Blueberryhill ( elev. 937 ft. ).....is located in beautiful Ohio. Just 93 miles east of the Famous Roger's Corners. ( elev. 936 ft. ). There is no finer area in the world. " Best location in the Nation ", as spoken by many important people. Ask Buckeye....

Wow!  I really love the descriptions of your areas.  What a varied bunch we are.  Seems like the train shops are more plentiful in the east and middle states.  My closest is in Napa, Ca. about eighty miles.

We DO have a train.  It is called the "Skunk Train" (Really, that is the name!)  It is an old loging line that runs from Willits to Ft. Bragg (The California one,) over a coastel range.  It is all redwood country and makes a beautiful day trip.  Yhere is small station at the crest where the trains from each side meet, exchange passengers and each go back to the original starting point.

My town, Ukiah is about 125 miles north of 'Frisco.  We have a rail line running through, and a fine old station just sitting there.  No current trains, but a lot of hopeful talk about a commuter service.  Yhe rail line is owned by the North Western Pacific RR.  I hope, I hope, I hope to ride that line someday!!!

Cheers & Talleyho !

The BEAUTIFUL AND STILL VERY RURAL, NORTH FORK of Long Island (Wine Country).

Directly next to the Main Line of the LIRR, site of the former Peconic passenger station (not a station since they lost the mail contracts). Home LIRR station is Southold, 2 miles to the east, 90 plus miles from Penn Station, NYC.

(Model) Trains and local Wine make a great combination!!

Kittery, Maine, just a stone's throw across the Piscataqua River separating Maine from New Hampshire. I'm lucky to have one hobby shop about 8 miles up I-95 in York, Maine, another (N-gauge, but scenery supplies are scenery supplies!) shop about a mile from where I work in North Hampton, NH, and another one about 10 miles from work down Route 1 in Hampton Falls, NH. I could easily spend my lunch hour browsing hobby shops!

For you southeast Florida guys, I am located between Wellington & Lantana near TP exit 93. Been down here in Florida(not at the same place for the whole time in FL) for almost 24 years now after getting out of the US army in 1983.

Lived in Stratford CT for about 10 years as a child, also lived in Reading PA for about 9 years, then went into the army. My favorite railroad is the Reading Railroad.

Delaware, OH, just north of Columbus.  We prefer oatmeal over grits up here.  Cinnamon tastes terrible in grits.

On the former site of Freedomland USA, where we can watch the sun rise over Long Island Sound and see it set in New Jersey, hear the rumble of the traffic on the New England Thruway and the Amtrak commuter line and where we daily stand in a regimented line for the MTA bus that takes us to the NYC IRT subway.    Thanks for asking.

I am, like anjdevil2, in Jacksonville, (South Georga or North Florida) depending on your view point. But, unlike Rich, I'm glad I am here. The call for me to move to Jacksonville was a very cold February day in Kenton, Ohio. My future headmaster offered me a job on the phone and remembered to tell me it was sunny and 73. When I received the call, it was -20, with 6 inches of snow on the ground, and a nasty wind. I grew up just West of Erie, PA in the snow belt and I don't miss the cold and snow one bit. As a matter of fact, when it gets in to the 50's, I start looking for warm clothes to wear.

San Jose, CA population as of this week  1,000,000 people according to the stats. Tenth largest city in the US. Forty five years ago we use to have a round house, yards, factorys, railroading, the works. Now its all silicone buildings, no trains. After growing up here from a small kid, my love for trains have never died. Yes, I do miss the excitment of train dealers but one by one they all left but one.                                    Reuben

Boonter, you really should not feel isolated. I am in the Eastern Netherlands (an oasis in a Lionel desert). The closest friend in this hobby is 100 miles away, the first 0-3-rail club is across the channel and the closest shop selling 0-3-rail items is about 300 miles. That is why internet is great and makes it possible to share hobby thoughts.
