Breakfast is done, two out of three granddaughters up and about and fed, as soon as I'm done here its off to cut grass for the next 3 hrs.. I finally am at the point of installing the liner in the above ground pool I'm putting up for the GD's, probably start on that this afternoon since there's a chance of showere tomorrow. If time allows I'll run by Memory Station and drop off my Lionel Hudson, seems the receiver board may be going/gone.

Seems I work harder weekends than at my part time job during the week.

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill [/code]SUNSHINE........45 degrees, going up to 70.
That's a summer calling. Looks like it's gonna be a beautiful day.
I really slept good last night. Got up once at 3 am to have a cookie and use bathroom.
What a difference, a good night's sleep can make.
Today, I will go for a walk, with the " boys ", and work a little in the train room. Have to
get ready for a big project. MAKING ROADS. Also, putting down the trolley track.
I have to get to a hobby store to get some grass matting. Maybe, I'll take a ride to
Bridgeport. There's a good Hobby store there. I wi***here was one closer.
Time to eat breakfast. Talk to you guys later.
Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 49 and going up to 60 with overcast skies which may give way to some sunshine later.

NHRA is in Columbus this weekend. Tony Schumacher (Army of One) posted a 4.476-second pass at 331.53 mph Friday night. This should be a great weekend for their racing.

Chuck – nothing beats a good night sleep. The last few days our sinuses have been giving us trouble. Must have been all the rain.

Buckeye – good luck with your fishing.

OTTS Meeting this Friday. Anyone wishing to join us can e-mail me for directions.

Good morning from a sunny and warm northeastern Illinois. More Little League today - I see my blissful evening of track re-arranging disappearing in favor of my wife's wishes to watch some DVDs... Maybe I can get some in under the guise of 'cleaning' the basement.

The UP 844 from what I understand left San Antonio this AM. The UP website has a list of times and dates where it will be. http://www.uprr.com/newsinfo/releases/heritage_and_steam/2006/0411_socentral.shtml Take a look and see if it will be in your area!

Marty,

I saw this monster a few years ago just north of us, amazing. I had gone early to get a prime spot to photograph and about 5 minutes before it arrived we had a tremendous down pour with lightning. I think I saw it go past from the car.

I chased it for about 15 miles as they had a local radio celeb on it and he was doing live broadcasts and they had to let him off but they wouldn't say where. About 100 of us figured out where it would be and by then the rain had stopped. It was so cool to get that close. Well worth the effort.

Playing Mr. Mom today as my bride is working. After this morning, I am glad she only works one or two days per month. The kids are a lot of effort, but worth it. Going to be Hot here today, so I am not sure I will be grading the area of the yard for the swings today.
Got two big boxes from The Train Station last night, now I will be moving the furniture to start on the layout[:D]. If I keep up with the progress, I may get my layout done before the Chief.

Chuck, glad to hear you got some good sleep at last! Tom, hope your sinus clears up - I have to take medicine every day for allergies and it's a PITA.

Warming up here in Lower Arnold MO. The contractor's guy showed up last night and got his last check for the siding/gutters/roof - I let hiim put a sign in the yard, which he said he'll come back and get in a few weeks. They gave us $200 credit for cracking the driveway. I'll caulk it up and maybe repour in a few years after it's cracked up a lot more. Still not bad enough to warrant more than a patch job I think. Also gave me a free vent piece that matches the siding - I need to put in a fart fan in the basement once I get the shower stall sealed. Haven't been able to work on it since I had my operation - hope to be better in a week or so. Still some bleeding, but I guess it's getting better. If not, I'm going to a different doctor.

Up late watching dvds with my wife - High Society was a great movie, but I think I prefer The Philadelphia Story version.

Looking forward to Father's Day and my new train set!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Afternoon all!

Back from Las Vegas - didn't lose a dime - didn't gamble one either - was too tired at end of each day. Had to get up this morning though and help with the neighborhood bike rodeo for the kids today. Getting hot already. Was still 90 last night when I got in last night at 10:00 pm and it was above that when the rodeo ended at 11:30 am this morning.

Plan to mow the lawn and then relax this weekend for once. With school over next Thursday, activities surrounding school and sports have finally come to a close.

The UP844 will come reasonably close to here Tuesday (Palestine and Longview in east TX), but I have a lot of work to do, so I may not be able to break away to see it. Could change my mind by then however.

Talk to ya'll later!
Roy

Good afternoon eveyone,

Weather is still iffy, some sun, some clouds, a lot of wind and an occasional shower. Not a lot of rain in total but very unpleasant weather. In the 60s but feels cooler than that.

Spent most of the day yesterday shopping with the wife, it is her day off. Went to a charity pancake breakfast this morning to support the local EMS (Emergency Medical Services). A LOT of people there. Did a little garden work and now am goofing off.

Chuck, Glad to hear you are sleeping better. Stay away from the cheap grass matting, it sheds like crazy. The better stuff costs a little more but well worth it.

Roy, Welcome home.

Marty, Anxiously waiting for your 844 story! [:D]

Chris, Hope you have a nice flight.

Jim, Sounds like your project is winding down. From your previous posts on the subject it looks like your contractor is one of those that will be in deep trouble if they stop the illegals from getting in.

All have a good weekend,

Afternoon all
Got to town about 30 min after the UP 844 arrived in Austin. Just got back it was cool. It will be here in Austin all day tomorrow. It leaves around 8am Monday. Had no idea that it was that big until I stood beside it. And thanks Marty for the heads up about it coming here. Thanks a bunch. Took a lot of pictures 22 with my digital and about 15 on film if I ever figure out how to post them here I will. I will put them on my web page.

