Cold and clear in Buckeyeland.  Haven't had to swat a mosquito for at least a week.

Big party tonight.  Mrs. Buckeye is all excited.  She bought a new dress for this event.  There will be something like 400 people at the party.  I have to wear a coat and tie. Sigh [sigh]

Colin, good story.  Have fun at the train show.

A lot of running around town today.

This weekend we will do the outdoor decorations.  Putting them on is not bad, but taking them off sometimes gets a little icy. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Train show on Saturday.   Nitro might be there selling his telephone poles.

Chuck have a good time riding the POLAR EXPRESS at Dennison, Ohio.

As LAZ says, TGIF.

How did I do that?  I've started two pages in a row. Big Smile [:D]

See ya down the tracks.

Good morning from a frigid northeastern Illinois where it is currently 1 degree in Crystal Lake. Today hopefully will be the the day I can take the grand hobby store tour under the auspices of shopping for Christmas gifts...wish me luck. I've recently been re-reading about the 101st in the siege of Bastonge (sp) during the Battle of the Bulge - can't believe they were fighting in weather like this...

WOW!!! Its a bit nippy here in the capitol.  Just to remind the Ohioan's about the shows this weekend. There is the one on Saturday at the state fairgrounds, and the TTOS one on Sunday at Franklin county fairgrounds. I will be at the one on Sunday peddling my wares for all who need telegraph poles. I haven't seen some of you guys for a while, so stop by if you can and say hi!!!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cold 14 degrees and sunny. Going up to only 30 today with sunshine. We had a little snow last night, but nothing to worry about.

Today, I have some errands to run and things to do around the house. I am hoping to take an hour or so, and run trains this afternoon.  Tomorrow we go to Dennison Depot for the Polar Express train ride. Good hot chocolate.

Buckeye.... I hope you and your wife have a great time at your party tonite.

Well, off to the Dining Car. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning all.  Up early.  Wife waited to go to work and went shopping for an item that was on some "early bird" special.  Now she has called and is not going to work but coming home to decorate more.  Said whe was bringing me a sauage and egg biscuit from Bojangles.  Then called back and said she got me a porkchop biscuit.  Already getting on my nerves.  Porbably no train room work today as she will whine if I don't help her decorate.  She will not like my Elk hunting and fishing on TV.  How long is it until Monday. Wink [;)]

Cold here.  Got to go to Lowes and get rubber cups for the legs of the benchwork.  It slides all over the place on that slick carpet.  Got District Wildlife Enforcement Christmas party tonight.  Let me get my Starbucks and settle in for a few.

Later.

Good morning everyone,

I woke up about an hour ago, after going to sleep at about 1AM. I am just a little excited about the show this weekend. I will be heading out soon, so I will talk to everyone later.

Buckeye thanks for that link. I will check it out sometime.

Chief--
I can relate to your dilemma, re: wife.  I'm OK tonight as I'm working a very large event but tomorrow I'm free and it worries me.  I've been invited to a large jazz fesival tomorrow and I'm thinking about going, we'll see how the morning goes.  Had a 7:00 a.m. rehearsal this morning where I used to teach, always a joy to work with kids in that situation, it's like being a grandparent--go, have fun and then leaveLaugh [(-D]

Last year we had one of the gals that my wife works with and her son come out to see and run the trains, had a great time.  Now it's his birthday next week and he get's to be the "big cheese" for the day and he get's to invite a speaker in for 30 minutes and I just found out last week that he has invited me in to talk about toy trains to his 1st grade class.  I'm going to take in a trolley, steam loco, diesel loco and different kinds of rolling stock but I won't have time to set up or run even a simple circle.  What I'd really like to do is have his class come out here and spend an hour but I guess that's not a possibility.  Should be a fun time.

Stay safe this weekend, I'm going to try and keep a low profile.

Jon

Congrats on your speaking engagement, sounds like a lot of fun.  What a compliment!!

Probably shouldn't put this in the same post, but thought I would send it along...

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male

and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer

drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to

mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give

birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's

reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be

a girl.

We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-*** man

in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

Attention!!!! Lowes has blue foam insulation board at 3/4 of and inch [4X8] thick.  Thought of something, SIL is contractor.  Called him.  He has a building supply place here that carries it up to 4 inches thick.  Guess where I will be getting my foam for layout?

That's great, Chief, I couldn't find anything thicker than an inch from our Lowes.

Didn't get to the Hobby stores - went to visit a buddy who I heard was in a far-away hospital with heart problems. Did drop into a Menards - their Wisc Central set is only $107 - Loop of Fasttrack, 2-4-2, with air whistle, smoke, headlight, gon with containers, caboose and another car, Powermax transformer... Almost bought it - then remembered the 2-4-2 sitting idle on the layout...

Boy, I'm glad I'm not at work today - the downtown Chicago train station is closed while the police investigate a shooting. Right at the beginning of rush hour on a Friday - they'll be lots of unhappy people soon...

