Aloha all. Just finished up my inside chores. Now to the outside. At least it's sunny but cold. Teen is at the high school playoff game - they're 10-0 for the first time ever. Youngest accompanied me to the hardware store this am. Bought some extra things I wanted but didn't need like a Christmas light 'fixer' - LOL.  Well, everything was 20% off. Way to go, Rich!  Safe travels. SJ. Can't believe you had snow already, Jim. Though it sleeted here Thur. DIdn't last long. Maybe run trains later.

RT,

        I got the email.  Thanks.

Not much going on today.  I am watching a 314AW right now, but I am not sure if I'll go for it considering the show is next weekend.  I am also trying to hunt down some AF roadbed, but that is proving difficult.  Either the quantity or type isn't what I'd like, or it is expensive.

Rich,  nice going on the test.  Old guys rule!  I was the oldest in my class when I hired out on the railroad but I made it.  Nice part is that now I'm retired and some of the young guys are still working.

Dennis, prayers sent for your dad.

Change in the weather here.  May get some scattered showers tonight.  Ran some trains today without any crashes.  Still have a wiring project to do when the spirit moves me.  I built my layout around an old Lionel Type V 25 watt transformer.  Some of my switch machines and lights are on that as well as two loops of track.  When DCS came out I got a Z4000 and DCS and just hooked on to the same track. Too dangerous to leave both transformers hooked to same track so I have to put all the track power on the Z4000 and just use the V for lights and or switch machines.  I think I may have fried some electronics a while back in both the Z4000 and a proto 1 engine from using this goofy duel power supply.  I have to make both transformers independent of each other.

This is a busy month. Thanksgiving, Dixieland Jazz Festival, Cal Stewart, SIL birthday and sisters birthday as well.  Forgot to mention regular meeting of our senior club meeting of friends at church.

Later,

Ray

Hello to all, long day up here. Started out with Scouting For Food this morning with my son.Was fun to watch him running to the houses to pick up the bags. Some folks were really generous and I had to help him with the bags.Have not had a lot of one on one time with him since he started school so it was a good time.We even stopped by to see my wife at her new job.Shes not to thrilled about working for Mickyds but it was the only place that called her for an interview.Hired her on the spot.Nephews birthday party at Chucky Cheese and then to work. Hope every one has a great weekend and prayers for those who need them.

Good evening all,

Today was a very busy day for us.  After taking it easy in the morning and enjoying breakfast, coffee, and the newspaper, we then sprung in to action.  My wife and daughter went to the church to fill popcorn bags and get snacks ready for a family movie night we are doing at the church tomorrow night.  We will be watching the latest Veggie Tales movie - I have always enjoyed those.  The two boys and I started to do some house chores, but the baby boy decided he wanted to be held so that did not last long.  After my wife and daughter returned, we ate an early dinner: burgers on the grill.  It was 75 degrees today.  That's OK weather for you.  After dinner, I was finally able to work on the layout.  I worked on a girder bridge I am making and I am now about 90% complete.  I also started some scenic work: started the pond and laid some ground cover in the area around the pond.  I should finish the bridge and pond tomorrow, and I hope to also get those airport runway lights in.  While I was doing the layout work, my wife made homemade cinnamon rolls for our church youth group and prepped a breakfast casserole for tomorrow morning.

PSU won today giving JoePa his 400th win!

We are pretty exhausted so it's time to relax.

hscsltb - I know a few people who made a very decent living working at McDonald's, and usually there are opportunities to move up the chain.  The current CEO started off as a regular employee many years ago.

Jim - I'm jealous of that snow.  Did you take the Odyssey out to do some donuts?

Brutus - I had a root beer float earlier so I'm going to pass on the banilla tonight.

