My favorite now? CN. That won't go over too well in BC, but they are yards ahead of the rest otherwise. I say that as a fan and as someone that had to deal with them businesswise.

Lehigh Valley first, the rest-nowhere. Rutland could qualify as a short line now, but not when it was alive. My top "classic" short line? Arcade & Attica, tourist activity aside. Passenger railroad: New Haven R.I.P. As for living passenger lines, Conway Scenic.

Favorite fallen flags. Conrail, Chessie.

Shortline-TP&W

Class one-NS or CSX (can still see Conrailpower.) When all the CR locos are painted then it would be BNSF.(7 different schemes H1,H2,H2,BN,BN-white face, ylwbonnet, warbonnet)

Since I'll be moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma after being born and raised my whole life in Miami, Florida, I'll be able to go to all the passenger/excursion railroads that are all around the Midwest and Southwest. I think my second favorite Railroad will be the Disneyland Railroad, but I can't say until I get to go a couple of times........

My current favorite railroad is Dallas Garland & Northeastern(DGNO), a shortline.

My favorite current Class 1 is a 3-way tie between BNSF, KCS, and UP.

My favorite railroad of all time is Missouri Kansas Texas, or M-K-T(The Katy). She is still live and well in my mind. ATSF, BN, Mopac are favorites as well, but they dont hold a candle to The Katy.

My favorite is BNSF fallen flags BN and SF (of course)

Why though do some insist you should model the road nearest you.
I am in New York City. A couple of guys at our club model the UP
(they have many locos each -1 steam guy and 1 diesel guy)

Then there are some shortlines ect. but most like CSX Conrail or NS. We who model roads distant from our home take a lot of heat from some of the local modelers. I find it very strange.

Also like Ann Arbor and Southern Railroad,My greatgrand father worked for Ann Arbor and my in-Laws for Southern.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Based on Trains magazine and Internet viewing it is hard to pick a favourite. They all offer great viewing, operations and a hobby to enjoy.

SP has to be the all time favourite with the most colourful history

Here in South Africa, the demise of the 2' narrow guage lines pulled by unique Garret type loco's, is a loss.

Whistling [:-^]

Well CN lost any good feelings that I had for them, when management were so

lacking in common sense and due diligence to run locomotives on the mountain subs without dynamic brakes.

I have worked for managers like that and the things that come to mind for them to endure is improper to write here.

CN is doing a very bad job. i have to agree. they keep derailing and dont do anything to help prevent future derailments. and E Hunter Harrison keeps trying to pull crap to lower salaries for employees leading them to go on strike. CN has some serious issues

I think not.

I guess CN of yesteryear is ok too.
