Yes, a beautiful day here. I'm couped up in the house. Well, could be worse. I could be in the hospital [like two times before] with this mess. Glad to hear from Brian. Hope all are doing good. The garden needs rain. The last tomato and squash plants I transplanted are not looking so hot. They need water. I noticed that our temps have been higher all week than Phoenix. In fact, several days we were the highest in the nation. That is strange for us this time of year. God bless all.

Chiefster, Which would you prefer the unusually warm weather or what they have been getting in the Denver area?[(-D]

Warm is better and a little wet would make it great. Wife's former co-worker [and our friend] just moved back to Denver from NC. He's with USDA.

The "warm" weather has hit here in GA, mid 80's today. We're in the midst of a draught (sp?). No need to cut the grass this weekend.

I guess if this heat keeps up it'll be time to turn on the AC out in the train room, there go the spring electric bill savings.

Well...the neighbor gal who usually cuts the grass in her bikini was wearing her fur jacket today here in central Texas...kinda rainy and chilly here - only got up to 78 F. I'm inside, trying to figure out what pix to take for our Sunday morning Photo Phun. I think I took most of the interesting ones already so maybe I should take one of our bikinied Austin lawn goddesses, running a Garden Train or something...

...and since this is an O gauge forum, I'll put some of my 3 rail stuff on her flats...her G-Scale aquarium car is big enough to hold some of your NC 12 lb. largemouths. Would that take your attention away from the operator? (wink)

Good Morning All,

Yesterday I stopped a garage sale and found an ERTL farm country set. It is really 1/64th scale but ERTL sets are sometimes on the large size. The houses and buildings are closer to 1/48 scale. The people are somewhere in-between. The Long horns and cows are on the small side. The horses are ok and I like the colts and cafes. The Chickens and geneses are the correct size. Oh yah, all this for a buck, how could I go wrong.

Tom, you always find great "find". Now you need to build another layout to cover this country stuff. Slept late and slept good for a change. Hope everyone has a good day and God bless all.

Brother Jim, I'm looking. Kinda hard to do from inside house. I'll round you up some from somewhere. Hey, go spread 34% nitrogen on the neighbor's yard. With the rain, it will grow and she will have to mow every day.

No deal, bro...! Then she'd want me over there every day to empty her grass bag...and work on her mower...and compost the clippings...and make sure her bikini looked OK...and sit on her patio to talk about trains and stuff...!

...kinda makes me want to move back to Iowa! At least the girls wear clothes when they do yard work.

The [}:)] Doctor is In!!! I bow to Spankybird in his shrewd Dealing! I came across an
Ertl Farm set at a White Elephant sale(local muesum fund raising) for about $8.00.
Except for the size of the animals and people(more S, than O ) the buildings are great.
Now, My milk car and Stockyard have a place to go. Now, to find some more O scale
animals and farmers. (the stock car cows are black angus steers) I hope to find some
tractors and such(I may buy the flat cars with tractors just for the loads) Save some hot,
black & sweet coffee for me tomorrow! Till Next Missive, I Remain The Humble, Yet

Smart man across the "pond" there. Daan, Jim is so old his mind will not let him keep you in mind. [:D] Up and at it. Town meeting this AM at 8. Town Manager is feeding us. Then back and hope I watch it rain [the rain the Texans have been hogging for some time]. Those tomato and squash plants need water bad. I can water they but nothing like that which comes from the good Lord. Weather has finally turned back to spring from summer. Our temps have been running 10 degrees + above our normal spring temps. Rough on those tender plants fromt he greenhouse. Waiting for fishing report from Buckeye. [?] Hope all have a good W--K [can't say that 4 letter word] week. God bless you all.

Good morning all,

If you don’t like your weather, then move to NE Ohio. It changes every few hours. Saturday was sunny and high around 70, Sunday in the late hours (after 6:00pm ) it made it to 70 and then on to the down slide. This morning some left over rain and 48 going down to 38 and maybe some of that white stuff. Don’t you just love it.

See the coffee is on in the work car.

have a great day

Tom,

I purchased the same Country Farm set about 3 or 4 years ago at Potomac Outlet Mall here in northern Virginia. Cost for the entire set was $10. you can see one of those structures in Sept03 CTT. The only problem I've had is when I use my dark light, the cows shine brightly. So instead of the "cattle are lowing," the cattle are glowing.

