Timboy.....I compare the tearing down of your layout with the pain of a gall stone attack or childbirth,  or the beating of a puppy.  I can't bear to watch so much hard work fall to the demolition phase.  Blindfold

Hi, Timboy, Did you notice it comes apart a lot faster than it goes together? Bruce Baker

I'm with you.  I love building a layout.  Now that I've finished, I'll take a bunch more pix and then in the Fall, I'll tear it down and build another. That'll be #5.  Running trains is OK for a while but building is my fun.

Tearing it down is bittersweet. You hate to see your work gone but you think about improvements and you will enjoy the new one better.

I always gave my kids the job to rip down the mountains!  And they had the most fun doing it!

So, do you have a dumpster available?  That was always my problem with large remodeling projects; disposal of the waste.  Last winter when I dismantled my layout it took me the better part of 6 weeks to get rid of the resulting debris.  Feeding it through the system one pail of garbage a week.  And since where I live they use the robot arms on the garbage truck, you are limited to no more than 50lbs weight per container.  Most of the wood I recycled, but plaster is heavy!

It appears you use a mixture of track?  Some of it is obviously classic AF track, but in the close up of the bridge approach it looks like you also have some hand-laid track?

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

So, Timboy, if I understand this correctly, you shaved your beard off, removed the sunglasses and the knit cap, and that is how you now look as shown in your avatar???

Please advise.

Interesting thread. Always interested in learning from others experiences.

My KATY Central is currently, and rather temporarilary, modeling the ping pong plains division.  I have not gotten around to doing anything permenant yet.  Your comments on de-constructing are good input for layouts that have not been constructed yet.

Since I'm building a new layout .... of course scenery last ... I'm stopping by here every so often for ideas timboy .... why should I try and not like the results of experimentation on my part ... when I can see the fastest = best= and easiest way to do it from experiences you've already tried and work best .  Keep the info and pics coming ... it's extremely useful for my O guage layout as the same materials and techniques apply . Thumbs Up Your past layout was great ... the new one should be fabulous ! By the way we live pretty darn close to each other ... maybe a cup of coffee together some day would be possible . Cowboy

Timboy.....I saw your updated demolition photos and there is still no change in my condition.  Chest pains, nausea, vomiting, uncontrollable tears, and bad dreams.  Shock Big Smile
