Hi Chief,

It was my believe that you got credit for every posting. I haven't been watching the posting counter. BTW, it counts on all parts of this forum.

Dave, I found just what you are looking for ! Surfing around thru e-bay last nite, nothing else to do, there was a listing for an old Minute Man Missle site out in the Dakotas. Can't remember where but it looked like a real big place. [(-D]
PennCentral, I remember those kinds of days, when I was with the B&O in Cincy I would sometimes catch the L&N transfer. It was maybe a trip of 15 miles but trying to cross the river into Ky and back would take anywhere from ten to twelve hours. From your posting it sounds like you are working what we called the Xtra-Board, on eight off eight unless you caught a road job. Used to get pretty punchy after a while, never knew the day or date. Engines with the desk top type controlls are just about impossable to sleep on,,,,But The engines that come down from Canada have cots that pull down!!!! NICE

Doug,

Coincidentally, I was joking the other day w/a friend about moving into a Titan Missile Silo.

PC,

So you can take turns sleeping, engineer 1 hour, conductor 1 hour, as long as both don't doze off sounds like a plan. I always thought it would be cool to see the scenery but I think engineers don't really care about scenery as they are watching signals and monitoring radio traffic. Probably not as glamorous as I thought when was a kid.

We're lucky to have a real railroader on this forum.

Another day done, cloudy, humid and cool, currently 78 F, here in NE GA. They're talking possible thunder storms tonight and rain the rest of the week. All coming in from the gulf. I guess it'll reach Chief in a day or two.

FJandG, Actually I do watch the scenery, alot, We run over the {what I'm told} second longest bridge in the United States At over 200 + feet high and almost a 1/4 mile It's quite a thrill when you round the turn with a thick fog and can't see the BRIDGE!!!!! You live by faith real good!!! and I probly shouldn't tell this due to who else reads the thread,,,But,,, I and others have been known to stop on the middle of this bridge and fly a papper arirplane out the window of the engine,,,,,,,VERY Mature!

On the Science channel last night, physicists claim to have discovered the Theory of Everything that eluded Einstein. After 10 years of playing with and then discarding String Theory, the new version is that our world is but an infinite number of other parallel universes. The big bang was caused when one bubble collided with another. Sounds like we might be living in someone's beer foam.

Larry, I just upgarded to Norton 2004. Gives you firewall, spam blocking [works great], add blocking and anti virus. $46 or $49 bucks downloaded from internet with 1 year's free re-downloading. It will block things like this AM and then you click on details and the map will show you where it is coming from [world wide] and then give you the details [name, address, IPL, phone number and email plus other stuff I do not know what it is]. Unbelievable.

Larry, I'm not a computer expert. I don't think a Trogan Horse is the same as a virus. No noticed viruses from CTT site. Road Runner blocks a lot but once in a while, Norton will catch one that Road Runner does not. Sounds like you got the "worm thing" that was being pased around. You need to also run updates from Windows too. Is et everything on auto updates so they are done automaticly and I get a notice they are done [in case of Norton] or I do them right then [in case of Windows]. Shame we have to run all of this protection to have a good network and computer. Good luck.

This is getting good. Went out and bought a bigger coffee pot. [:D] Got a lot of drinkers here. No more word from Larry and his zonked computer???? Jim Duda is not typing. Guess Ill call. Buckeye has not been around as much either. Did Big Girl lasso Elliot? Dr. John must be on restriction as wife came home and found house dirty. He may be in for a "house washing" [Bonnie and Charles, why not Bonnie and Clyde?] Jon usually drops in at least once a week?????

Boxcar Bill,
I was just at Trainorama about two or three weeks ago. Do they still have the G scale K-Line Beer Cars for sale in the store?

Good Morning all,

A good start to the morning, our server at work is down first thing. Very cool day in NE Ohio, temp of 66 with a high of only 68. I sure am glad it is Summer.

Looks like you folks on the east cost are going to be very wet.

Boxcar Bill – I have been there, a great place. If you very make it to Cleveland, pop me a line and come over for a visit. I know the store does a few of the train shows in the Cleveland area.

All have a safe day

tom

Morning all. Not much to report today. I'm looking at a nice job in the Pentagon.

Busy writing on screenplay but still want to touch bases w/ all my good train buddies. Hope we get some rain today, missed my area yesterday. Had to use the garden hose.

BB told me to say hi to everyone.

Good morning, all!

Chief, I did get a little bit of that "house washing" you mentioned as Tropical Storm Bonnie came in last night. Most of the heavy stuff was far to the east of us, so we mostly had a lot of rain with very little wind. It did cause some flooding in low-lying areas and one bridge was washed out. My heart goes out to those that are in the path of the hurricaine coming toward the Florida Keys and heading north. I heard there is a possibility that the two systems could combine. (Remember what happened in the movie, "The Perfect Storm"? . . . )

Chief,

BB is one of the main actors in the screenplay and novel (doing both). Although she doesn't have any speaking roles, she does have some barking lines.

What do you think producers are looking for in a movie?

The number 1 question they have these days is:

"Will kids like it?"

Dr John - I think you may have something on the stroms combining. I just looked at the radar, and it sure looks like they can be suck into one big strom.

Chief and Dave better look out.

Be honest, I'll take an inch of rain. Put out fertilizer [special kind and heavy] on the front lawn last week when they called for heavy rains. Got enough to just melt the fertilizer. Now got burnt lawn. Good rain would get it going back again. Mowed and it sprinkled on me and when I finished, it stopped and has not rained since. OH WELL, it done.
