Bring American Flyer into the 20th Century with Railsound 5.0

Don’t you just love American Flyer / Lionel Railsound in the American Flyer Silver Flash Alco PA diesel. I use the Lionel ZW transformer with update diodes to operate both my UP 4-8-4 Northern & my Alco. I get all the rail sounds and crew talk on the 4-8-4. The UP I have diesel revving sound and horn. It’s a good idea to use 10 amp circuit breakers or fuses between your transformer and track. You can easily fry the circuit boards in less than 3 seconds. I wish there were more rail sounds audio boards available for American Flyer post war and now. I still thank Lionel for bringing back American Flyer to where it is today. It takes money to make money that supports S gauge.

I presume, for argument's sake, that you really meant the 21st century.  At the turn of the 20th century UP was running 4-6-0s, 2-8-0s and some of those newfangled 2-8-2s.  Locomotives with fireboxes big enough to need a four-wheel trailing truck weren't even a gleam in a Master Mechanic's eye...

When you get old, as some trains do. You forget the day of the week, some time the month, and even the year and century. They call these the golden years. Maybe that is why we like trains of are youth. Those were the good old days!

An acquaintance has one of the Big Boys, K-Line/Lionel, in "S" with TMCC & RS. It is really sweet runnin' and sounding even w/out the CAB-1 & Base. He was in the process of getting them but haven't heard lately if he had.

Maybe Lionel is findley listening to the S Sale buyers at the conventions, do you think?
This was just posted on OGR On-Line Forum if you would like to follow:
This is what Carl Tuveson asked.......

I aked a person at Lionel that knows if the new Challenger is really new tooling or a tweak of the BigBoy?

 A quote from his response.

"It is new tooling. We are digging into flyer and trying to build the market share there."

Check out the New Flyer in the new catalog Volume # 2
Start saving your $$$$$$, and making out your Christmas list.

I'm placing my order for a new Challenger. I hope I can get it by next Christmas.

You can call me a "Luddite", but I love the chuff-chuff-chuff from the old piston linkage in the smokebox.

The pessimist in me says that soundboards are just something that will eventually break and you can't repair them.  I know that for a fact because I have a pair of Bachman On30 locomotives that have sound.  As of right now one does, one doesn't...Bang Head

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

I love the chuff-chuff chuff of the old American Flyer also.Big Smile That is why I have a lot pre-1960's model trains. You can go to my blog and watch the videos of 4-8-4 Northern #800 the older Northern #336 4-8-4.
It is a lot more fun keeping those old trains running, then looking for a circuit board that they don't make any more, or we can't get any customer service by phone..........Sad

If you like the chuff-chuff of the old American Flyer, here is a video to watch from http://az-flyer.blogspot.com/  You can view more of the videos by just going to the blog.

American Flyer Silver Flash Diesel with Rail Sound 5.0

View the American Flyer Silver Flash Diesel with Rail Sound 5.0. It will be pulling Vista Dome Car, Passenger Car, Observation Car, and Combination Car. You will also see much smoke coming from the PRR 4-6-2 Pacific (sit) on the inside track.
