There are so many that it's tough to say.... One thing I've noticed is that nobody ever mentions the GS-6 4460. It's a great looking 4-8-4. Even the museum doesn't have a picture of it on their web-site. I'd sure like to see it restored to running condition.

It sounded like a couple of the replies to this thread were from "down under".

In October/November 2000 I rode behind 3801 out of Sydney Australia. She looks like a green small New Haven I-5. Boy does she have a bark.

Where else can you ride behind main line steam at 72 mph these days?

Is there any web site that covers Australian and New Zeiland steam?

My favorite steam engine is the three cylinder Shay Locomotive that is operating at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer; just off of I-85. Outstanding and really cool (well really hot) when it is fired-up and running.
