I'm firmly convinced that the software developers monitor what real users use and remove (or hide) those features...

That seems to be the case with Google and some of their web based services. Emphasis on Maps and News, both were more useful five years ago than they are now. News is especially irritating as there doesn't seem to be a way of getting news for San Diego county as a whole, the local option is just a bit too local.

I was going to make a comment on an item, but not only the 'not a robot'  thingy interveened, but I was unable to 'process'  my sign-in info (several cycles!),  but  somehow got locked in the 'not a robot' thingy....

How do we know that you aren't actually a robot?

That does not compute.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Bob Smith would be a good start.  You know, full words and that.

So that's his first name in the Ma... I mean your ... I mean, I had no idea ... and now I'm worried.

Hugo Weaving wearing an engineer's cap in the locomotive simulator.  Adds a whole new dimension to autonomous automatic train control, too.

If something doesn't exist it can't break, so you never have to worry about fixing it.

Robots use real sounding account names, and not nearly so many emojis.

Wonder whaaaaaaaat kind of names they'd use?

Mine would probably be a decent choice if an EMDEC ever achieves self awareness.

I don't know if it is another "enhancement", but the Search function no longer finds any results from Forums (Fora?). I found that out by searching for the "TV Programs Alert" thread so I could post this:

Convicted One
While we are ranting, I've been extremely disappointed with Google lately with their insistence that I provide a mobile contact to verify my identity and "assure my  safety" for my Gmail accounts.

Yeah, they pulled that on me Sunday.  What I couldn't figure out was when I signed onto Gmail my Gmail address came up automatically, my password came up automatically, (I only use one computer, by the way.) but I still had to verify with a mobile contact.  Hasn't happened since.

Sometimes those "enhanced" features, in reality have covert, even sometimes less than honorable, functionality.

I forget which one it is, but I recall having loss of functionality with the ol "Captcha" demons when having either javascript or Flash disabled for security purposes.

Of course there are exploits for both, and I often wonder if the "captcha" feature isn't in use to make sure that I am "exploitable". (aka: "Please enable javascript for entry")

While we are ranting, I've been extremely disappointed with Google lately with their insistence that I provide a mobile contact to verify my identity and "assure my  safety" for my Gmail accounts.  If I know the name and password, and can even answer my  obscure security question...what more proof should they need?  Obviously the "security" aspect is a ruse in cover of their marketing strategy.

We've had two trains pas here in the last three days (Main#3 Eldrado sub)..Sunday about 1 PM there was a loaded grai train(Worm) going East and about 4Pm ther was an 'Export' Stacker going west (crawling!)...Nothing since, but the temps have started to rise today, we are now at a -(minus 3) overnight it was somethiong around -10 or-11, and the power company is 'warning' of rolling blackouts...I'm guessing that they have also 'practiced' with some voltage reductons as well(?). Pirate Judgging how our lights, and appliances have reacted...  Supposed to be the coldest and nastiest since the late 1970's.Mischief
