Trying Scaletrax?
Posted by scherbear57 on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 7:08 PM
I have been prompted by some fantastic modelers to give Scaletrax by MTH a try. It appears that MTH has made advances in making the track available, increasing the choice of curves and switches and the price appears to be moderate. The appearance of the track is quite nice. Who uses Scaletrax and how have your experiences been with it? eliot

Eliot....If you can find a copy of THE BLACK DIAMOND RAILWAY all your questions about Scaletrax will be answered.  You will see one of the best layouts using Scaletrax.  They also show how they built the layout.

^ True, the black diamond railway is awesome. You can find sample movies when you type in a google search. Actually it was that layout that inspired me to try out O gauge, when I saw the video of two reading T-1's smoking across the mountains, looked so real!

The guy teaches you his ballasting techniques (absolutely amazing job) in the dvd apparently (I have only seen the preview), you should definately buy a copy.

The fellow you are talking about is Rich Battista and I am certainly going to take your advice and buy the DVD. As a matter of fact Rich Battista is one of the people who urged me to try Scaletrax. I have some of the track on its way with an MTH fixed pilot scale wheel diesel. I will report my results next week. eliot
