RE: Coal Loader
Doug,
If I remember correctly, you can hook power to the two terminals and the other terminals are for turning on the motor to run the chain and for operating the selonoid to open the chute door. Use an on/off for the motor and a momentary for the chute.
Buckeye--
Very sorry to hear about your step fathers illness and his final journey home. Prayers for your Mom and your family, we will all be thinking of you often.

So many roads, so little time.
Lunch Time. We are in SNOW MODE. PANIC, PANIC, PANIC. All that I want to do is go home and plan out my new layout.
My thoughts and prayers to everyone with health and personal problems.

Morning all. Been lazy today [that is what retirement is suppose to be about]. Got all day [starting early] Town Board retreat tomorrow. Cold rain tomorrow and Sat. but no snohio. Better get moving. Mom is doing great [for 93 1/2]. Always "springs back" after trip to hospital. Errands to run.
I wish upon a star, I wish, I wish: All of the east coast above the M&D gets covered with snohio. I wonder if a certain LE guy will have to work in it???? [seems he is always off when a bad one comes through ]

OK, please help me out because I've never seen one of these in real life - so I have this wonderful looking coal elevator - and I can turn the crank and the coal buckets march up. (I'll have to figure out where to lubricate it.) Then the coal goes into the top. It has two screw connectors on the base that say "connnect to your transformer' and two wires that go from the connectors up the frame to what looks like a tiny can motor at the base of the bin at the top. What do you think will happen if I hook it up?

Aloha all. Cold and grey here. Not supposed to get the snow you easterners are - too bad for the bride who is supposed to fly into Charlotte Sat. on her way to FL. Hope they're ready for it. I haven't told her yet. Good chatting with Sir J, navyjack and Brutus yesterday at various times. Good meeting at the high school with the teen's teachers and guidance counselor - Bob, he sure loves his Small Engines class. Good news about Ray, prayers for your mom and stepdad, Buckeye. Here's the highlight of my day:

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 27, and what best could be described a s the calm before the storm, here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Calling for another BIG one. And of course, you know the local media doodles are doing their dan-dan-dandiest to whip the gentry into a frenzy. Wish I owned stock in SAFEWAY.
Ole Timer - What aaarrrrre you talkin' about If our paths cross on Hwy 151, you'd better jump out of your car and yell, "Fifey, it's me!" And hope it's Fifey that pulled you over...
SPMan - Let's see that's head, tookus, to toe. WOW! You've been probed more than ---Okay, I'm just going to set this punch line down and slowly back away...
Buckeye - Are we ever going to see some pics of this roundhouse?
Good morning all,
It is another cloudy in SE Indiana with lots of Snohio forecast for tomorrow. All sorts of good news to report. First, got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, which is always cause for a good day. Second, scrimmaged at soccer last night. Got a goal and ticked off one of the coaches by guarding her too closely and disrupting her movements. She said it was "obstruction" and I said I was just staying between the goal and her. No ref would ever call a foul :-) It was a good night. Lastly, about four or five months I asked here for some prayers for a daughter of friends of ours as she was getting ready to do some jail time for a DUI. Talked to them last night and her sentence is complete. She finished her student teaching thru work release and has one more semester until she graduates. I think she will be a fine young lady and a great teacher. Thank you everybody for your support!
Prayers going out to Buckeye for his mom. Brutus continued prayers for you and your wife and family. Navyjack and Chuck, thinking of you during your PT. Chief, prayers for your mom. To all, thoughts going to all who need them (I know there are some more here, but memory is not the best anymore...can't even remember all the 500 winners). I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime tonight and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 22 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 34 today with a cloudy sky. It looks like we may get another winter snow storm, starting tomorrow, I hope it misses us.
Today is busy. I have some paperwork to do and an errand to run. Then, a few chores to do around the house. Maybe, I'll get a chance to relax before my 3 pm PT session.
Buckeye....Prayers out to your Mom and step-Dad. Good luck with your sinus surgery.
Dining car is here from "Points West". Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Good Morning all
Buckeye - prayers for you mom and step dad
Chief - How is your mom doing?
Continued prayers for Chuck and Jim F's bride.
Well the new range is in. No glitches. Will work on the washer and dryer this weekend.
The great news is the 332 lives! After letting the wick soak in fluid, hooked up some DC and she took right off, smoking like crazy. Love it! No reverse unit simplifies things a lot. I also cleaned up the 633 reefer, it had the typical casting mold. It is the diecast frame tuscan and white version. Cleaned up to be a very nice loking car. One door latch to repair on it.
Time to get to work
May God bless
Jim
Evening. Was watching a good movie and suddenly it was later. Reclinerized again. Off to bed. Still warm outside for winter.
Buckey, prayers for your Mom and Step-dad. Remember the instructions I gave you on the sinus thing. Irrigate and do not lay down. Sleep in recliner sitting up for a couple of nights.
Fired the .17 this afternoon after coming back from manufacturer [and putting trigger back in]. She fires!!!!!! Ejects fine now. Tried out electronic predator call. Works OK. Was surprised that not but one fox came. Was in the middle of "fox city". Maybe calling later in the afternoon would be better. Will try it again.
Sleep tight.
Brutus - there is a Great Train Expo listed this weekend at the St Charles Convention Center. Wish come true?
Prayers for your Mom, Buckeye - so sorry to hear about it. Prayers for all of us and our families and friends here on the pot.
Kids had a half-day. Mom came over and hung out with them, changed my casserole before she put it in the oven Turned out well, so who can complain, right? Might get 2-4 inches of snow for Saturday morning. Drive home Friday will likely be a mess I'll do some grocery shopping tomorrow night or something, so we are all good for the weekend. Mother-in-law is coming Monday if the roads are clear.
Wish we had another train show this weekend!
Tardis is ready and supplies are onboard. Time to hit it - we have some movies to choose from for the big screen - Emperor of the North or Murder on the Orient Express!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Sunny and about 40 today.
Went into work after a 0230 phone call this morning. Three presses down - two with broken dies and the third with a bad set up. Didn't escape until 1400. Pretty much wiped me out today. Reclinerized a bit after getting home and probably going to bed shortly. I don't recover from days like these as easily as I used to.
Poking around Lionel listings on e-bay without any real idea of what I want next. A coal loader maybe?
Bob - you are not considering re-installing a dead battery into that clock are you?
Buckeye - prayers for your mom, and good luck on your roto-root, er, sinus work.
All for now.
Buckye: I hope the best for your Mom. Good luck with your sinus procedure.
Buckeye, will say a prayer for your mom in this situation. May God meet her at her need and bring her peace and comfort in the tough road ahead. Also, will pray for you and your nose job! Hope you don't end up with a Barbara Streisand nose! Anyway, hope all goes well and your breathing is eased.
Ray and Don, and for that matter, anyone into digital photos. A lot of information regarding taking photos and working with them in Photoshop Elements 8 and other software is available for free tutorials at several sites on the web. you should be able to do a search and find them.
Long day, finally got home a short while ago and had to read to kids. Called Dad as I know it is a tough day for him (would have been Mom's birthday). Sisters went to cemetery and left flowers. Got a call tonight that I have to go in early and do a heart tomorrow, so I hope to get home early to get that work on the layout I had planned for today done. I love the work I do, but it does interfere with the important things like trains!
God Bless,Dennis

