Are all of these locomotives traditional size as opposed to scale?
Thanks,
Jim
The Century Club #1 from 1996-2000 were all repros of top of the line Lionel postwar locos (Hudson, Berkshire, Turbine, GG1, F3s), thus traditional O gauge (O31) and not scale. The F3s are near scale size.
CC #2 from 2001-2005 (Niagara, UP M10000, FM Trainmaster, Empire State Express, and PRR Sharknoses) were all scale size locos. Note added: The CC II locos are all intended as scale models in the hi-rail, not the toy train tradition of CC I locos. They are meticulously detailed and painted as scale models.
Thanks to both. I run the traditional size stuff and am always looking for good locos that are TMC and not to big.

The CC Hudson is scale. It measures 24.5 inches. Negociates 0-42 curves. Sounds great too, best whistle that I have heard. I love running it.

The 773 can actually negotiate 0-31.

"The CC Hudson is scale."
In length yes, but I was referring to the fact that the 773 NYC from the CC I is a reproduction of a postwar Lionel toy locomotive, not an attempt at a year 2000 hi-rail locomotive, in terms of detail and appearance. By the way, this isn't meant as a negative comment as I have and love all the CC I and II locos, toy and scale.
I did not get a manual or a little plaque for my case with my MIB S-2.
:(
A model is built "to scale" if it is built "according to the proportions of an established scale of measurement" (Merriam-Webster). I believe that the 773 and all the Lionel F3s substantially meet that description. It has nothing to do with the level of detail.
Bob Nelson
The Merriam-Webster definition is one thing. Its common for special interest groups to have their own language and definitions. In the world of Lionel, a 773 would be considered semi-scale by almost all experienced collectors and operators.
