Yesterday I saw the tail end of what I thought was Pacific Surfliner 584 running about 10 minutes early. The train had a weird consist of some Amcans and Horizon cars then a locomotive and the another Amcan and then this single level car that was painted in Amtrak California colours and had a streamlined look to it like it was from another era. Also there was no NPCU at the end like there normally is when they run Amfleets. Now the even weirder part is what I now think was Amtrak 584 came in on schedule with regular Surfliner Cars. I would love any ideas on what this all means. I thought it could have been a private car but Amtrak stopped running those and it does not account for the second Surfliner.
This is the photo of the rail car in question:

Looks like the Chapel Hill.
Amtrak still runs private cars for now (with restrictions).
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
