The most comprehensive book I have read on the subject of train robberies is The Train Robbery Era: An Encyclopedic History, by Richard Patterson. 1991: Pruett Publishing Company, Boulder, CO.

Check ebay, half.com, Powell's books, allibris or one of the internet used-book sites for this one.
