Until the next time!
Lars
G'day Cap'n Tom!
Milwaukee Road, huh
My humble offering . . .
Milwaukee Road #54
G'day!
Figured young James would jump all over the Milwaukee Road - but he's been rather scarce over here. Good to see him at "Our" Place, however, and we'll let it go at that!
A bit more on his favorite road:
Tom
Not much to offer for the Milwaukee Road - not one that I'm all that "up" on - however, should young James happen by, my guess is he'd be all over it.
So, here's my little something to end the work week on:
You gotta love it!
California Zephyr is a mighty fine train; nice one Lars!
CB&Q 376 Silver Penthouse - California Zephyr
The California Zephyr of pre-Amtrak days was quite the dome train from Chicago to the California Bay area . . . so, we'll continue with a bit more nostalgia on it!
Passing California Zephyr's (foto credit: Otto Roach)
Enjoy!
Cool shot! Lemme see what I have in my archives . . . .
Above from the Public Domain and are interior shots of the California Zephyr's observation dome car (rearmost car).
Good stuff on the California Zephyr! Now, to continue with our trip through Nostalgia from earlier Pages . . . .

Southern Pacific from yesterday; lemme add a little something:
Good Morning Captain Tom!
I see this thread is still alive and up on the page. Been awhile since my last visit, but as explained over at "Our" Place, 'tis the season! <grin>
Here is something to support the Southern Pacific visuals . . .
BK in Alberta, Canada's beautiful high mountain country!
Hey, good to see ya BK! Been awhile, huh Appears as if the Cap'n has taken a day or two off from this thread, but we'll keep 'er goin' . . . Southern Pacific it is!
See ya at the bar!
I see it is just Lars and me these past couple of days. That is ok, you deserve a break.
A couple of contributions to support the Southern Pacific theme . . .
See you at the bar!
Hey BK, yes it does appear as if the boss has taken leave of this thread for a bit. Can't say that I blame him. All of the stuff he's provided and you'd think for a classic trains forum we'd generate much more interest than we've shown over these months. Anyway, I'll stick it out as long as he does.
Southern Pacific is still on tap, huh Let's see . . . .
Many thanx to Lars 'n BK for the fine SP contributions!
Time for another ENCORE from our trip through the pages of Nostalgia:
PASSENGER TRAIN NOSTALGIA #68 Here’s something to enjoy regarding the New York Central (NYC) in a 1954 advertisement from my private collection: A Natural for Slumber Nature made only one low-level route between East and Midwest. And for a hundred years, New York Central has improved on Nature for your comfort. Start your trip with refreshments in the lounge. Chat, read, relax as your diesel-electric dreamliner glides over a roadbed smooth as a garden path. Later, sit at leisure over a famous New York Central dinner. Enjoy it in the diner . . . or in the privacy of your own Pullman hotel-room-on-wheels. Bedtime is best of all! Your big, soft bed is waiting. So drift off to dreamland with a deep-down sense of all weather security no skyway or highway can match. For you’re traveling the naturally gentle Water Level Route. And on the level, you can sleep! Good Afternoon Captain Tom!
Some mighty fine Santa Fe going on over at the tavern. I see we are still with New York Central here, therefore here is another from my slim holdings of information:
Looks like we're on a roll with the NYC! By the way, some really great stuff over at the bar with the AT&SF.
Here's my contribution for my favorite railroad - lightning bolt stripes 4EVER!
