Great pics Roy of Idaho Falls. We used to stop there overnight when we hauled the horses up her from Tx. every summer. Love the Snake River Canyon. I think the wifes company has a rafting trip there planned this summer. South Idaho is soooooo different from here. Like the difference between west Tx and East Tx. Kind of deserty there ( is that a word?). Very mountainous and green here.

Sorry to do this to you guys , but below is a picture of the perfect sunset, taken off the back porch looking down the valley. It is truly amazing, what God has created...Tim

I'm jealous, Tim! What a beautiful shot. A beautiful day here too - sunny but windy. Hope to run some trains tonight. Watching Winnie the Pooh video with the young one while everyone else watches a season finale of some ilk... Maybe I can take some pictures. Have a good evening.

Evening all,

It's been a nice day here in WNY and the sun was out most of the day. After church we hung around the house for a while then went for a short bike ride and then a pinic at an overlook by the lake.

Spankybird(Tom)- you asked what car I bought...it was a K-Line Heinz 57 Variety Boxcr. It is only the 2nd K-line car that I bought. I stick pretty much to Lionel. It is one that I always liked the looks of.

Just when I thought spring was here, the forcast is for a high in the 40's tomorrow. That's almost ubelievable. I hope the warm weather gets here soon.

Roy and Tim... nice pics. Both look like beautiful countryside. There are a lot of great places to see in this counttry.

Have a nice night all.

Jeez, the things we do for our pets - our Daushund got shots today and as I was turning off the lights to go upstairs tonight, I noticed his face was all puffy - our last dog died of an allergic reaction to shots, so everyone panicked and we raced off to a 24 hr. vet. $130 later, he's shot full of Benadry and fine. Sigh.

Roy and PETim - great photos, thanks for posting them.

Chief, sorry you're under the weather - hope you kick this cold soon.

Drove up to Cullman, AL this afternoon to lead a conference at a church. Got there early and saw an open hobby shop a couple of blocks from the church. Mostly RC cars and airplanes but a fair selection of train stuff, including some Lionel sets (2 Polar Express and 1 GN RS-3 set) plus an in-store layout with two loops of FastTrack and an elevated HO line. Owner was too busy talking to a customer (?) so I didn'tsee it run. Too bad, it was a fairly nice layout, about 4x16 I would guess.

Tired from my trip so I'll say goodnight.

Dr. John, I'm curious, did you happen to see how much they were asking for those sets - Hobby Towne USA wants $269 for Polar Express.

HI GIZ,
49 and cool today only to get to 60.
DOUG, my train guy sells the express for $219, that was back in April. I don't know if he has any left.
Have a good one and lets be safe out there.

Morning gang. Hey Doug, Miss Edna has some Polar Express sets [or did the last time I was there, been two weeks, WITHDRAWAL setting in]. Need to live up to our repetation so now I will talk about: mowing grass, just sprinkled so that may be out; garden: looks real good and growing. Think these last squash and cucumbers will live; Pond: looked good and no more horse riders visiting. Now I am not suppose to talk about trains but, the SD70 CN I got yesterday looks good. Something rattles when I turn it over and back over again. I will take shell off and see if something jarred aloose from shipment. [what was wrong with the last engine I got through USPS] I will now start removing shells on all engines shipped to house and check boards and etc for loosness. Have a good one and God bless.

Chief, does Ms. Edna have a website? A nice day here - only working three days this week before taking a week off for vacation...going to drive to S. Carolina. I'm thinking about 'customizing' the battery powered Pennsy freight I got so it would work for the soon-to-be three-year old - I think tieing the couplers together - adding some weight to the cars, and taping or tieing the oval of track together might be a start. Boy, does he love trains...

Morning all!

Nice and warm here - but a cool front is hitting us and it wll only be 95 today!

Here is a shot from yesterday - 6 pm - in the shade - on our east facing porch.

Broke two 100 year records in the last two days. If we only hit 95, we will not beat the past record of 96.

Stay cool out there and have a great day all!
Roy

Laz,

The good news - some years back when I was still playing golf a bit - mid summer here when the public courses are all dried out - you could almost drive the greens - like playing on concrete the ground is so hard - ball just bounces down the fairways. All the fancy courses water all the time - so those days are gone.

Out this way they allways say the same thing, "It's a dry heat".
I don't give a rats butt, it's still HOT.

104 deg F, no breeze, 88% humidity on the tarmac Sat and Sun. Dry Heat? Maybe in Phoenix or the desert but NOT in TexASS...especially Houston!

Dave - good news and bad news...yes, they're completely stripped, but then they demand you hose 'em down which depletes our water tables! I'm ready to move up to Idaho!!!

Evening everyone,

Cool and rainy here. I could really use some of that Texas heat! Roy, If we take your temperature and our temp and then meet in the middle we could have a pretty comfortable temp. So, who lives where the weather is the best?

Have a good evening all.

Not me. The weather here in Cleveland sucks. We are down to two seasons. 10 months of winter and 2 months of summer. I know a few people with swimming pools that went into them only 5 times last summer. I'm glad my hobby is in the basement and not on the lake. Thank God for the indoor pool at my local rec center.

You sick guys need to see a doctor lickety-split! I just had a friend pass away last week at the age of 55 from pneumonia.

Weather here is wet, wet, wet. And it's supposed to be wet into the foreseeable future too.

The pool is supposed to open here on Saturday. Great. The overnight temps are still in the 30's and the daytime highs have almost made it to 60 once or twice.

Think I'll go find a toy on eBay to make me feel better...

Got to get upstairs and run the CN SD70. [oops, I talked about trains] [;)] I do hope all are having a great evening. God bless.

Was a bluebird day here today, temp. was into the 80's but a cool breeze. The weekend was cloudy on and off. The GD's tried going in the pool Sat. afternoon, after about 15 min. and their lips turning blue had to insist that they get out. Today was last day of school for them.

Been working on the small farm for the layout, using tweezers to "plant" small clumps of "underbrush" as, maybe, potatoes. I believe that's a cash crop in some areas of CO.

We have four seasons in Nawth Taxus; 2 green and 2 brown.

tschmitt - ditto that! A nice blend all year round would be great - hey that's California! Oh well, can't afford it!

ZWBob - Roger that! I have been in Akron the last 2 summers visiting relatives and us wimpy Taxuns could not stand the pool water. My cousin ran the heater for two days to make it just slightly unbearable in late July!

Morning all! Time to get up and make the donuts, or play the records. Whatever. My wife is hell-fire bent on moving to a new house. We need at least one more bedroom. But the deal is, I JUST FINISHED my MOUNTAIN!

Dual tunnels, with one at grade and another on an up-grade. Access hatches built into the back-sides of the mountain. Wooded hills on top with a residential street with homes and a church... all illuminated.

And it will all have to come down! [:(]

Can't we sell the condo and keep the basement?

Morning, all!

75 degrees and sunny in Prattville this AM. We've had some hot weather the past few days - up in the 90s with pretty strong humidity. Supposed to be cooler the next few days with lower humidity.

Fighting off a chest cold. I won't describe the stuff I'm coughing up. Following the usual regimen of vitamin C, aspirin and stong coffee. Need to get over this before leaving on a mission trip next week. I'll be up in Yankee country near Sterling, MA. A group from my church will be helping construct a sanctuary for a church. We will have it walled, roofed and dryed in within seven days. How's that for fast work?

Hope they have someone who can translate New Englandese into Southern!

Y'all have a great day!
