played some music this morning in the train room. Amazing how time flies when I do that.
Cal Stewart is coming up next week end in Pasadena at the Pasadena Convention Center Hope to see a few Forum friends at least. I will be running trains at the DCS demonstration layout just inside the main entrance on a large carpet central. Exibit hall A 7B (entrance B).
later,
Good evening everyone. Been a absolutely beautiful day here. Had to go pick up son from a friend's birthday party...he had stayed over night there. The family are wonderful people too. Had a nice time there and got home about two thirty this afternoon. Son and I primed the well for painting. Will finish Monday.
Doug, yeah, they are some pretty nice digs at the Del. We have stayed in a number of places all over this world and that is our favorite. The White Swan in China would be a close second. I think the meeting in January is either at the Del or one of the places along the marina. Have to check with SWMBO to find out if that is a good time to go.
Chief, get back to feeling better quickly. You are too busy in your retirement to be held up with health issues.
Rich, had a idea. Have you checked the area hospitals? Someone with your experience could certainly do well with fleet maintenance, or plant ops. I know our place has been expanding and hiring on a consistent basis.
Doug in Chicago, I have an old friend who is from McHenry Ill. Is that anywhere near you? She showed me photos of her family racing on a lake with ice boats with sails.
Hope that each of you has a great week ahead.May God Bless,Dennis
Rain yesterday andthis morning. That's OK 'cause we need it - and it knocked most of theleaves out of the trees. Can start taking care of them now.
Tired. Almost 70 hours at work this week. Made my protptypes with the new tooling I've been working on today. That will get me a couple days breather while they are assembled and tested. I'm taking Monday as vacation, and my cell phone battery just might go dead .
My wife has deicovered bridge. She was out this afternoon playing and has plans for playing tomorrow afternoon too. OK by me. The last F1 race for the year is on tomorrow afternoon. Driver's championship is not decided yet. It could go four different ways.
Quit holding my breath for the Lionel November delivery items I have on order - they have been posponed to December.
All for now.
A nice day in the 50s. The Buckeyes, Michigan, and the Red Wings won today. Ah but then there's the lowly Lions tomorrow. Waiting for the thingy with banilla at the ready.
S.J.
Greetings and Salivations from moist Saint Louis, where the temps are down and the cold, dreary rainyness is up.
Blech.
Hope you feel better soon Chief! I've been taking sudafed for a couple weeks trying to keep the head clear. Have fun bach-ing it Sounds like lots of train time to me!
Worked 6 OT, did some grocery shopping with the kids, and now I have a whole day off tomorrow. 18 hours of OT this week and I am very tired of work right now, lol!
Tardis is ready and Mike can drive as I will be in the main salon playing whist and enjoying a stiff brandy
Evening all
Tim - welcome back
Jim - two 314 and a controller!! You luckey guy! The 314 is one the locos on my short list to get. Anxious to hear how the whistle works
Good night and may God bless
Jim
Back at the house. Been at the DWI check point. Supporting my Officers. Wifey would be chewing my --- for being out in the cold with this sinus thing. Already got two and one blew a .22 [had one open quart of beer and three more in the seat beside him]. Will now eat dinner and probably go back around midnight.
Been watching TV and snoozing most of the day. Needed a "lazy" day. Fred could not talk me into going hunting this afternoon and it was real warm for November. He shot one fox and saw several. He just pruchased a new Remington 700 Varmit Special like mine except he got .223 [mine is .22-250]. He was amazed how accurate it was at 100 yds. Bullseye every shot.
Later.
It was a very busy day for me. I woke up early with the baby and once I realized he wasn't going back to sleep anytime soon, I loaded him into the van and went to get donuts. The wife went to a craft fair so I was left alone against the three kids. I survived: everyone except the baby did chores. After the wife came home, my 7y/o son and I went to have haircuts and then to Wal-Mart to pick up an oil filter and some oil. I will change the oil and rotate the tires on the van tomorrow after church. We all went out to dinner at the Western Sizzlin'. It's an okay place; I had the Ranger steak sandwich which was pretty good. After dinner, we went to Staples for a new printer cartridge and the a quick stop at Hobby Lobby - wife got some things, but nothing on the train front.
