Chuck......For this year's Forth of July, what would you think if we decorated up the Duesenberg and entered the Roseyville Parade?  We could dress as Sherman and Grant and wave to all of the Buckeyes that the Chief claims have moved to NC.  We could tow the snow gun behind us.

Grits and soft boiled eggs for breakfast, followed by oatmeal with my New Hampshire wife.

Showers predicted for today and again on Saturday which is the day for TCA local meet.  Theme for show and tell this month is red trains in honor of Valentines day.  Might take my red General type engine from the Lionel outlaw set.

Eastern North Carolina Bar-B-Que from my freezer for dinner last night on a big bun with homemade cole slaw.  Yum yum!  Thank you Chief.

Have a good day all,

 Hello Spanky (DJ):

Welcome back neighbor. Sorry about your dad, and I feel for your mother. To many of us here have been through it. The year will get better.

Have you had a chance to work on that viaduct? Still tuned to your thread, but haven't seen any activity. Now I know why.

Checked on the front porch today for my GTW tender I won on e-bay last week.  Not here yet, but got the wife's attention and 'the look' - what did you buy now!  Relax, I said - just 99 cents - plus $4.95 shipping.  No reply, just another 'look'.

Just be careful. Don't want "the look" to  turn into "Why don't you inventory your trains"!ConfusedWhistling

Gray today 59 and awaiting the rain fall...

Merry Hump Day......

Angel for Brutus & Family, Chief's Mom, DJSpanky & Family - anyone I missed, sorry....

Hmmm... with all this SNOHIO talk, I'll have to check in with the parents...I haven't called since I haven't felt well...I'll check on them later.

RIJack - I am trying to finish 2 passenger sets, the Chessie Super Steam (I have 2 cars) 9582 series and the PRR Tuscan (I have 2 working on 3) 9510 series.  It'll come, just takes a little time.

Hit the sack waaaay early as the Princess told me to rest...kids, bossy at 17 already...I did what I was told....

Feeling a little better, however.  OK off to lunch...

Lunch Time: 34 and SNOW in the forecast. Big meeting at 1:00 for preperations. I know all about helping out the "KIDS" with their homes. My oldest lives across the street. At times my house is like Quick Check without the cash register. I don't know when I will be able to check in, but be careful out their and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone.

Good Afternoon From Rainy Taxachusetts,

We are East of the rain snow line, some places points just West seeing one inch of the white stuff per hour.  Temps are mid 30s here.  Points 45 miles West, 10 inches down.  Further West in the Berkshires, 12".  NH's Mount Washington 125 miles North of here, 18".   This storm is moving out with another for tomorrow. Thanks for the warm air, Chief.  My secret trip South of the MD line to Roseyville to perform sabotage recalibration of your Yankee SnowBlaster 6000 continues to pay dividends.  Only drawback, I still have not had enough snow to test out my first ever awd vehicle.

Brutus.....thank you for thinking of the rest of us when your hands are so full on the home front.  Prayers continue for wifey's continued progress.  She deserves a commemorative train set from you for toughing this out.

Chief.....prayers continue for your Mom.  Whatever, whomever, and whenever she has needed something, you have been right there.  Hang in there.

SJ......Ariens snowblower  Thumbs Up.  I may have paid more on the front end for mine, but I get lifetime free pick up and delivery from the dealer when maintenance is beyond my capabilities.  Unlike some of my neighbors, my unit moves everything, no matter how deep or how heavy; and I don't ever get chute or auger clogs unless I run over a newspaper or some such debris hiding under the snow.

JimT.....clever fix on that gateman's split head usin wood putty.  Even his shoes look polished! Thumbs Up

8N.....great news on your Mom's rehab progress following the knee replacement. Thumbs Up  Sometimes the pain and frustrations of the procedure and rehab are dwarfed by years of pain and activity confinement.  Nothing beats a motivated patient.  Like Brutus, I suggest a commemorative train set for her to mark this victory. Big Smile

navyjack......I sense your anxiety and train addiction growing by the day.  Could a modest layout be in your future?  Ask for help.  Use your resources.  Another addict out there will be willing to get you started.  Big Smile

Dennis.....except for my son's starter set, the 6-1776 U36B GP9 is my only post 1950s acquisition.  I ignorantly didn't acquire the state cars at the time I got the engine and caboose and will have to eventually bite the bullet on this one. Banged Head  You guys all seem to be great at filling out missing set pieces, even if it takes a lot of time and patience.

MikeC.....I received my (2) "free" digital convertor boxes from Comcast for my analog sets.  Had to call once for them to send a refresh signal.  Other than that, no problems yet.  Do you have Comcast?

