All,

Please excuse my ignorance since I am new to this.  I currently run two conventional (non-TMCC) locomotives on two separate ovals on a 5' x 10' layout.  I power them individually with their own transformers: one transformer is a CW-80 that came with the RTR set; and the other is an older Lionel transformer (I believe 30 or 40 watts) that came with its RTR set in the '80s.  I anticipate these two ovals being joined in the not too distant future; however, this will cause me some control problems.  I know I could still block each oval and continue as I have been, but I am considering buying a TMCC system.  I also think I may buy some TMCC locomotives or sets in the future as well.  Here are some questions I have if I buy the Classic TrainMaster Command Set (6-12969):

1.  What else do I need to do/buy to still run my non-TMCC locomotives?

2.  Do I need to buy more/larger transformers to accomodate the new TrainMaster Command Set?

3.  How do I connect my accessories to the TrainMaster Command Set?

4.  Or, should I connect my accessories directly to the Fastrack?

I hope I am not asking too much.  I appreciate the help.

There are two approachs to running conventional with TMCC but my preference is with a TPC. However you would have to buy two, one for each loop, this gives you independent control via the Cab-1.

2.  Do I need to buy more/larger transformers to accomodate the new TrainMaster Command Set?

Transformer size, power, will be dependent on type and size of locos & their consists. Bigger engines and passenger cars can eat up a lot of power. Initially I would definitely upgrade the 40watter.

3.  How do I connect my accessories to the TrainMaster Command Set?

Depending on the types of accessories some you might want to operate with a TMCC accessory controler thru your Cab-1, others could be operated thru 153IR controllers. Or the "old school way" using isolated rails, etc.   

4.  Or, should I connect my accessories directly to the Fastrack?

I hope I am not asking too much.  I appreciate the help.