Afternoon or Evening all. Visited Miss Edna's [later than thought as plumber came to replace the main kitchen drian line under house]. Saw the gang except Steve who was off to the races. JeffPo, met your brother and sister-in-law. You should have taken him up on the offer to ride along. Bet you got more hail this evening. Frankie got more but little stuff this time. Dennis, another box from the same place due here Monday. [:0] Then another one after that [more small rolling stock, nothing high $$]. Later.

Roy,

Been to Vegas a number of times. Every time I've been there Ive Won $R$$$$. But I play about $5 on the quarter slots.

Food always cheap and good and lots of good shows and glamorours stuff.

Haven't been there in 10 years so probably it changed a lot.

I was investigated by USMC for tailhook scandle but they discovered I wasn't near there :-)

After today's labors I feel like a caboose being dragged with it's breaks on. I mowed the lawn with on and off showers just after reading that it was going to be sunny all day. Of course skies cleared after I finished and the temp. rocketed to 90. Put the liner in the pool, added a couple of inches of water and worked out the wrinkles on the bottom. The sidewalls'll have to wait till tomorrow.

They're posting thunder storm warnings for north of here and a watch for us until around 11.

I never did have the time to run over to Memory Station this afternoon, guess I'll have to try to get over there one afternoon next week.

Chief, I think you've got me confused with someone else. My brother is down in Florida.

But you might be right about the hail. Saw a posting on my astronomy group about hail in Fuquay-Varina. I'm in Wilmington, NC tonight, at a soccer tournament. It's 10:13pm right now, and the skies are flashing outside. Might get a storm. We've got a soccer game at 8am in the morning. There should be laws against having games that early!

Good morning from Gettysburg. Beautiful blue clear skies, temps in 50's high to be about 70.

Yesterday I got some tomatoes planted. First efforts to grow tomatoes in a few years. Last time I planted tomatoes, we had a huge drought. I think I spent $100 on tomato plants, cages, etc and harvested about a dozen tomatoes. This time I planted closer to house so I can easily water them if drought comes back (knowing my luck, it will be a scorcher this year.[:(]) This time I got the plants from a friend and only planted six. I hope they produce, 'cause there's nothing like home grown tomatoes.

Ran some trains for a while last evening. Ran a 2055 steamer. Couldn't get it to smoke. Guess I will will have to take a look at the smoke unit. Not sure if the element burned out or has a loose wire. It never has been much of a smoker.

Watched the Open race for a while, then the inside of my eyelids. Got up and went to bed before the main event ended. Have to go online or read the paper to see who won.

Have a great day.

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill [/code] It's a cloudy 50 degrees, rained a little last
night. BUT, it's suppose to go up to 70 today and be SUNNY all afternoon and evening.
Now, that's an improvement.
Mitch.....Always liked to plant my own tomatoes. Could not do it this year, due to surgery.
I hope you have good luck with yours. Love home grown tomatoes. Next year.
Chief.....Did you ever start your benchwork?
Buckeye...Have a great time.
Well, I will go for now. Time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great day.

The thunder storms died out last night before they reached this far south. So far this morning its a cloudy, overcast day. Looks like we could get some rain. If so, it'll give me reason to stay in and run some trains. Otherwise its another day of outdoor work.

Morning all!

Starting out slow today. Up too late finishing a little project and sleep pattern is off due to the 2 hour time change coming back from Las Vegas [zzz].

I hope to go see the UP 844 - but I have a lot to do this week and next week my wife and I are heading to NYC to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Staying in a really nice hotel (at least according to their web site) and plan to see what Broadway shows we might be able to catch. Many years ago TCKTS in Times Square used to be the place to go but friends of ours said in recent years it is better to stop by the theaters of shows we might want to see and find what tickets might have been turned in for resale. Probably do an early dinner one day at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Of course a trip to Grand Central Terminal and possibly the MTA museum in Brooklyn could creep in there somewhere.

No rain in sight here for the next week. Really dry. Stage 3 watering restrictions kick in on June 1st. City will start fining violaters. Cannot wash your car and can only water lawn twice a week on certain days for 20 min max. Draining and refilling a pool is banned. All residents must reduce water consumption by 5%.

Have a great day all!
Roy

Morning all. TOMATOES!!!! I have some almost the size of baseballs. [:D] Some the size of marbles and some plants just blooming. Just set out more and got more plants in the greenhouse. I'll end up with 30 to 40. Hey, ate my first squash and zucchini from the garden on Friday night. [:D] Got corn in different stages of growth. Sowed okra seeds yesterday. Now I will put down soaker hoses by each plant and that way, don't waste water if I have to irrigate.
Chuckster, you can have tomatoes. Do as I did for Cathy [oldest] and Frankie. Dig a hole with post hole digger, put in some fertlizer [I do layers of fertilizer and soil], a small amount of lime [prevents bloosm end rot] and then plant. Keep it watered and you will have some tomatoes without doing a garden. Alison [youngest] doe her own like that. That way, I don't have to haul them tomatoes. [;)]

Of to Movie and things with Pam. She is so good about me being gone on weekends, want to do somethings with her today. Later

We went to Vegas on our Honeymoon and only gambled like $5 the whole time. We went to a ton of shows, ate some great food, and had a good time indeed. We stayed the Excalibur. They had a pretty cool jousting show there with a medievil meal. Been to a few Renaissance Festivals and so far our favorite was down in Houston Texas. Second favorite is the one in KC, which is not too far from my wife's family. They have one in Wentzville, MO too, but somehow we have never gone to that one, although it would only be about 1/2 hour from our house.

We saw Lance Burton's show, which was terrific. A few years later he had a couple television specials we enjoyed as well, but not as good as being at the live show.

Had some Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast and now I feel like my heart has slowed down. Yummy!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
