RESTROOMS???
Unless they have improved an awful lot since my day (30 years ago), there is no way you could call the facilities in the short hood a restroom. Pardon me while I laugh some more.

That's true. The old timers used the coal pile in the tender. It wasn't until oil fired steamers and diesels that the Call Of Nature became an imperative.
Some early diesels were built without toilets, which didn't become common until work agreements required them on new locomotives.
Our robot-Gp38 hi-hoods have the remote brain box in the short hood end with the toilet.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
It would be interesting to learn the arrangement in a "hammerhead" RS3 or RSD5 which had both dynamic brake and steam generator in the short hood.
recently I noticed that whitewater valley railroad SD10 had a bathroom in the short hood. But where do they put the bathrooms on engines with steam heat in the short hoods?
