Yup there's a motel on the border of Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park MN that faces the BNSF/CP mainlines running along the Mississippi River. BTW I've got my tickets for the 261/Hudson double header Sept 15th!!

The information you need is on the Friends of 261 [the Milwaukee Road 4-8-4] website:
http://www.261.com/
The Hudson will travel from Calgary, Canada to the Twin Cities, thence to Milwaukee and Chicago (franklin park) , and then back, but with double headers with the 261 from the Twin Cities to LaCrosse WI and back.
We have seen this engine in Milwaukee before, and also have seen it double head with 261 before but no matter how many times you see it, this is a MUST SEE event for any railfan who can make it to the midwest.
