2009 Tea Pot (Grits Free Zone)
Posted by dbaker48 on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 5:39 PM

You may have noticed a significant slowness in our forum lately, and may have received a “time out” message. It’s in part because of large threads like this one.

To help alleviate the problem, I’m going to lock this edition down. The first person to read this may start a new edition. (I am not picking on your group nor singling you out. This is being asked of all big threads similar to this one. Thanks for understanding.)

Thanks,
Erik

Just had to do it, considering the bad time I get at the first of the year.  And, didn't want anyone to not be able to post.

Chief, please feel free to comment  Smile,Wink, & Grin

This is a new twist for "the pot":  Since a new pot will be started every month, we can see who will win the honor of starting it each month.  Don the Bake wins it for January, 2009.  Way to go, Don!

Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

Snowing hard here on the western slopes of the North Carolina High Country at 4,000' altitude.  26 F. right now headed for 14 tonight and 5,1  and 8 degrees F. predicted for the next 3 nights, with accompanying snow showers.

I may just stay indoors tomorrow and for the next few days.

Evening all!

Wow - the old thread really wasn't as big as the previous ones! Maybe it was due to too many high bandwidth pictures being posted?

Jimbo D - there will have to be an award for who starts the Pot two or three times  a month! We did not even make it half way through January!

Nice day here today - high about 50 and sunny! Cool

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

I'm here!

Happened again.  All I could do is 'contact'...no buttons for 'reply' or anything else.  Needed the log-out/log-in dance.

So it's a race for the pot every first of the month!  Seems like an end of an era.  Chief always starts it.  It's a sad day....a minute of silence (OK, a second or two) in remembrance of the Chief's legacy in starting the Pot each time...OK Play Ball!  Hey how long til baseball starts?

Brutus:  I'm in for a cold snowy Tardis tour.  Fire it up!  Maybe somewhere warm.  Maybe we can take some of this cold to GrumpyDoug, instead of an air conditioner.  I'll bring one extra window job for him just in case.

Good Evening All

Last pot had over five hundred pages now the new one is gone in a month. Something is goofy here. Our 34 degrees this morning is down to 13 and expected to be a minus number before tomorrow morning. I ran two trains today so no pileups and just talked to Charlie on the phone about some train stuff and another visit here is planned. OGR arrived today and as usual the regulars on that forum who were bashing Lionels new Vision series over did it again, just a few items loaded with their newest ideas and they are trying to sound like its their entire catalog and it will be the end for Lionel. Hum Bug.

Banilla is waiting but we will need some place warm to eat it. Brutus fire up the thingy...S.J.

Here it is!  Well, I found it, so anyone can!  Laugh  Okay, Kurt!  Tardis is ready, I parked it in the garage last night so it would start today.  Picked up an 806 LL Cattle Car on the ebay last night - lost out on a caboose.  I'd dearly love to get one of those crane cars, too!  Laz - I think that auger do it?  Whistling  Well, anyway, let us know what you come up with, I can't wait to see it!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Wow. 16 replies in less than 3 hours and 15 minutes... More like a new pot every week! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Some math:

With an average of 15 replies around every 3 hours, that equals to 120 posts per day. (24/3 = 8 x 15)

With an average of 120 posts per day, that equals to 840 posts per week. (120 x 7= 840)

With an average of 840 posts per week, that equals to 3,360 posts per month. (840 x 4 = 3,360)

But of course, this requires the 15 replies every 3 hours, which is highly unlikely.... except in times like these...

However, juding by the way the previous 2009 pot was going, with an average of 1,159 posts per month. That equals to about 77 pages per month... (1,159 / 15 = 77)

Good evening all,

It is a beautiful sunny day in NW Georgia with temps in the 50s.  Flight made it in ok last night (and boy are my arms tired lol!)   Not sure about the return flight as bad weather is predicted.  Had good dinners both nights.  Conference is going about as well as expected.  Atlanta sure is hilly.  I had a good McDonald's breakfast on the dining car this morning.  Found a computer lab where I could post on the pot.  Hopefully by this time tomorrow I will be safely back in God's country and my southern invasion will be successful.  I got good news today tho.  Sarah Fisher got Dollar General sponsorship for four races this year.  I hope everyone (including me) has a good day today and tomorrow.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Well the pot is off to a new start.  Since I could not go outside and play today I got a few things done in the train room.  Finally put the North Pole Central away for the Season.  Started rerouting my middle loop to avoid the occasional sideswipe incident.  Need to pick up some 042 Realtrax, if they have it in stock, tomorrow on the way home from the Museum.

My prayers have been answered.  Bow A coffee pot where English, not Suthern is the official language.  I have waited almost five years for this day.  I thought I would never see this day before I headed to that great train room in the sky.

Now to the news in Buckeyeland.  The Buckeye's kicked butt tonight.  The Blue Jackets kicked butt tonight.

Its time for some good hot chocolate while I stand at the door and watch the beautiful snow fall from our 19 degree sky.  Can't get it any better than this, unless you move to a paradise called Alaska.

Don Baker started this one until I could get home to start OFFICIAL one.  You must not know the history of the "coffee Pot".