No train running or layout work today. Unfortunately I did get to watch a little of the PSU-OSU game. Thankfully, I did not watch it all as PSU fell apart in the second half.
I'm pretty tired and I have a full day planned already for tomorrow so it's off to bed.
Heading into deer camp in the morning. I'll try to send notice if I get that 30 pointer :)

Come down here and help us "clean out" some here.
Checkpoint over. Several DWI's off of the highway.
Good Mornin' Ya'll From The Entrance To Cape Ann Taxachusetts,
Well, SJ was once again a bad influence. I read this week where he attacked his yard for a near-final Fall cleanup, and he made me feel guilty. The wife had been getting on me because the leaves covered everything and, after all, we are well into November. So that is where I spent much of Friday.
The sun was finally out, the temps brushed 60, and things had sufficiently dried out from the past two weeks of rain. I felt pleased with what I got done, almost tripped patting myself on the back. Then it all caught up to me last night.
The crud the wife and I have been fighting for 2 weeks has finally been dissipating, but I didn't realize how much it took out of me until last night. Chief......are you taking notes? Took some Advil and slept through the night for the first time in years, woke up refreshed but hacking. Productive hacking.
I finally took my 5.1 Sony surround sound receiver in for repair, the one my wife bought for my 50th birthday (also got me surround sound speakers to go with the receiver). The sound was cutting in and out. I had read up on the symptoms and the solution on a Sony blog, model specific. Told the repair guy what I had read: bad solder joints on a wire running from the power switch to a circuit board. He rolled his eyes. Nonetheless, bingo! That was it. $80 out of pocket and I am now back in action.
In our family room my wife has every table, the insides and top of the entertainment center, the fireplace mantle, and every square inch of wall covered in/with framed pictures. The same is true with all of the other rooms. There are 36 framed pictures in the family room alone. I counted them when I cleaned every one of them and gave the entire room the Marine Corps white glove cleaning treatment this past week. Tonight the #2 granddaughter (who is one and just started walking in October) marched in and made the rounds.
Slimed and/or fingerprinted every single picture she could reach while managing to do the same to the TV screen, the glass and brass fireplace doors, the glass doors on the entertainment center, the cordless phone, and the remotes. For good measure, she spilled my distracted son-in-law's coffee all over the coffee table and onto the newly steam cleaned carpeting too.
Time to baby proof the room (again) and keep her incarcerated there when she visits.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
It is a cool 48 degrees. Rain. Going up to 54 today with rain all day.
Today is an easy day I have the usual chores to do and a small project to finish. Nascar race this afternoon. Maybe from the train room.
Dining car is here for the usual breakfast. Then, it is off to all "Points West".
Y'all have a great Sunday.
I said that I'd post more on the 314s, but this isn't what I had in mind. Let me start at the begining. After a few minutes of walking around the show when I got there, I found a seller with two 314s on his table. He told me that the one had the whistle removed, and I could see that the tender chasis was from an earlier 312. This one was $195. The other supposedly had the whistle (I was too excited to look; you know where this is going...) and the seller said he'd sell it for $250 instead of the $295 on the tag. Great, I thought.
So, at this point I was glad to get a 314AW and controller together. As I am going past another vendors table, a nice 314AW by itself for $150 caught my eye. The seller said he could do $120, so I jumped on this deal.
When I got home a few hours later, I pulled the tender apart on the $120 one to get a look at the whistle. Looked good. What I found when I looked at the tender of the $250 one took me to a level of anger that I can't describe. The whistle is nowhere to be found, and there is a lead weight in there. Needless to say, I am goint to take it back today.
Morning to All,
Had a busy day yesterday. Holiday Bazaar event at school, I had to be there at 07:30, stayed till noon and then to went to my sister's house for birthday party for 4 y.o. nephew. Must have been 12 kids age 4 and under. Loud and silly and I still managed to sit on a sofa and fall asleep. Napped for over an hour. Must have need it. Drove home and arrived home about 8:00 PM and was in bed by 9:30. Slept in until 7:30 AM.
Not much planned today. Should be able to catch the NASCAR race and get some yard work done after church.
Nice to see Big Boy, TMCC and Pigseye2 back visiting the Pot. Better get moving. Take care.
