When I went from Boston to Chicago this past April, all the passengers had to change in Rensselaer, and the passengers who had sleeper accomodations were allowed to leave the coaches first so they could board their sleeper. There was no switching of the cars from Boston. I expect that the same procedure is still followed.

Dak: My understanding is that there are NO thru cars, coaches or sleepers. Let's just see if Amtrak keeps the faith, restoring the thru cars, when the platform reconstruction is complete.
