Sad pile of ruble - what is the 2 axle CSX trailer on the far side of the NW leg of the wye?  I am surprised that the tower is still standing.

The trailer is probably supplies for the demo crew - oil, grease, parts, etc.

When CSX rehabbed the tower I was wishing they would put in windows that recreated the look of the tower "back in the day."  No such luck.

It's a mixed blessing.  It's sad to lose an historic building, but apparently it was as much of a wreck inside as it was an eyesore outside, and the cost (never mind the cost/benefit ratio) to bring it back into useful shape was more than anyone would have wanted to spend.

There's been talk of building a restroom / storm shelter at the park.  I always thought it would be cool to use brick from the station as a veneer for such a facility.

CSX has parked since this Friday morning on our town's siding a mile long Haz Mat train.  All plackards 1987 led by 3 CN locos forward, tail,  forward.  Front about 2000 feet from home.

Guide missing.  1987  alcohol?

Remember that a railcar (or a truck) remains placarded whether empty or full, unless it's been cleaned.

It's guide 127 in the ERG (orange book), which is available on-line, including as an app you can download to your phone.

There is a steel foundry in Neenah I believe. At least thats the town I see on the man hole covers.

Thx, Joe.
I'm across the street from Neenah Foundry several days a week. Have friend I take to work at a firm that reconditions paper machine rolls. He doesn't have transportation right now. NF is laying off 115 now. Have sold off one of their product lines that's no longer profitable for them. Still do a lot of municipal and construction products. They take gons of scrap metal occasionally, but lots of coal by semi from Milwaukee. Finished products all go out by semi. The foundry is located along the CN at the south end of Neenah's yard.

Battery died on my 2017 Ram.  Only 5 years.  Got 6 years out of the original battery on my 2003 Durango - the replacement for the Durango battery only lasted 3 years - to the day.

Today about 1900 same train came back south and was again parked in siding. Two CN units same but had CSX as second loco.  Train was same with cement car still on north end.

No train related news here, but I got some visible benefit from my HOA fee.

Late last Thursday a large water pipe on property sprung a leak. Most of the precious water went into the drain but the rest was a concern; adjacent buildings are on a slope and our ginormous oak tree was now in a small lake.

Maintenance was able to get a crew which arrived at midnight armed with lights, jackhammer (!) and other tools. They worked through the night and got water restored about 9am.

I find it more than a little weird that after 48 hours, the Newswire has yet to pick up on the potential sale of the EVRAZ/RMSM/CF&I steel mill and North American holdings. The cheesepickers in the Trains virtual newsroom taking a virtual holiday?

Joe: Long piece of rail probably means broken rail in a crossing somewhere.

Hey guys, hope everyone is well.

I saw this on the wikipedia page for the MKT Railroad-

"At the end of 1970, MKT operated 2,623 miles of road and 3,765 miles of track"

It looks like someone found a new translation of route miles and track miles.

Namaimo73:

Back tracks, sidings, yards, and company owned portions of industrial leads, joint facilities and the like. (mis-interpretation of the annual reports to FRA and STB ...the number changes again with trackage rights and overhead rights.)

Joe: Arizona and New Mexico (especially?) have been totally dependant on the feds for years and used their "poor us / empty pockets" routine  to do whatever they wanted for decades/ over a century while Uncle Sam picked-up the damage behind them - the other shoe finally dropped.

Don't think there enough Dixie cups to fill the shortfall this time.

On one of my e-mail accounts I got a unsolicited e-mail that stated a package was out for delivery on DHL and requested me to 'confirm' for delivery.

Checking the e-mail sender indicated that the address was in Russia.  Fully suspect it was a phishing e-mail trying to get critical information from me.  The delete button works.

Welcome to the club blue streak 1. The vaunted and highly over-rated computer bubbas failed you like so many others. Kalmbach has some major problems and apparently also a good case of industrial disease (especially in customer service where they are badly out of touch)....

The screw-ups are never their faultConfused

Willard to Chicago, as I recall, was in excess of 250 miles (278 sticks in my head from passenger train days - Grand Central to Willard)  I suspect Cleveland to Chicago (depending on where in Chicago) will be well in excess of 300 miles.  With the North Baltimore ramp operating creating a parking area around it - 1. Long Pool trains will not work at N. Baltimore.  2. Passing through the 'Parking Zone' will tax the Train Dispatchers ability to manipulate his railroad.

But it will not let me sign out so I can then sign in.  No place to even just go ahead and sign in.

Note:  It is just that one news wire.  All others both before and after are OK !!!
