chatanugaWell, it's my own website which allows pics to be used on other sites.
I used to do that. Several things caused the site to go away, though.

tree68 Given comments regarding the issues with the fora, it's possible that there is a problem there. The other possibility is that the site you're using doesn't allow lexternal inking. Sometimes that changes - a site that used to allow linking no longer does.

You could probably just reach out to their support and ask them directly. From talking amonst others, they seem to be pretty responsive (I never had the need).
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.

Lithonia OperatorGoogle "imgur user forum,"
Lamentably, they require one to join in order to participate in their forums. And it is mandatory that one furnish a cell phone account, in order to join. And doing so runs contrary to my personal preferences. Just an odd relic (my preferences) from being a dinosaur, I suppose?
Reading their FAQ however, it appears that their site provides gratuitous and unsolicited conversion "on the fly". So an educated guess is that the suspect files are autogenerated by imgur when users upload large *.gifs of a sufficient size that it is deemed desirable.
Still, seems odd that they prohibit users from uploading their own.
Google "imgur user forum," and see what pops up. Someone can probably answer this for you.
Still in training.
Lithonia OperatorOnce you get a webp image the way you like it, can you save it as a jpeg and use that for imgur?
*.webp is a format for animated images, in the same vein as *.gif, but without the 256 color limitation, and featuring much smaller file size. An animation that is 2.6 MB as a .gif might be only 900 KB as a .webp for example. So, they download a lot quicker when people view them. Which is the main advantage to the format.
Again, it's just odd that we find .webp images on there all the time, but whenever I've tried to put one up myself, I am told the format is verboten....just seems odd.
imgbb and postimage accept .webp, but imgur does not.
CO, I'm afraid I've never even heard of .webp. Sorry.
My world is pretty much limited to .psd (mostly), .tif, .jpg and .nef (Nikon RAW).

I only use imgur for the random shot that isn't bound for my galleries on 500px, but I want to put out there for some reason, like to ask you guys a question about it.
My imgur acct is free; not so the 500px one.
Lithonia Operatorot-link to a pic on my imgur page.
Ahh, so you have an account at Imgur? Perhaps you can shed a light on a mystery.
I use Imgur frequently for "one-off" image hosting and am a little puzzed that I frequently find images by others on there that are *.webp format......yet anytime that I've tried to upload a *.webp image I get a message basically telling me that format is not accepted.
As a member, are you able to upload .webp images? I tend to use imgur for a lot of .gif images that I author, and would prefer to use .webp due to the smaller file size, and larger color range.
Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out why I find .webp images on there, when I get refused whenever I try to put one on there, and have wondered if members get that limitation waived
As always, thanks for your time to answer.
Sorry it took so long to reply. I'll try imgur method & thanks.
This is a test of whether I can hot-link to a pic on my imgur page.
Well, apparently not ...
Let's see if a regular link works:https://imgur.com/gallery/qqCwEom
Trying again:
Aha! Got it now.
To anyone who is, like I was, confused about hot-linking to imgur, the secret is you have to use the "Direct Link" URL, which ends in .jpg, and not the so-called "Image Link." (Odd nomenclature, if you ask me.)
I use www.ingur.com
chatanugaIs anybody else having issues with inserting photos?
Can't hotlink to a free Photobucket account, have to be a paying member, or use one of the free sites that allow it (imgur, imgbb, postimage etc)
Seems to be working ok for me.
chatanuga Is anybody else having issues with inserting photos? I hit the picture button to insert a picture, enter the URL of the pic I want to put in my post, but it comes up as a broken link. The video button's not working right either. Kevin

There are instructions in the Model Railroader forum.
Photos must be on another website that allows hot linking to display photos. Photos CAN NOT be posted directly to any of the Kalmbach forums.

Hi everyone, I want to start a post but would like to add a photo to help explain the situation. Can I add a photo directly from my PC's picture folder or do I need to go through something like Photo Bucket? I see the insert/edit tab but not sure how that works. What is meant by "sourse" in that tab?