Chief/Dad......what do you mean you will be trailering the used JD tractor "to her house?"  Since I am your favorite "son," I come first.  Don't forget the snowplow attachment.  As much as it pains me to say it, I will have real grits and red eye gravy for you awaiting your arrival with the tractor. Tongue

Later, gang.

Morning.  Rainy but not cold yet.  Still can go out in shirt sleeves but a little chilly.  Suppose to snow later.  Guess temps will have to drop.  Not suppose to amount to anything.  Go north snow, go north. Whistling   Will drive over to the JD dealer and pay for Oldest mower.  Might take it to her house if I can borrow a trailer.  Mine is under shelter and loaded.  Come back and do trains.  Got to get ready to go to Bass Pro Shops.  Speaking of reporters.  "Little girl" calls me from the Wake Forest Rolesville High School [which will become Wake Forest only.  That is causing a stir too.  New uniforms and etc.  They buy new ones every few years anyway.] and I almost laughed.  She was reading her questions and then had to write my answers before asking another question.  Long periods of slience.  She'll learn.  Later.

Aloha all from a snowy Chicago. Wore the wrong shoes today. Fun to watch the goings-on during my walks to and from work.  As Jack mentioned, I sure try to take advantage of being in the city to take in 'free' things at lunchtime - museums, lectures, concerts, even just go watch the IC and CSS&SB electrics hum through their corridor in the park. Went to see the dino skeletons at the FIeld Museum yesterday. Today I'll go back to the Art Institute even in the snow. Great ride and chat with Brutus, Sir J and RT last evening. Dennis, look forward to welcoming you this summer sometime.

Good morning all,

It is another dusting of Snohio in SE Indiana today with temps in the 20s.  I had a good workout at the YMCA with multiple double digit touches (high of 15) getting ready for first scrimmage in 3 weeks.  Dad was over last night for a while (his girlfriend is out of town helping her daughter) and then wife watched "American Idol" while I switched back and forth between "Lost" and Olympics.  That ski crossing is so cool!  Sort of like roller derby on skis.  Had another of the digital TV converters go out on me.  Something tells me they do not have a long shelf life and are meant to be a temporary transition item only.  "Lost" is still confusing.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast from "Points East".  TBIL after soccer practice, but may have to recharge the atomic batteries before the next run.  Prayers going out to all who need them.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jack, my bad...it is the 1776 set, but it is the one with NW livery with the GP9 at the head.  This is not the one with all the state cars, I have that too, but this is one of the other sets.  I believe there was also a B&A 1776 set too.  I should have been more specific.

Chief, be careful with all the reporters following you around....they may be looking into your campaign contributors and find the "Ohio Connection"!

Doug, one thing I miss being down south is that lack of such places as museum row on Central Park West.  We are planning on visiting Chicago perhaps this summer to visit our friends I have mentioned here before.  Hope to take in some of the sights up that way.  Will let you know when plans are made for perhaps a chance to buy you some coffee.

Well, gotta run as we have a few cases to catch up on.

Dennis

BRUTUS, CONGA on the progress of yor WIFE, prayers still on the way via the prayer train.

Mix of sun and clouds today, struggled to get to the mid '20s.

9 pages back to my last post.  Didn't realize how busy I've been since Thursday.  Long hours at work, electrical projects around the house, new vent fan in the bathroom, started a drywall project that is going to lead into a tiling project, vehicle inspections, and time spent in the licensing office - not to mention the three or four phantom bosses at work who keep sending "small" projects my way.  No wonder I'm beat.  Oh well, as I've said before, busy is good, 'cause the last plant I worked in wasn't very busy just before it closed.

Mom was moved into the rehab center Saturday.  She says that her knew knee is sore, but improving. Finally got around to where I can take some time off to get up to Michigan to visit her.

Big meeting in the plant with all of the bosses this week.  Too bad I'll be on vacation and miss all of the excitement Whistling - though I have heard rumors about some sort of reorganization.

Checked on the front porch today for my GTW tender I won on e-bay last week.  Not here yet, but got the wife's attention and 'the look' - what did you buy now!  Relax, I said - just 99 cents - plus $4.95 shipping.  No reply, just another 'look'.

All for now.

Thanks for prayers and intentions guys.  Charlene is doing great so far, but we are being very careful.  Her numbers are going in the right direction Thumbs Up  Thanks to God.  Prayers for all of us guys on the forum and our loved ones and friends too.

Headed to bed, but wanted to stop by and say Hi - sometimes I forget on these late nights.  Had to take son to get a haircut late, so ran late all night.  Big updates from Microsoft and looks like they were all security related, so I let them run and rebooted already.

