An officially closed crossing ? The possible legal finger pointing boggles the mind. Status box says closed.

Quite possibly the driver was concentrating on plowing the road, a task probably made more complex in the vicinity of the grade crossing. When very focussed on one task, it becomes easy to forget about other outside influences. More than one grader operator working on a gravel road has been killed or injured at a grade crossing.

That sucks. Sounds like a simple tragic accident.

... and sadly the plow driver probably screwed-up, not Amtrak.

Accident report from a similar crossing accident on CN between Lloydminister and North Battleford, SK. The driver was killed in this one too.
