What are your 4th of July plans?

hi i was wondering what everyone was doing on the 4th of july? Myself i am trying to book me and my gf a dinner ride on http://www.shastasunset.com/ or http://www.yrekawesternrr.com/

they are both offering a 4th of july special with a trip around mt shasta here and then a dazziling fireworks display over the lake. 4 hr trip. sounds fun and hope i can find a spot!

I've got tonight and tomorrow night to finish my wainscotting project in the powder room, finish changing out switches and outlets on the first floor, switch out first floor hallway light, switch out two hallway lights on the second floor, and change out three switches and an outlet in the second floor hallway.

Needless to say I'll be busy.

Why the rush?

The wife has decided that we are having a 4th of July picnic for family and a few close friends.  The house warming party will be sometime in August or September (after the deck is stained, foyer light installed, second floor painted, and the shutters are painted).  Not sure what other insane projects she is going to come up with either!

Besides the family barbeque on the Fourth I plan to make my way to Kansas City's Union Station because UP 844 is here for a few days-was scheduled to arrive today at 11:00 am.

union station is awesome, use to take my son there, be sure to visit the train store there.

 

and dont forget to go across the street for lunch at fritz's place. Dont know if you been there before but its a delightful train lunch experience! For you to!You sit down and a nice o gauge train i believe it is, runs threw the walls, and then you order your food from thier phone at the table, and then a train brings it to your table. very cool . Check out all the links. Love this place and union station

I go to Union Station about once a week. I joined as a friends member last summer-it is one of the best bargains in Kansas City. I've also been to Fritz's (both of them) many times over the last 25 years.

Late last summer the Union Station food court was scrapped and a Harvey House restaurant was reinstalled/restored in its place, in its original place. It's only a diner, but it looks like the original Harvey House, and it is where it belongs. Right now there is a special exhibit about Norman Rockwell in the Station. The galleries are recreations of his Saturday Evening Post covers, except you walk into an exact recreation of the world depicted on the cover. The Lionel club that resides in the station have created an O-guage lionel layout advertised as the Norman Rockwell train display. It wasn't running when I saw it, and (in my opinion) should have been constructed using pre-war or post-war trains, instead of the fasttrack and modern rolling stock used. But, it is nice to see and have it be part of the exhibit

   Second I will be playing a concert. As posted in the pot all in the Fort Lee, VA area are invited to this free concert. It will be a great gala event and it is free. Starts at six.

I'm going to my brother in laws house. I'm going to eat his food. drink his beer and spend most of the day in his pool.

I might make a very short walk to Sand Patch to watch some CSX freight too.

We are going to celebrate my grandsons 1st birthday, actually he was born on the 5th but it's a great excuse for a big 4th of July party. That means they'll all be at my house eating my food, drinking my beer and swimming in my pool! I might even uncover the Christmas garden in the basement for the kids to play with. Already have stocked up on fireworks for the evening and to paraphrase  Apu from the Simpsons, "I am going to celebrate the independence of my country by blowing up a small part of it!"

Uninon station is an amazing place. I remeber going there one time and the whole upstairs was nothing but layouts upon layouts, trains everywere. its been a cpl yrs since i been there, and might not ever see it again.But them memorys of me and my son going there and fritz's i will never forget. You should've seen his face light up the first time he saw the train bringing our lunch. He was so amazed on how it could do that. And also the trains in the walls, I will miss those times more then i could ever express....

i like to start off with a bang also. every yr ihave been in the states since i was a weee lil lad my gramp's would light off 1/4,1/2 or 3/4 sticks of dynamite. This was always fun. We kept it safe always, the noise and the percussion was awesome, almost like a gernade. This yr i will be lighting a full stick off      safetly.

Roseyville has big fireworks display across the field in the park.  Normally we have about 35 people here for hotdogs and homemade ice cream.  This year, no.  A few and ice cream is all.  Wife is usually off the day after the 4th to clean up [too late to do that night].  Since she was off all last week, she has to work Thursday.  That ment I would have to do it all.  No way Hosea!!   Will have about a two thousand folks in Roseyville to watch [not including the ones like me that can watch from home].  Takes about two hours to have traffic disperse.

My wife and I are suppose to go over to some friends and cook out by the pool. If I had my way about it, I would stay home and run trains. No fire works this year, they have been banned here because of the drought.

We have a block party at the neighbors.  Well...across the street from the neighbors behind us.  We live in a circular neighborhood of about 35 houses.  We'll be bringing smoked brisket!  It's only taken me 4 of these things to figure out how to run the smoker...oh ya, and run trains.

It's been a good way to actually talk to all of those people you wave to as you drive by or wave to as they drive by while you're out working in your yard.

Nothing  big...Maybe fire up the BBQ.  Maybe watch the Macy's fireworks show.

Shoot off some fireworks, not much of fireworks though, cuz in georgia you can only have the kinds that spark fountains, not projectiles.

Drive home to Colchester. Join my family on the front lawn of the church to sell lemonade and water to the parade crowd.

Watch the parade.

Play Whiffle Ball on the church front lawn.

Go home and take a nap.

Eat lunch.

Pack up a picnic to take to Bayside Park on Malletts Bay.

Watch the Colchester fireworks.

Go home.

Take another nap.

We just decided to go to Pittsburgh for the fireworks. (35 minutes away) This year they are going to shoot them off the USX tower and the PPG building.

We have such a great view of this "most livable city"!