Tardis is ready and need to get going - wayback engaged, atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed, hit it!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Jack,

The early gatemen figures were made of a fiber composite with an internal wire frame for support.  These figures are often found with some sort of damage.  Cracking and swelling are not unusual.  Unfortunately, repro figures of this type have never been produced, so I had to get creative.  The wood filler allowed me to fill in the damage without stressing what was left.

Evening all.  4th of July meeting was success.  "New Blood" volunteers.  Been long day and tired.  Maybe rest tomorrow [I hope].  Got "spits" coming in and then turning to mix by 7 PM.  Another try by the Yankees to cause havoc in NC.  Not going to work.  Too warm.  Got early Human Service Board meeting at 7:30 AM Thursday.  Then drive to Concord [Charlotte] Bass Pro Shop for a long weekend sales event.  Maybe I will rest there [you think so].  Popcorn time and then crash.  Sleep tight.

 Hello All'

tried to post last evening but I kept getting 'system down for maintenance.

Haven't had much time lately.

Seems Mrs. Brutus is improving. Continued prayers.

BelatedHappy B-Day to a couple of you.

Only about a foot of snow left and it's all dirty looking. More is predicted before the weekend to freshen it up. Son has been enjoying his snowmobile. I'm getting a few things done around here. in between plowing snow. Running trains when I have a few minutes.

Youz guyz with the snow cannon please point it some where else.

May go to the Kittanning Train Show on Sunday, depends on the weather. Open house at the local train museum this weekend. Hope to take the grand kids.

Have to go to work early tommorrow so I can attend a "TEA" with my grandson tomorrow afternoon. Off to join my MRS. in bed

Good Evnin', Ya'll, From The NE US of A,

Prayers continue for Char and Brutus, Chief's Mom, Roy's sister, Dennis' Dad, and all who need them.

Wife flew out to CA yesterday AM, is checking up on Ray, Don, DougDG, and Arnold.  I had to solo it last night, up to NH for dog training.

It looks like we are in for quite a mix of weather starting tomorrow and through the weekend, but Chief and his YankeeBlaster 6000 have been foiled again.......looks like mostly rain and mix here but snow points immediately West and North.

MikeC.....fingers crossed you get an offer, and one to your liking.

Dennis......we are doing our best to keep the snow cordoned off up here, no guarantees.  How on earth did you score a complete 1776 set for $66?  Some of the cars are going for that, each.

Jon.....is this THE record winter for snowfall for you or what?

Laz......you should build prototypes and send them to me.  I will shake them down and report back.

SJ.....isn't your snowblower self propelled?  Or are the wheels slipping on the ice?

NAVYJACK......glad to hear of your F7 score.

Buckeye......you are right, they grow up way too fast.

Maybe American iron isn't as far behind the imports quality-wise as folks are led to believe.  Toyota taking two steps back and the recall tally mounts.  The Feds should keep the Toyota execs squirming for a while.

DougM.....I agree, JimmyT's restoration is sweet.  What yours will look like.  I still have not figured out why he used wood filler on gateman's metal head (it was split).  I miss Chicago, so much to do and to see.

Rich......65 degrees, we won't see that for another two months.

Fife......I presume the pink flamingos have come out of hibernation.  Mating season soon.

JimSP....we have 2 Nuke plants due North of here near the NH seacost in Seabrook.  Despite our capacity shortcomings, you won't find another one being built around here soon.  NIMBY.  Coal fired plants are getting hammered for emmisions targets they simply will not be able to achieve, based on their economic feasibility studies.  Brutus.....our low sulfur coal still doesn't burn clean enough for the local EPA, importing cleaner stuff from South America I think.

OleTimer.....the word "North" puts a bad taste in your mouth?  Santa will be making his list and checking it twice.  High sulfur coal for you in your stocking!.

Later, gang.

Jack

Good Evening,

36 and raining down the Jersey Shore. Forecast of snow starting Wednesday night into Friday.

Rock Island 52: I special ordered that 1984 Ford F150 4x4 shortbed, 4spd, 302, in October, 1983 and took devilery February, 1984. My kids grew up around that truck. I put over 300,000 miles on it. I kept on top of all the maint. and repairs and it has been a great truck. He always wanted it and when he turned 17, it became his. He never asks for anything and he takes care of things around the house without being asked. The last big snowfalls we had, while I was at work with storm duty, he took care of snow removal, not only for our house but a number of people who needed help. I don't mind helping him at all. We finished the clutch slave cylinder and a few other odds and ends. We are going to change the fuel tank the next nice day I that am off because after loking it over, we are going to remove the bed and prep and paint the frame. Removing the bed will make changing the tank easier and we want to paint the frame anyway.

Take Care, John