Buckeye ... prayers all around for you and your mom .... bless her . Wife just called and said we're supposed to get blizzard conditions saturday ... .... how wonderful ..... . Hope the doctor gets you straightened out ... good luck buddy -----
How's everybody tonight? We are expecting some snow this weekend.
Yesterday, drove past the construction of the new roundhouse near Sugarcreek, Ohio, the steam mecca of the Midwest. Yes indeed, when done, you will want to visit Buckeye and see the new roundhouse. Fishing and trains; life can't be much better in Ohio. (Bring your own worms.)
My Mother is currently watching her husband of fifty plus years slowly die before her eyes. It is a sad story for just about everyone involved. My father died about two months before I was born. She remarried when I was 5 and as they say, it wasn't the Brady Bunch.
This Friday, they will be doing some out-patient surgery on my sinuses. I don't know how long I will be down and out, but I'm looking forward to being able to breathe.
Everyone have a good rest of the week.

Great evening ... RT called and we talked for 1 hour and 45 minutes .. ! Did'nt seem like it ... like the old saying goes " time flies when you're havin fun " . Heading back to the tardis to wait for the rest of the crew .... everybody be careful out there ... finally getting all these detail parts sorted and off my desk ... LOL .
Bob ... don't envy you with all that snow ... that skunk joke gave me a good laugh ... poor skunk .... LOL .
Dougdagrump ... when I was a teen in the 60's when we had the circuit to cruise ... one of my buddys had a 36 or 37 with the rumble seat ... man we had a blast riding back there ... if none of you young guys know what a circuit is ... not the electrical type .... watch American Grafitti .... kids today don't know what they're missing .

Hi GUYZ,
Worked a little on the layout this afternoon after school. Started to paint up a river scene hope to have it done for SPF?
NAVYJACK hope all is getting better with your health, prayers for you.
Stay frosty,

navyjack......ask some of these pt and medical folks if they know of anyone that has a ping pong table they want to get rid of. That should get their attention. Then tell them what you want to do with it. Face it, train addiction has bitten you. Playing with trains is pt.......just ask Chuck.

hello guys, hope that you are all ok.. nurse came over today and bp is a little better. dr. is coming over friday, well will keep my fingers crossed as then i can continue pt. we live in a real rural area, and on our property we have woodchucks, lynx, ferrets, and all the native birds, although we are 300 feet away from the lake, thank god we have not seen any cotton mouths. when i was a kid in chicago, there was a coal trestle that was tended by a steeple cab. for that reason i picked one for my favorite photo as i used to watch it for hours. grandson rolled on his side today. he is 3.5 months old.
pat: i am not getting emails either?
doug: hope that you are fine
sbmmbob: sounds like you got a great job. i am proud of you mate.

About ready to pack up here and head out. The road is pretty nasty. One of the guys got stuck coming up. Guess I'll go out and throw the chains on. Not great for my cold, but better than trying to dig out.
We also had employees that were "outgassing" regularly. One used to sleep in the outside trailer we used to have. There was a skunk living under his room. One visitor asked "what do you do about the smell?". My response, "the skunk will just have to get used to it".
I'll check in again when I'm back to 2200'.

Fife and DougM.....a neat looking crossover (with a hemi sounds great but not available) but too small. We can't fit dog crates and the Dobermans in Caliber. The wife also wants third row seating which we have not and don't need. And a center row entertainment system (DVD) for the grandkids, which we don't need (buy a portable and forget it). And AWD which we have never had, without issue. And navigation built-in while we have a Garmin. And one with some serious horsepower because that is what she is used to.
By the time she gets done the price tag will be horrific. Low mileage late model used is probably a good choice. We've been out looking at and driving all of the SUVs and crossovers, and she has found fault with every one. Been reading Consumers Reports new and used Car Buyers Guides. Edmunds car forums.