Now they just mentioned a shooting in an office building. What's going on there ? They should make it a law that shooting people would not be legal there !!

Glad you were'nt there, Doug !!

Chief, I don't think you were paying attention.  A week or more ago I told you to check out the building supply houses where the contractors buy their supplies.  Even in PA Lowes doesn't stock thick foam.

Now that I have scolded the Chief, Good evening to everyone.

Visited Cool Trains this morning, ran trains for a few of the little customers and picked up some Realtrax for my layout revisions.

Picked up my repaired hearing aid, which made my bride very happy, no more excuses for ignoring her. Laugh [(-D]

Ran trains a little, haven't been able to get the second DCS remote to work, probably doing something wrong.  Guess I will have to read the manual. Smile [:)]

Have a good weekend and enjoy the train shows going on.

I did listen.  Where do you think I got the idea to call SIL.  I was going to call major building supply houses and then I thought, "Self, call SIL and let him find it and get his discount."

Thanks John.

Back from District Wildlife Enforcement Chirstmas Party.  Big steak and potato.  Pleanty of sweet ice tea [yes on a cold night].  Was good to see some of the guys I use to work with and also help with vehicles.  Made me feel good as they were all complaining that nothing went right after I retired from NC Motor Fleet Management.  Then they tell me of all the screw ups and I laugh.  Theya re not getting the types of vehicles they need.  Just what the bureaucrats think is right [none of the go out into the field and work with the guys to see].  Sad that I worked for years building something and it falls apart when you leave.  I still get my retirement and government ginds on.

Cold.  "Miss Edna's" tomorrow AM.

BTW: this software just posted my post and I did not tell it too.  I had to go back on edit and finish.  ??????  Has done that before.  Be typing away and suddenly the screen changes and it posts.

Its finally cooling off a little here, down to low 70's, suppose to get some rain Sunday, and temps down to mid 60's

Doug - Today has been Illinois' day in the national news, with everything in Chicago, then that terroist from Rockford, can't believe it.  My Aunt works at the Cherry Valle Mall.  Sure am glad they got that guy, hopefully there isn't more across the country.

Picked up a little Santa hand-car, to run on an elevated track we have on our layour.  The polar express is on a 72 oval and the hand-car on the 36 elevated.  Wife having a hen party tonight so I flew the coop and out in the train room.  Chris was here for awhile and we did some engine maintenance, then he is off to the movies with girl friend.

Going Christmas shopping tomorrow morning and hopefully finish it off.

Going to do some final reviews of new layout design, and throw it on the forum for some criticism.  Going to start making some benchwork plans, and hopefully start in a couple of weeks.  I had planned on waiting to go to York and picking up a track cleaning car, but maybe I'll have to order one sooner.  Getting tired of wiping the track all the time.

Hope everyone has a great week-end.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 26 degrees. Going up to 40 today with sunshine.

Today , we are going to Dennison, OH, for the annual Polar Express train ride. It is only running one weekend this year, instead of the usual three. You get a nice train ride, hot chocolate, and there's a Santa for the kids. He takes the time to talk to every kid on the train. ( There's one in each car ). Last year, there were 10 cars. Pulled by an F-7. I'll take pictures.

The Dining Car is open for breakfast. See you later.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Good morning from a cold and windy Crystal Lake where it is a balmy 22 degrees. Hope to run some trains later today - now got to try to get the cats out of the Christmas tree where they like to roost in the sunny spots like birds. The tree and ornaments doesn't like it - especially with the cat that's upward of 20 pounds... :)

Hi guys, took a while to catch up for the past 2 days - plenty of posts.  Went by Schaeffer's Hobby on Gravois.   They were packed with shoppers.  Their train section seems to be shrinking and I can guess why - they are way out of line on pricing.  Everything is full retail and some PLUS.  Was going to pick up an operating/railing track for the O27 layout - going to modify it slightly for Christmas and put down white stuff etc.  Well, they are widely available for about 14 to 18 dollars.  These guys want 32 dollars for it!  Man, I said put it back and left.  Sigh [sigh]  My wife is getting ready to go on a Christmas shopping spree and I might do the same, though mine will be ONLINE.  Son is pretending to vacuum the floor - seeing how much he can aggravate his mom to see if she'll tell him he can quit.  Won't work - she's got a stubborn streak! Evil [}:)]  Worked 4 hours of OT this morning.  Rumor is we could be back working at home before Feb 2007.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Got more track from Miss Edna.  Will buy the 736 she has.  Got a sheet on the benchwork.  Actually two as I am cutting each section in two pieces.  Lot easier to carry upstairs.  Added another cross brace down the middle so I could screw the top to a complete board.  Back from moive.  Hope to do more tomorrow afer Sunday School.  Later

Chief, It would be almost as cheap to just fly Jim down and have him paint you one. Wink [;)]

I finally got my meter panel and 180w brick installed, along with the additional DCS TIU.  Still have a problem getting the second handheld to address the other TIU.  Overlooking something I am sure.  Will post a couple of pics on SPF.