Good night,

Joe

Good evening all,

It was partly cloudy in SE Indiana today.  Did housework this morning and chores for the saucy wench this afternoon.  She ordered new dishes from J C Penney and we picked those up today.  Good grief those boxes were heavy!  Then we got bale of straw for the pooch at Rural King.  While we were there, picked up a nice New Ray farmhouse for the standard gauge layout.  Not sure where it will fit, but it was only $15 and it had two figures and some old time farm equipment appropriate for the time period.  I also cut down a tree limb that was bugging her.  She wears me out sometimes.  I ran the Scout set tonight.  I may take it back as the smoke unit is not working.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all.  Yankee raid down South.  Got through car show [I did Mayor's video on it] and started to the Fall Festival and a COLD rain hit us.  Had to shut down the event 3 hours early.  Repelled the raid about 3 PM with sunshine.  Did make it so I could go to Miss Edna's for a change.  Missed her order deadline on the Lionel NS Genset.  LAZ, need you to get Barry to order one for me.  Did get to order one MTH NS Dash 9 as she was sending order on Monday.

Howard, wish wifey worked for McDonalds here.  We'd have someone who spoke ENGLISH working there.  Here, McDonalds, Hardees and Sonic offer their "fulltime" employees great benifit packages.

Good night all.

Good morning everyone.  Hope everyone turned their clocks back an hour, or you will be way early for church.  We of course got up an hour early, we knew the time, but our internal clocks are still on prior time.  Wife took the opportunity to make some biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

I have been kit-bashing a old HO burning building kit to put on the layout.  It has been fun, but it is a challenge to figure out how to take the back off and expand the front in a manner that looks real.  It is made more complicated with the smoke and lighting units.  Still, I am enjoying the time and the kids are "helping".

At this time, I have no idea what the temps are outside, but the heat has been running for awhile.  Well, no matter what the temps are, I am sure it is colder in Jersey!  Got a message from one of the guys on the FD up there.  They got a new engine in that they put in service Friday.  The guy is a Lt. and has been on the job for over 20 years, but being the first to work a fire with the new fire engine makes him like a little kid on Christmas.  It was a small brush fire that probably could have been handled with a water can!

Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.
Dennis

Mornin' boys.  Was running trains yesterday, and wifey joined me.  Had lots to talk about "trackside", and we even broached SPMan's topic of new trains and perpetuity.  We talked how each child had shared working on the layout, and whom might want what.  She also encouraged me to finish Cumberland and get my next article in.  While running the trains, noticed a huge amp loss at one section, and spent evening rewiring a section.  Still have a "hot" spot on one middle rail joiner that I can't figure out.

Today = football,nascar,laundry.

Hi GUYZ,

32 and frosty here, going up to 54.  Went for pheasants yesterday afternoon and we didn't see any.  We did flush a covy of woodcock, but we didn't have migratory licenses so we just enjoyed them flushing every 50 yards or so as we walked the creek bottom.  Neat birds!  Went spotting deer afterwards and only saw a few, no buck.

CHIEF, are you serious on me ordering a NS GENSET for you?  I'll order it if you want.  Let me know.  I have the UP and it is well worth the money.

Good Sunday Morning, Gang!

Sunny and 41 going up to 55 later.  NY Giants football @ 4 today as they are in Seattle.

Yesterday started off with giving blood at Church and I'm on the table we have a rescue call.  Turned out to be nothing, but still made it to the house before our trucks got back in station.  It has been pretty quiet though.  Met a guy from Metuchen, NJ and sold him a bunch of RealTrax, then promptly spent it on our 175th stuff (mug, glass, t-shirts, patches and stickers).  Went shopping with a friend and had lunch at Cracker Barrel.  We sat in front of the fireplace which was nice.  Had Chinese last night and did a Pay-Per-View of the Werewolf (the new one).  Not bad, but I was fading about midnight, did see 99% of it.

After I get motivated, have to get to storage and get the train & ceramic houses sorted out for the display.  Hope to get that done before kick oof.

Fife, my Princess and I discussed the trains and she told me flat out: "I'll keep Grandpa's trains and sell all of yours".  Go figure...Bang Head.

