Can anyone out there give me any info on CSX's Sandpatch grade? I have looked on the web and not found much of anything.[:(]

Heading west from
Cumberland, MD
the line rises gradually to
Hyndman, PA.
From there the grade stiffens (up to 1.59%) up to
Foley
. The next section to
Glencoe
is not as steep. The rest of the way reaches 1.94% to the 4,777' summit tunnel at
Sand Patch.
The western slope reaches 1.5% down to
Salisbury Jct.
and less than that to
Connellsville
.

How far is the peak of the grade from Cumberland, MD?
