Try these folks.. http://www.sphts.org/ . If anybody should be able to help you, I would think it would be them. Congrats on your new "toy". Where are you keeping it?
For now the caboose will be moved to a friend's ranch where I'll store it until I locate suitable property for display. While it's stored, I'll proceed with interior restoration to it's "as retired" (1974) appearance. As much as I'd like to keep the original paint, I think an exterior paint job is also in order. This caboose was retired wearing the short-lived all orange bay paint scheme (not just the bay ends). That will be how I repaint it. Of historical interest for modelers, I've determined that this car was in fact originally painted with vermillion (red) ends when built in 1951. I'd read that there was some question as to when SP discontinued painting the vermillion ends, but as I examine the dings and gouges in the ends, I see bright red under the Daylight Orange.
I'm also looking for two walk-over bay window seats, as the previous owner sadly discarded the originals. Thankfully, most of the rest of the interior is intact.
Have any photos, Id love to see it.