Chief is correct...I am too old to even understand what you're talking about...(wink) Besides, she doesn't like to wear many clothes so she keeps her house too warm for me and I couldn't run my trains...

I wish she would start a lawn service and hire out to you guys...her slogan could be:

"I cut a mean yard of grass
My bikinis are always top class!
So, give me a call,
I'll whack your weeds tall
And you can look at my...

Snapper!"

Jim,

I definitely need a chipper shredder. Cost of mulch each year is killing me.

BTW, one thing I like about forums and emails is that I don't have to be grammatically correct or even watch my spelling; a pleasant reprieve from my editor respoonsibilities.

Anyway; people pretty much understand what you are saying. For example:

Try to read the paragraph below, and then consider what it actually says.

Dave - she has a couple of hot girl friends who can do a very good job of chipping and shredding...!

I agree...Sister Margaret Mary, who taught grammar in grade school, would roll over in her grave if she read some of the stuff on the internet.

Speaking of the real chipper/shreders, they are really nice to have. I jsut need to grind that stack of limbs behind the fence tha thas been there a month or two.

Now as for Snappers, they are fine mowers but nothing out runs a Deere. [:D]

Well, really feel a lot better. The garden plants feel better too. Just had thunderstorm come through and give them about 1/2 inch of rain. They are all perked up. Now I need to continue to improve so I can make it to St. Louis on Thursday PM. Last BPS show for a month. [8D]

Well, looks lke everyone is sleeping so I'm going back to bed. Got much needed rains yesterday and last night. Got up during the night to let the boys out and it was still raining. Tomato and squash plants are loving it and will grow now. It also turned cooler as we have been having well above normal temps for this time of year. Hope you all have a great day and God bless all.

Good Morning All,

It a cool day in NE Ohio, 44 deg going to 48 and then down to 36 tonight with maybe white stuff. I sure am glad its SPRING. But by Thursday it should be 75 for a high.

Hey Buckeye, look what I found in the MTH catalog

check it out at http://www.mth-railking.com/detail.asp?item=20-2532-1

I did get my MTH catalog last night and noticed that MTH lowered the prices on may of its RailKing steamer with PS2 to $299.00. These were $399.0 and $429.00 last year.

Have a good day all

If you are using a push mower, be careful if you haven't had any exercise over the winter shoveling snow. You might end up in heaven, where toy trains are overly abundant and price is no object!

Speaking of heaven, did you hear about the couple who arrived there recently? If not, it's worth a read, for rewards of a healthy lifestyle:

The couple was 85 years old, and had been married for sixty years.

Though they were far from rich, they managed to get by because they watched their pennies. Though not young, they were both in very good health, largely due to the wife's insistence on healthy foods and exercise for the last decade.

One day, their good health didn't help when they went on a rare vacation to the York train show and their plane crashed, sending them off to Heaven.

They reached the pearly gates, and St. Peter escorted them inside. He took them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, with a fully stocked kitchen and a waterfall in the master bath. A maid could be seen hanging their favorite clothes in the closet. A train layout the size of a football stadium awaited. And for the lady, there was an extreme makeover. They gasped in astonishment when he said, "Welcome to Heaven. This will be your home now."

The old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost.

"Why, nothing," Peter replied, "remember, this is your reward in Heaven."

The old man looked out the window and right there he saw a championship golf course, finer and more beautiful than any ever built on Earth.

"What are the greens fees?" grumbled the old man.

"This is heaven," St. Peter replied. "You can play for free, every day."

Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch, with every imaginable cuisine laid out before them, from seafood to steaks to exotic deserts, free flowing beverages. "Don't even ask," said St. Peter to the man. "This is Heaven, it is all free for you to enjoy."

The old man looked around and glanced nervously at his wife. "Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods, and the decaffeinated tea?" he asked.

"That's the best part," St. Peter replied. "You can eat and drink as much as you like of whatever you like, and you will never get fat or sick. This IS Heaven!"

The old man pushed, "No gym to work out at?"

"Not unless you want to," was the answer.

"No testing my sugar or blood pressure or..."

"Never again. All you do here is enjoy yourself."

The old man glared at his wife and said, "You and your damn bran muffins. We could have been here ten years ago!

SNOW???? what is that? [I know, we had more this year than ever] Going to take pictures of Pam's flower gardens and show you what she has done. Now I wish I could get a quick flight to Austin. Need to give Jim's neighbor "mowing" instructions. Spanky, those MTH's look mighty good.
