This is a thread for a legendary South African Steam Engine that's currently scheduled to be restored back to operational condition again.

Any effective preservation of South African steam is worth praising and supporting.
Or any steam engine for that matter. Sadly the US hasn't done a great job preserving steam (no NYC Hudsons, Milwaukee Hiawatha 4-4-2s, etc.).
At least you guys still have the Mohawks. Unfortunately a lot of our big steam is being scrapped. Countless Class 16s, 23s, 25s, etc. I havent seen some of these anywhere in almost 10 years. Online or IRL.
And the USA does have some good Birkshires, Northerns, Articulteds, Pacifics, Milados, narrow gauge, and a real Mallet.