Hey, where's John (Hundson) been?  Maybe working on those lines somewhere in Jersey?  We had a blown transformer and then that blew another 20Kv line downtown later on.  I had hoped to see him as we were on standby at the downed line.

Alrighty, that's all from Exit 8.  Mon & Dad are on a secret mission in NC, so I'll have access to the computer more often.

Have a great & blessed Sunday!

Good afternoon everyone.  Had a nice church service this morning.  The pastor of the church that our church is sponsoring in Baltimore was here to give the message.  He did a great job, but since I was on the main camera, he also did a lot of walking back and forth, so I got a workout.  It is good to see such progress on a church bringing some light into the darkness of an inner city neighborhood.

Brutus, Happy Birthday!  I know you could have no better present then for Char to be getting better.  We will continue to pray for her and the rest of your family.  Hope it is a good one for you.

Fife,  I too look forward to your next installment of your layout in the pages of CTT.  It is an inspiration.  As for where the trains go when I am gone, I suspect it will be the store up in NJ who buys collections.

RT, be careful how much pressure you put into claiming the den....I could easily see a "dusting accident" happening!Black Eye  Oh, was that your $1500.00 Legacy locomotive that I knocked off the shelf???? Soooo Sorry!

God Bless,
Dennis

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Happy birthday, Brutus!  It was nice to be doing yardwork in my shorts and T-shirt this afternoon.  Wife and I filled up two vehicles and saved .75 a gallon due to the Speedway rewards.  I shined two pair of shoes while running the Santa Fe freight on the back porch.  Going to a soccer dinner for the youth group tonight.  I had sausages and pancakes on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL after "Desperate Housewives" and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Chilly day.  Was a pretty day though.  Went to early Church and SS.  Then went to mall and got locking tool box from Sears on Craftsman Club sale.  Will screw it down to the work bench at the lake house big shelter.  Put tools in it.  Always running back and forth to the shed ner the house to get tools as they can be locked up there.  Got new jacket to have monogramed with Town of Roseyville, NC.  Got lots of shirts like that now.

Bidding on a used .22 semi-automatic on Gun Broker.  Will take it to the lake house and bring 10/22 home.  Also looking at used .22 Mag. rifles too.

Popcorn time.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!  It's really been a great and terrible year.  Things are looking up and no small part of my support has been from all of you guys.  I thank you guys for all the good wishes, the prayers, the special emails and IM's, the chats and offers of help in every sense.  This is really a special place and you guys are what make it so great.  God bless us, one and all.

Had mandatory OT today and have 12 more hours before next Sunday night I have to do.  Went out to dinner with some old friends and my parents and had some great Chinese food.  Watched some old cheezy horror movies with Lionel Barrymore, Fay Wray, Maureen O'Sullivan, & etc.  Kids barely whimpered, but did groan over how old and cheezy these old movies are.  Good times Thumbs Up

Tardis is ready and I guess we can let SJ have the last few spoonfuls of Rocky Road, providing we remembered to put the carton back in the freezer last night!

Good evening all,

Happy Birthday Brutus!Happy B-Day

We were up early today as the wife was cooking/baking the breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls she prepped yesterday.  After that, we went to Sunday school and church.  In the afternoon I was able to complete my girder bridge and create water in the layout pond.  These both were new experiences for me and I am decently pleased with the results.  I will not win any realism or top modeler awards, but at least I did it myself.  The family and I then went back to the church for family movie night.  It was a fun time and I probably ate more popcorn than I should have.

I'm pretty tired so I'm off to bed.

Good night,

Joe

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Had a good conversation with Lucas and his GF last night.  Hopefully, for the next year and a half (until he graduates), life will be settled for him (and for us!).  Is the situation exactly the way we would like it....no, but considering all the alternatives, this one is tolerable.  Thank you all for the support and perhaps in May of 2012, we will be celebrating another college graduation.  On a side note yesterday, one of our deacons did his first baptism and it was for his grandson.  Pretty cool.  The soccer supper last night was nice as well.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL any time tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.
