Is there any talk of expanding Amtrak Cascades to Sacramento?

I don't think so. The only major cities in Oregon are Medford, Roseburg, and Grants Pass, (or Klamath Falls) all under 100,000. The route isn't suitable for any sort of fast running, being very steep and curvy.

Since the "Cascades" are funded in part by the states of Washington and Oregon, any southern extension beyond Eugene is highly unlikely.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

(Wasn't finished with post) Since there seems to be trouble with keeping the Vancouver part of the Cascades line, would Amtrak consider having Sacramento as an alternative?
